is Casey Hudson the only sane person left in BioWare?@caseydhudson I was extremely disappointed to find out about the comments on the passing of John Bain (@totalbiscuit) from someone who was previously part of BioWare. Let me be clear that they don’t represent BioWare’s views, EA’s, or my own. Our condolences go out to John and his family.

Considering he was talking about a former employee at BioWare, I think there are plenty of sane people left. People put on a good face when applying for jobs and eventually let their true colors come through after awhile. There is plenty of evidence that people behave and act completely different at work then they can at home. I was even oblivious to a "nice guy persona" once where I worked.
There are always going to be assholes on the internet, its one thing you always need to consider. BioWare has encountered plenty of them over the years, if anything the comment from Casey Hudson proves that because he had to make sure people understood he didn't work at BioWare anymore before the pitchforks came after them.

One name: Manveer Heir. He wasn't some nameless grunt, but literally The Face of BioWare. They've been sending him to all those GDC talks about Diversity, tolerance and Stuff. And when people started questioning his racist remarks what did BioWare did? Nothing. Pretended nothing happened. There wasn't even General Manager's damage control tweets like the one Casey made right now. Behavior like this is rampant in BioWare and at this point i am convinced that people like the one Casey is talking about do represent general BioWare's attitude. Grave Dancing is not out of their current character. The fact itself that Casey did said anything is telling that he is indeed have a bits of sanity left in him. No other BioWare or EA official did any of this.

It's good to see Casey disavow these sorts of toxic comments, it's the right thing to do. A stark difference from Aaryn Flynn's lack of leadership (and courage) on similar matters.

I don't know the employees at BioWare personally, nor do you, unless there's some insider knowledge you have. I can see no evidence of a vein of nastiness in the BioWare workforce, to suggest so is just speculative clap-trap in my view. I do think Casey played this well, that I agree with.

I agree, I also think there is probably more to the story then anyone really knows, but there are plenty of laws and regulations that protect employees and sometimes that means staying quiet is the only thing that can be done until something like contract renewal happens. Edit: As a personal example I had a co-worker that abused their status inside the company, but until they refused to renew their contract there was nothing they could have done legally to prevent their actions because they didn't violate anything.

Might be worth adding that neither Manveer or Crooks shared anything other than their personal opinions, distasteful as they were. The internet gets upset very quickly, both when: - People are scummy to others, and also when
- People's ability to have free speech is challenged
It's not always immediately obvious when to decry hateful remarks or to defend free speech. It's complicated. And the court of public opinion can be both judge and executioner.

You can do both quite easily. I will defend the right of David Crooks to make disparaging remarks about a dead guy, but I will not try and shield him from the consequences of such an action (unless those consequences break the law). It also makes him something of a ****burger. Personal responsibility is a marvellous thing.

Nick Sadler @zenderquai He didn't speak for his corporation, his companies, or his colleagues.
And he certainly didn't speak for me.
Bitterly disappointed that my contributions, my reputation, and those of my hard-working colleagues stand to be tarnished.

Kotaku in action (Gamergate subreddit) made him the face. That's nice for them... That place is a cesspool, what do you expect. Now folks are just grinding their own axes against bioware because they can. It's ironic, isent it. The adoration had for someone dying is enough to have folks claim a boycott, despite the fact they participate in the very behavior mentioned in the tweets that have been deleted. I didn't even like Bain that much either, but Crooks fucked up by being a dick about it. Now the cycle of gaming cultures own stupidity continues... What a hobby we have chosen eh?

How is this "Crooks" guy related to the tweet from a "Mike Jungbluth" posted above? Are they the same guy going by different names? I don't even know who the dead guy is everyone is talking about, but this part is really confusing.

The thing I've pointed out is people like him help bridge the gap between gaming culture and the mainstream.

Well, I guess I'm part of neither since I've no idea who he is/was. I don't watch other people play and I don't base my opinions of games on what some yakabox on Youtube thinks. From what I have gathered based on various comments on this forum, most such "reviewers" don't so much talk about a game and its strengths/weaknesses, but rather how offensive it is to whoever. That's not useful, imo.
But, how is Crooks related to Jungbluth?

To me he is just another face in a sea of angry culture critics. Other than his push for consumer advocacy he had little to distinguish him from the rest. I don't know, maybe I'm just getting jaded at this point.

The 2nd guy, Jungbluth I believe is employed by BioWare on Anthem and kind of said disparaging remarks like Crooks. They are related only because they worked together at some point.
