I had my confrontation with Myrkul on the Astral Plane after unlocking the door with the four souls. I turned the wrong way by taking the portal back to the academy instead of going through the portal that I didn't know opened for me after dealing with him. I returned to the Academy after wandering around back at Mulsantir and now I can't go back to the headmistress quarters to get back to where I think I'm supposed to be.
