Good thing they removed that garbage music. They should've hired Mick Gordon to do the music score for DMC.

There found you i need your expertise. It's OT but once again Capcom's scanned head meshes are the issue, and this time it's much worse than Aloy, and Claire Redfield combined. Dante's and Vergil's face model - Maxim Nazarov Dante circa Devil May Cry V Vergil circa Devil May Cry V Wth happened ? Vergil's face lacks wrinkles and blemishes but why does he look so off from Dante's mesh despite them being twins. Here's a link to the DMC thread since this is considered off topic. bsn.boards.net/thread/15117/devil-cry?page=1 Oh haha I've watched enough anime and seen/played Japanese games to see what happened - Virgil got hit by 'Japanese villain' syndrome. By that I mean he is subtly made to look like many villain or antagonist or dynamic characters are across Japanese mediums - they are supposed to look cool as ice. The smirk especially is a giveaway. Can't have a character of that type without that smug tiny smirk, smooth complexion and a cool haircut. I can't say I'm surprised - DMC doesn't hit me as a game that tries to feel or look too realistic, so they went to different places design-wise. Dante, on the other hand, is supposed to look more rugged. I don't really think that similarities between his design and Geralt's (longer hair that also happens to be silver/white, sexy stubble, Geralt's trademark wrinkly eye squint, lol) from TW3 are coincidental Anyway - I think they made both characters stand apart from themselves or their face model because... well... there are two characters who use the same face model. Gotta differentiate between the two somhow, especially that - I assume - there are significant differences between their personalities or motivations (I don't really follow DMC universe even though I've been curious about the franchise for a while). Add Devil May Cry more expressive and less realistic approach to animation and design and you'll easily get yourself a situation where characters don't look very close to how the face 'donor' looks IRL. Short tangent - I continue to be fascinated with differences in design between productions from different parts of the world or different studios. Even if Japanese games use caucasian or unspecific character models, the idiosyncrasies or preferred design decisions still tend to peek out, at least at places. I think it's spiffy, as is the fact that the gaming/3D medium has the plasticity to make each game stand out even if most AAA games try to increasingly emulate realism.

I think it's spiffy, as is the fact that the gaming/3D medium has the plasticity to make each game stand out even if most AAA games try to increasingly emulate realism. This is a good read. You hit the nail on the head about the series' approach to character design and it's impact on the accuracy of a model's render, but the differences between the brothers will take some getting used to on my part, especially Vergil's appearance. I'm still a little put off by Vergil who went from being mistaken for a member of Tokio Hotel to being mistaken for Mickey Rourke. Regarding your short tangent i agree. Just look at Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry V which were developed by the same studio using the same engine, but the differences in their team's design philosophies have created two very different results in regards to their respective character design. Also if you're still interested in playing the series skip playing DMC2 because it has little to no bearing on the overarching plot, MC is devoid of any personality, hideous art design, non sensical enemy designs, and it play like a tech demo.

I've played DMC5 and the game was very fun!! I stood up all night playing the game and the combat design is awesome. However, the story is disappointing and some characters are a bit cringy to get in to. But nonetheless, it was a very fun game to play in my downtime.

So finally got a chance to play this after it taking over a day to install. Really enjoying it up there with 3 for me. Shame I've already figured out the big twist that is V and the Demon King are Vergil split into two. Guessing Vergil found someway to get rid of his "weak" human side.
