I don't know if this is the right thread for this but I couldn't find a technical help thread so general seemed like the next best thing. I'm having a few issues with Inquisition I can't seem to fix so if anyone has had these issues and/or know how to fix them please let me know, I'd be grateful. The first issue is shadows seems to have a strange banding, mostly around the character's necks. I checked YouTube and other people aren't having this issue as far as I can tell. I'm also having an issue where the framerate keeps dropping in areas like Redcliffe but it also TANKS during spell effects like Walking Bomb (explosion part) and Energy Barrage especially when using the Lightning version. Also possibly related the cutscenes stutter like made, it looks awful, they're supposed to be locked at 30 but they stutter so badly it looks more like 10, it doesn't even happen every time so I don't know what to do to fix these problems. Generally the game is happy playing at 120fps during Redcliffe it goes all over the place, 110, 97, 83, 70. When using those spells it can go Sub-50fps. I started with the Ultra preset but I turned Tessellation and Post-Processing Effects down to High and Ambient Occlusion down to SSAO. I'm not using any Anti-Aliasing. My hardware is a GTX 1080 Palit super jetstream, i7 8700k 4.70ghz, 16GB VRAM, Z370-E Motherboard. The Hardware should be more that capable of everything at max settings so I don't know why I'm struggling, in fact when not in Redcliffe or using those types of spells it IS capable of playing while on max settings. I've tried sticking power management to High Performance and setting performance to 'Prefer Maximum Performance' in the Nvidia Control panel but that doesn't help.

As far as I know, the shadow banding is an engine issue. I know people across different machines with different cards and setups who all have that problem (including myself). I thought it got worse with the last patch, but it could have been my imagination.

I turned shadows down to Medium and it got rid of it...of course this meant the shadows were dis-gusting and I slapped it right back up to Ultra xD
