My canon!Mage Hawke Ionie is Red (aggressive/direct/violent) in my head-canon; it is over Bethany's death at the beginning. The only person to whom she hasn't been consistently Red too is Anders.

I always go 70% one type and 30% another. I feel like that makes them more realistic, but it made the Keep a little trickier.
Sarcastic is my favourite, but I also had a ton of fun with my most agg, sometimes sarcastic Hawke too.

Mostly sarcastic/aggressive, or my new fav is aggressive/sarcastic.
I always mixed: so all of my sarcastic/aggressive Hawkes are very different, while their main decisions are same, the difference shows in their relationships, tools, motivations and reactions of the friends, others.

Purple Hawke is my favorite. I love that sad-clown-desperate-for-the-light shit.
Red Hawke is my second fave 'cause they're so sardonic and done with the world.

Purple, because blue is too sickeningly sweet and red is too obnoxious. I think going purple is the only way for Hawke to stay sane, by constantly making fun of the shitstorm that keeps on dumping. Plus, it makes Fenris laugh.

If I were required to go 100% one color, I would go Sarcastic Female Hawke. Had a lot of chuckles from it.
But I think to be totally locked into one tonal choices makes the character a little unreal. After hearing my best friend/lover/sister/brother got kidnapped by a group of dim wits, the only real response should be anger. There are also moments that should be met with kindness and diplomacy, and several hundred moments where humor should be used.
So, 60/10/25 of Sarc/Aggro/Diplomacy is probably my natural playing style when I'm not testing out extremes.

So, 60/10/25 of Sarc/Aggro/Diplomacy is probably my natural playing style when I'm not testing out extremes. For my main purple Hawke, I think I used the Diplo response maybe five or six times. Usually when someone died. I prefer using the purple dialogue options most of the time because it actually makes him seem more real to me - like, this is a guy who puts his foot in his mouth, who doesn't always say the right or sensitive thing. This is someone who masks his pain and anger with humor. Even when Leandra dies, you can hear purple Hawke barely keeping it together ( "You know me. I always save the day...." ). I like that there's still nuance there - and obvious anger and grief - even if you don't choose the red or blue dialogue options.

Purple is what I associate with Hawke above all else, though I've completed a playthrough with mostly the blue/green options.
Still, sometimes I deviate from the standard personality - I'm always hammering red as hard as I can when Cullen arrests Bethany.
Sometimes I get weird outcomes from my preferred option that lead me to pick a different one. I recall once picking a purple option that led to Hawke making a racist remark about dwarves, so I had to correct that - couldn't say that in front of Varric.

I think I saw that one on my last playthrough! Hawke said something about greedy dwarves and Varric was like, "Dwarves aren't the only people capable of greed, you know." Bad Hawke, bad!

I think that's an easy mistake to make in DA2, picking one tone then thinking you have to slavishly stick to it throughout the whole game. Deciding when your Hawke needs to be polite, angry or funny, even when it's not their type, makes for a much more realistic character imo.

All Purple, all the time. The wildly inappropriate and insensitive jokes are the best part.

Love it.

Who doesn't enjoy the odd bit of sarcasm and deflecting with humour from time to time? Also playing Purple Hawke in DA2 is pretty fun too.

Pfft, Diplomacy. I like to be polite with everyone I meet, and Blue allows that. Not to mention my username is literally Blue Princess so I'm like the Princess of Diplomacy, screw mean Sarcastic Hawke.

If I ever take DA2 off my to-do list, I was going to go full-purple to start so I could have a laugh, and then consider other colors to switch it up for any subsequent playthrough.

Purple Hawke will always be the one true Hawke for me I've played mostly blue or red before, but purple just feels like Hawke. (And when you add in the fact that my canon Hawke's father named her Aenorea, you start to realize she comes by her rather questionable sense of humor honestly. Kudos to anyone that gets the joke ) Although I do generally like to stick mostly to one color (opens up some unique dialogue choices) I do mix in the other colors when I feel they are appropriate. For my canon (purple!rogue!)Hawke, that meant going mostly: blue with Bethany, sometimes Fenris, and the (very) few times when even Hawke knew her humor was too far sometimes; and red when family/friends were threatened. Rest of the time it was all purple, all the time. In my headcanon, Aenorea was actually the second Hawke child - Garrett was actually the eldest but was killed at Ostagar (mainly I started my first run with Garrett, liked him but it didn't feel quite right, restarted with a female Hawke, liked her better but didn't want to entirely discard that Garrett). When I gave that Garrett his own full playthrough, I played him as if he was Aenorea's brother. So he ended up being about 60/40ish sarcastic/diplomatic - he shared her questionable sense of humor, but had to be more diplomatic (someone had to talk the Hawke children out of the trouble Aenorea's mouth and Carver's temper kept getting them into...) Purple, because blue is too sickeningly sweet and red is too obnoxious. I think going purple is the only way for Hawke to stay sane, by constantly making fun of the shitstorm that keeps on dumping. Plus, it makes Fenris laugh. This

Mostly blue with some purple and red mixed. Generally i prefer to play diplomatic characters. Yeah diplomatic Hawke is a little too perfect so you need some of the other types mixed in so they're not insufferable.

When I first played DA2 I was new to this whole dialogue wheel thing and I automatically gravitated to the blue/green options - got to be a nice person, right? The more I've played it though, the more I've drifted into purple and to a lesser extent into red as well.
I definitely see a mostly purple Hawke as a character who spends loads of time getting into trouble with Varric and Isabela and drives Aveline up the wall ("Not now, Hawke!). Only downside is Bethany's "You're horrible!" reaction to Hawke's tactless comments to Emeric!

I started as a goody goody paragon, trying to help the world, but the more I played DA and ME the more fun I had being sarcastic and rude to ppl. One of the reason why I love the games, you can play again and experience a different type of character...not many games let you do that.
