You think it's going to be more expensive than SWTOR?? Destiny's not more expensive than SWTOR. Oh right, SWTOR... I forgot how expensive that was. But 7 years in development and pulling in the bulk of BW's staff in Edm & Aus - it wouldn't surprise me. Or at least close.
DAO was 7 years in development too, technically. It's not that special when it comes to new IPs, but most of those years is just an handful of people doing concepts and it cost a lot less than production does. Brenon Holmes said Anthem team had a dozen people for the first couple of years which less or more brings us to after DAI released. But MEA got most of the staff from what I remember, DAI had 3 DLCs done by different teams and SWTOR got huge expac in 2015 and 2016 too (and the second one was impacted by staff being moved to MEA). I don't see how Anthem could get a large team (~200) for production before 2017 and headcount is where most of the budget goes (dev budget, not the marketing one).

I don't think MEA got most of the staff til about late 2015/2016 time - which would account for why SWTOR went from a plan of having 3 expansions with chapters between for the Zakuul arc to having 2 expansions and then the story being wrapped up with flashpoints now I think about it.....

MATURE Content is generally suitable for ages 17 and up. May contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.
I can see the violence, gore and blood in this game.... but nothing else.
EDIT: Notice the "not rated for online interaction" disclaimer.
We have a confirmation of either audio/text chat then....

Those boxes are fan made (by a French Anthem fansite). People made mock-up and Gamble confirmed the image was for the box art. Also, voice-chat was in last year gameplay trailer.
ESRB haven't rated it yet.

So Mike Gamble has confirmed* the box art images. (final design simulated)Yep, the French ones reference Europes PEGI. FYI: All versions are fake The reason the above post says 'final design simulated' is because I simulated it this morning using the Mass Andromeda box as a template.

I don't think it's possible to market a new IP correctly.
Make another DA or ME game, one that doesn't uhhhhh, suck. And then come out with a new game. I had issues with DAI, but those are in the past, and they are well documented.
MEA was just a major misstep in every direction, even the combat. It didn't feel like a ME game. It felt like a game, sure. But a CoD game.
Me? I don't think that right now's the time to be putting out a brand new IP. Guess we'll see at EAPlay come this weekend.

I would've sold my left nut for a DA/ME like game set in a (more or less) contemporary setting. I can still remember thinking that might be what Anthem was.

Hm... Possibly the best time. The studio is diverting attention from past mistakes with a new and potentially successful game. Don't get me wrong. I like DA and ME series. Game studios need to try something different now and then. David Weber, a well known sci-fi writer once said writing the same thing (series ) over and over will get the mind stale. That's why he branched out into other stories then came back to continue on the older ones.
I believe it applies to all game studios.

What hostility and why? Haven't heard much about Anthem other than this board. Perhaps I've spent too much time online. There's a fair bit of hostility on YouTube against mostly EA, and against BioWare for killing Mass Effect and Anthem for killing Mass Effect. That said if such individuals were so keen on saving Mass Effect perhaps they shouldn't have wallowed in the 'my face hurts' memes at launch defining MEA. Maybe 'mainstream folk' are less hostile as this recent poll suggests: Well that' s unfortunate. Bioware ain't perfect and I was certainly pissed that MEA was killed, but I don' think they deserve hate and hostility.

They keep talking about BioWare in past tense, as if it's dead, and they blame EA for everything and say BioWare haven't made a worthwhile game since ME3 (sans ending). I can understand being disappointed MEA had some issues at launch, and maybe not as good of a story as ME1, but people are being outright ridiculous! DAI was, unlike MEA, met with a lot of praise and seems to have been one of their more popular games, so bashing it is more of a personal preference than something that reflects mainstream opinion. I really hope they can manage to build the hype more during E3, I'm looking forward to Anthem (although not as much as ME or DA) and I really want it to do well.

Of course, I want it to be an amazing game I can play with friends and still retain the distinct BioWare-feel to it, and I want other people to like it as well.

The mainstream hate for DAI started after The Witcher 3 released. It's an interesting historical revision caused by social media pressure (i.e. the pressure to "fit-in", DAI was out, TW3 was in). I'm not sure if I want BioWare to build more hype of Anthem. There isn't a lots of people hyped for it here, but elsewhere on the web the game is already overhyped, probably to catastrophic level already. BioWare will never live up to what some people are expecting.

Anthem demo #2 will generate its own hype for graphical display.
I'm unsure about the actual game play or solo adventuring. Exploration with the Nomad in Andromeda felt lackluster after the hype and I fear the delivery of Anthem vs marketing will turn out to be similar. No doubt, Anthem will be described as the 8th Wonder of the World.
