media.giphy.com/media/11OOAQSnUaZT2M/giphy.gifI mean sure he was ok I guess however I am pretty sure most of the praise he got was due to the fact he died because everyone knows that if you don't give dead people hyperbolic praise they will come back and haunt you or sommat like that. In all honesty I never thought Ledger really captured that sense of sadistic joy that Hamill seems to portray, in the end he felt more like a person putting on an act trying to convince everyone around him that he is crazy in order to inspire fear than a legitimately deranged madman who finds a genuine sadistic joy and amusement in tormenting Batman and generally causing chaos. In fact I would even go so far as to argue that the entire Dark Knight trillogy isn't that great, part of the great thing about Batman to me is the sheer lunacy and over the top nature of his Rogues gallery and the setting, trying to put him in a more grounded and less fantastical setting kind of defeats the purpose of watching a grown man fight crime dressed in a bat suit, it is like taking the gadgets and flamboyant villains with metal teeth away from James Bond. Apart from the whole Bane freestyle rap scene the whole trillogy is kind of Meh.

I thought Ledger's was a great performance.
Christian Bale's Batman voice was pure comedy though.

Didn't like him, so voted he sucked. Not a fan of the Nolan Batman films either. Guy playing Batman is terrible too (why does he have to talk like that?).

Heath Ledger’s Joker is the best for people who don’t read comics or watch cartoons. I grew up with Hamill's Joker, but still think Ledger's take on it was pretty brilliant. The Leto one is pure garbage though. Regarding Batman, I will give credit to the BvS version for at least going with the voice modulator rather than him having to force it every time he opens his mouth. I'll admit that I don't actually mind Ben Affleck as Batman. The real hacks here are the people that wrote the plot around him, which is dumb as hell.

Just about everything about it aside from the actual production quality itself is terrible, from the writing to the design of the characters (Doomsday in particular).

BvS is probably the only superhero film that actually makes me angry, and not even because of what it does to heroes I love. The cave troll Doomsday looking terrible was bad enough, but his origin is total gerbil chlamydia.

Joker is a role that brings out the best of any good actor that gets it.
You'd have to be a special kind of polished turd to shine enough to be given the role only to then give a bad performance. Jared " I fell into a vat of hot topic" Leto probably counts as said turd. I took one look at him and nope'd the fuck outta watching it so technically I can't comment on his performance, but it sounds like I didn't miss much.
Saying that Heath Ledger wasn't the best Joker is hardly the same as saying his performance was over-rated, Hamill set the bar ridiculously high. I'd rate Ledgers performance over that of Jack Nicholson's, and that alone is plenty of reason to call it brilliant. Jack's performance was a fairly high bar just to to reach, let alone surpass.

Hard to judge Ben Affleck's Batman, as much as I dislike Ben Affleck as a person I do think he could be a fairly decent Batman if the material he had to work with wasn't so shit.

This is what you figure will be controversial? O.o What is what who figures will be controversial? Well, why... Why you of course! Typical of your style, you take something slightly past being contemporary that was popular in its day, then shit on it hoping for flame or likes. It is a tired conversation from the get-go, because you load the OP and the Poll with opinion and nonsense non-serious options. You want your conversation, not ours.

Are you still mad about the Pulp Fiction thread? Surely people's world view isn't so fragile that they can't handle somebody having a different opinion from them and not liking what they like? So far the conversation in this thread has been fairly civil with most people agreeing or disagreeing without resorting to throwing a hissy fit and to be honest this is a fairly benign topic so I don't see why it would upset you? Trust me darling if my goal was to upset you there are a lot harsher things I could post than this.
