Couple of responses: On Calix: Yep, he's an idiot. And yep, this is his origin story. We wrote this as his story hidden as his mentor's story (which is why we opened Issue 1 with a flash forward to her final moments, and why after Issue 1, Olivia's voiceover style captions drop out). Olivia's death will change him going forward.
On Gaius (the fake Magister Qintara): He has been reporting to Fen'Harel. But that doesn't mean he's ever met him, nor that Solas has the slightest idea of how Gaius or other of his agents refer to him. Just as Vaea works for the Inquisition but has never met the Inquisitor, Gaius was recruited by an agent who was themselves likely recruited by an agent. He was a slave his whole life, and while he is thrilled to be working for an ancient god reawakened, he doesn't have training in exactly what that entails - he's just been giving information to his fellow agents. I can say with absolute certainty... Fen'Harel would not even have approved of the trading of the weapon for information. But Gaius' mandate was information, so when the weapon was in his hands, he saw it as just another tool to get that information.
As to the weapon... you'll have to wait and see what it is. But we've been setting this particular MacGuffin in motion since the first issue of Knight Errant.
Lastly, Slim... Ser Aaron is not a noble. He's landless and doesn't even have a coat of arms or crest that'd be recognizable. The pendant Olivia stole from Ser Aaron has an image of a Mabari on it. In Ferelden, that's hardly a unique symbol. So what Slim bought was a pendant given by the King to someone, with no real indication which of dozens of minor nobles it could have been. So he bought it. But only afterwards did he realize that Alistair had given a pendant like that to Ser Aaron, and that Olivia had been seen with Ser Aaron.
And stealing from a landless Knight who stands up for the common people at every turn goes against everything Slim Couldry stands for.
And yeah, Olivia knew he'd eventually realize this, so she chose to steal from Couldry instead of Aaron.
I appreciate all your posts here - cheers!

I laughed at the part where Calix didn't want to leave but both Aaron and Francesca talked about how they'd force him. "I'll carry you if I must, boy." "I can put him in a magical stasis."

An interesting place to leave us, more questions than answers but a satisfying ending. Wonder if and how the revelations of this particular comic will impact future events in both the games and comics. We have plenty of players on the gameboard in Tevinter. For now I suppose we can speculate and theorise to are hearts content.

Debating is what makes fandom fun! Just wanted my (and Christina's) intentions to be made clear, where possible. It's always up for debate whether those intentions work, or if they were pulled off well.

Well, I enjoyed that and am definitely looking forward to wherever this goes next! I like that the remaining characters have accidentally formed a proper Dragon Age party with a tank, a mage and a couple of rogues. And a dog!
Really looking forward to House Danarius. (Whatever medium that gets followed up in.)

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I wonder if the Qunari attacked Ventus 1st because their spies learned of the red lyrium weapon that Qintara had?
Then again, if they were hoping to get it, I would think they'd use a more subtle approach rather than an invasion. Still, it does look like they were aware of Qintara and were going after him, so maybe some Qunari spies were successful at infiltrating Solas spy network. This gives me hope that the Inquisition spies will be doing the same.
It is sadly ironic, his agents (with his approval?) lead Corypheus to the Orb, now one of his agents gave the weapon to a magister.

Attacking Qarinus (I refuse to call it Ventus) is the logical choice if embarking on an assault on mainland Tevinter because of its strategic importance. They took the city early on back in the Steel Age and attempted to do so again back in 9:12 but that was an embarrassing failure that led Sten to question the actions of his superiors and suggest they should improve their spy network in order to have a better chance of success in the future.
So whilst they could have targeted the city this time because of the presence of red lyrium that was revealed by their spies, it seems more likely that it was just the first move in the renewed push against Tevinter but if their spies had discovered something dodgy going on there, it would account for why they would make sure it was dealt with as well.

You know Solas' plans really don't go well do they? He is really unlucky with his agents.
Felassan was meant to recover control of the eluvians. Instead he gives them to Briala.
Un-named agent was meant to give orb to some chump who could unlock it and get blasted. Instead Corypheus survives and ultimately the orb gets shattered.
New agent in Tevinter messes up and gives away potentially powerful weapon to get information that Solas probably knew anyway.
"How are you going to deal with the Evanuris Solas?"
"I have plans."
This does not bode well.

Thank you for the response. I have some questions too and I hope you can answer them: He already answered this question. See Page 15 of this thread.
"Not to worry - Bioware wouldn't let us kill Dorian. Not sure what his fate is beyond our story, though..."
But i have one. Why isn´t Deception included in the Dragon Age Libary Edition Volume 2?
And just out of curiosity how many pages have Deception in total?
I don´t expect that this enough to justify Dragon Age Libery Edition Volume 3 alone.

Why isn´t Deception included in the Dragon Age Libary Edition Volume 2? I don´t expect that this enough to justify Dragon Age Libery Edition Volume 3 alone. That’s probably true, which is why there’s going to be another comic to follow this one. This is the endgame: recovering the red lyrium whatever from House Danarius.

Solas plan usually work better when he involves himself on the execution of them. Isn't that a statement that could be made about every big bad guy? If the ArchDemon had struck before the Warden could be Organized, Fereldan would be blighted off the map. If ... actually, the bad guy in DA2- was a shifting target so I have no idea on that front Coryphaeus tried only once, at Haven, to get his target. And nearly succeeded too. Why he didn't immediately try again, personally, I have no idea. And it's not just Dragon Age that suffers from the problem of the Big Bad sending out increasingly more difficult peons as if it were an extended training montage before finally appearing themselves far too late.

But we would like it not to be a trap Solas falls into. All that cleverness and wisdom only for him to end up a raging cliche and a failure at being a successful bad guy. We want to out clever him, not out last his stupidity
