Watched 2 episodes of Warrior Nun, which, near as I can tell, is a modern take on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but instead of a Chosen One, she’s an accident. It’s...ok. Will try at least one more episode before deciding to leave it or carry on. From what I've read nothing happens until episode 9, so if you want to watch one more episode... Fair enough. Will see how I go, then. Haven’t watched any more of it yet, there are games to play.

I watched the first two episodes last night and that's quite the slow burn. But the end of episode 2 made me want to watch the 3rd episode so I will do that tonight.

Finished Warrior Nun.
Verdict: Cool idea, interesting characters but not that great of an execution.
Episode 3 to 5 are basically waste of space, could probably be shrunk into 30 minutes without losing anything. 8, 9 and 10 (especially 10) could have used some more time. It's like they realized by episode 8 that they only had 2 episodes left to actually tell the story. Which is weird, because the show feels super slow despite having lots of plot points that gets barely any screen times and ham-fisted exposition.

Here's one. I use Viki, either the main site or the mobile app, to watch Korean dramas. Excluding the chiefly romance-focused series, among my favourites are: - Iljimae (20 episodes) - About a Robin Hood-esque nobleman's son on a mission to find his father's killer. Features one the most heartwarming fosterdads seen in dramas and has a fast-paced but melodious soundtrack, it really makes you feel the restless energy of the main character.
- Liar Game (12 episodes) - About a college girl who finds a suitcase full of money on the street and finds herself an unwilling participant of a reality show called Liar Game which invites its participants to trick their fellow competitors to the win prize money worth several million dollars. The distressed main character enlists the help of an ex-con who used to be a psychology professor to survive the ordeal. Features game theory in action in very entertaining ways.
- Six Flying Dragons, or Roots of the Throne as the series is called on Youtube where it's uploaded in its entirety by its original broadcasting station, is a 50-episode-long historical political drama and tells how the actions of six individuals (three historical and three fictional) led to the end of the buddhist kingdom of Goryeo in 1392 and the birth of a new confucian nation of Joseon (the predecessor of modern Korea). This one, too, has an incredible soundtrack. You'll never look suckling pigs the same way after this drama.
If you're not only interested in Korean dramas, I'd recommend also two Chinese dramas: - Nirvana in Fire, also on Youtube (54 episodes) - Starts slow with the first three episodes introducing the setting and characters but then the story kicks off and what follows is a string of court machinations that set, for me, the standard of what clever step-by-step maneuvering and making use of one's opportunities in a royal setting should look like. Features a bromance between an unfavoured prince and his cousin, the two seeking to overturn a wrongful royal degree.
- The Longest Day in Chang'an is my most recent find, having been broadcast just last year. 48 episodes long, it's basically Kiefer Sutherland's 24 series but takes place in 8th century China. The law enforcement officials in the capital of Tang dynasty, Chang'an, conscript a death row inmate to help them prevent a terrorist attack which is to take during the largest national holiday - if only the different factions in the city weren't in a constant tug-of-war for power and prestige... Extremely well researched with costumes and food typical to that time period. The events get a bit over the top by the end of the drama. The creators have also clearly played Assassin's Creed games.

Finished Umbrella Academy S2 last night.
Very, very good. I liked the first season quite a bit, but felt it leaned too heavily into "Super-heroing is super serious" to be really enjoyable. S2 had a great deal more levity in it, although portraying Diego as "dumb Batman" didn't really land for me.
Basically, I felt S2 was an improvement over S1 in every way that mattered. The cliffhanger endings implications for S3 are interesting to ponder while I wait.

I'm using both Netflix and Viki to watch more mainstream shows like CLOY, TKEM, Goblin, Hotel del Luna, etc. So far it's been more hit than miss thankfully.

Belatedly been watching The Haunting of Hill House. It's pretty good; reminds me a bit of Lost, but more consistent and concise. So far I haven't found it even slightly scary, but then I don't watch/read horror for the scares.

Yeah Haunting Of Hill House was pretty good. Friend and I enjoyed it a lot. It's well crafted family drama rather than horror. It gets a bit cheesy at times, especially at the end, but it's one of the best shows on Netflix imo.

I'm pretty fond of Dick Clarke's blooper series. Watching this brings up the nostalgia, those good old sitcoms.

Good. I'm totally against these live action rehashes and relish in their failure. The original ATLA is really all the Aang story that's needed.

I've been (re)watching older TV shows for the past few months. Binging them, really. That 70s Show (which I'd never really watched before, funny as hell!!), for one. Then I rewatched one of my favorite shows from my teenage days: Malcolm In The Middle. I had forgotten what an epic finale speech it has. Amazing ending. Then I moved on to Futurama, currently at the end of S1. So that's going to keep me busy for a while. Still consider it much better than The Simpsons overall.
Watching light-hearted comedies helps me cope with covid anxiety. I tried to get into serious stuff like The Man In The High Castle but I can't do depressing right now.

I haven't seen the last two seasons of BLINDSPOT (with Jaimie Alexander), I lost track after Season 3 because I could never find it on the Rogers TV Guide. I wanted to record Season 4 but was never able to find it on the guide, so eventually I just gave up,....But I just read the Series Finale blurb on CinemaBlend.
Can anyone make sense of it?
I loved the idea of the series and really enjoyed season 1 and 2. I own Season 3 on blu-ray but haven't watched it yet even though it's at least 2.5 years old by now. My favourite of the ones I have is Season 1, especially the Pilot. I just love the intro and the concept, how it opens up a 'bag of mysteries' quite literally.
Does/did anyone else watch the show? Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? It was interesting for the First couple of seasons, but it has definitely lost its way. I'm just a couple of episodes from the end of the final season, and I've just been going through the motions. Same as I did with season 4. If you aren't the sort of person that needs to finish shows you start, I'd advise stopping after the 3rd season.

Watched the first three episodes of Normal People.
Torn between being deeply intrigued and finding it oddly off-putting at the same time. Well acted, written etc, all the usual endorsements. Just...feels weird watching it.

Just...feels weird watching it. Never heard of it. Do tell.... Sort of coming of age series about a couple of Irish teens. Really well done, but due to its uncomplicated style, it can sometimes feel like you’re watching people in their real lives and...I don’t know. Feels a bit voyeuristic, I guess? Supposedly the full series takes them through several years of their lives.

Finished Season 1 of The Boys last night. I'd heard good things (but otherwise knew nothing about the IP). It did not disappoint. Looking forward to Season 2 in a couple of weeks. That is on my list. Right after I finish Seasons Two and THree of BLINDSPOT (I only own 1-3, do not have 4 and 5 isn't anywhere close to being release just yet....Not sure if I want the last two seasons, based on reviews and scuttlebutt) Have you seen HANNAH? It's good. Kinda reminds me of the first three BOURNE movies.

Movie about the young girl with 'enhanced abilities' and training? Eric Bana the Dad? If so, yep - I quite liked it, as I recall. There's a recent TV re-imagination. I watched the series on PRIME first, before the movie. I actually liked the series a lot better. While I liked the actors they chose for the movie roles, somehow- after seeing the series, the movie actors didn't seem to fit quite right. Like the original Swedish version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo......So much better than that trainwreck that was supposed to be a Hollywood remake with....James Bond.
