Haha damm! And here I am with my 10K debt xD And the average interest rate is 5-8% depending on where you live and what kind of loan you take. It is not uncommon for people to wind up paying almost double the amount that they took in loans. Interesting. Over here we literally have no interest rate over it.

I like my job, but its no where near perfect. Though show me a job that is.
I like my work location, I like how quiet my co-workers are, I enjoy the in house cafeteria, and I really like what I do.
Overall, I'd say I'm quite happy here. My single issue is the paycheck. In that, its not great. Its actually pretty poor for my geographic location. So I can't afford to move out of my parent house, even though i'm 31 years old. Heck, atm, I'm struggling to save up enough funds to buy a new wardrobe. My old clothes no longer fit me, but I'm just breaking even week to week. Not really able to do more then that.

Work in computer repair and custom builds. Hope that most of the public stays oblivious to the inner workings electronics... lest I would then be out of a job. Pays quite well but then again I am frugal.
Guess I am one of the lucky few who have no college debt. IpPlanned for college and after from 3rd grade: Only went with scholarships & grants and never even looked at loans. Worked hard to acquire what would be needed for those grants and scholarships. If that meant living on a budget of $25 a week for food so be it.

I get paid hanging around the office and telling people what to buy for lunch. I have no debts but I am also paying my brother's orthodontics school tuition. That's almost $100k USD a year.

I think I have a really good job.
I work in Health Services Research at a university, doing mostly data management and some statistics. Having a lot of experience but lacking a formal qualification, I make somewhat less money than most of my colleagues, but I also get to avoid some of the more tedious tasks associated with their job (for instance, I don't need to teach), and my job is way more secure. My work is easy for me but would be hard for most of my colleagues, so I'm valued but don't have to put in more than normal working hours most of the time. Long days happen now and then but are rare enough that it's no bother. Also, we are a really good team and the atmosphere at work is great. The only serious downside that in the past, I haven't made enough to buy some real estate, and now, where I do, it's too late to start.

I don't know how I found this thread. I was looking for one on tea. But I'm an environmental activist. My job right now is to help homeowners and small businesses reduce their carbon footprint and save money by doing it- but I also do all the things you'd expect an activist to do. It'll be full-time next month unless I decide to do something else with my econ. degree. I like what I do.

I've just stumbled across this thread as well. A good job would pay your bills; a great job would do that and would be enjoyable as well. I've got two jobs and I can barely pay for anything. So I can firmly say that I have shitty jobs

I just accepted a job that I don't really want tbh, is pure back breaking levels of manual labor and requires 0 brain power, is a dead end, but pays well enough. I'm fresh out of University and following the principle that in order to get a job you have to have a job so just frantically applied everywhere, most of the jobs I want actually require a move to another city and state so the money coming in will be nice in order to help me make the move in the future, though its actually inspired me to keep applying for some jobs i'd actually like in my region, and get involved in the job-seeking process a bit more in depth since I don't plan on staying long and will probably be miserable while there.
Nothings worse than being unemployed and on government support though, I did it once some years back and wanted to blow my brains out

I love my job, usually -- bad side its 1h to get to workplace and 1h to get to home. Work in game QA, I get to play various games, sometimes before they're on sale, sometimes older games. One thing I hate though, touch screen games aka mobile games.

Please tell more It was the late 80's and I had taken a gap year between high school and Uni, so I was living alone in London aged 17. The best bang for my buck was working nights for a friend who ran a phone sex line. These things were huge in the late 80's/ early 90's, not so much now I guess. Most of the customers wanted incredibly boring shit, but occasionally someones fantasy would be super gross and/or hilarious.

I have been the Key Grip and Gaffer at the same time, on an Apple commercial, yesterday and today.
The job is paying well below scale, which I took because I was bored. However, when I discovered who the client was I got a little pissed.
Oh well, I am a lighting God, everything looks great, the guys are doing a great job. My job sucks and I like it.

I've been unemployed for months more than once, not a fun experience. After the first bout I re-educated myself from teacher to HR-person, a field that was supposed to be more easy to find a job... only to discover that I did not have the contacts needed. I finally secured a small temporary position as a research assistant for a private organization. After that job I secured my other job, which is a soon-to-be permanent position as a university administrator. I had to move though, which really sucked and I don't feel at home in my new city even though it's pretty.
All in all, my new job is in many ways great (good pay, really good contract, calm workplace) but I still feel that this isn't what I want for myself. Living away from friends and family really is taking a toll on me as well, and I'm not making any new friends at work since most of them are middle-aged men and women with nothing really in common with me. I just hope I can move back in the future, and I especially hope to find work that doesn't bore me so much.

More and more I keep thinking that being a teacher is the perfect job.
Not because of the two months free in Summer. Not because of the (roughly) six hour work days. Not because of the guaranteed free weekends.
But precisely because of 8AM-2PM, Monday-Friday, September-June.
Precisely because of the time you are AT WORK. Giving knowledge - in more ways than one. Teaching children not only facts, but also critical thinking, taking everything with a grain of salt... You shape children as much as their parents, and in some cases, more than their parents.
Even now, not being anywhere close to schools, when I get the chance to teach someone something, I encourage them to think for themselves. Find out everything about their options and consider them.
Because teaching is it's own reward.

The weekends free? They are generally doing such things during that. Don't even get me started on the work weeks of teachers at universities.

well I have to say being in the military was one of the best decisions I ever made, I mean I never really had just one job, even when working 30 hour shifts we never knew exactly what was going to happen on a day to da basis, indeed sometimes it would end up longer some would end up shorter... besides what other "job" sends you to school to earn qualifications in multiple disciplines? I mean I got a degree in electronic engineering, becasme a fully qualified paramedic, got a qualification in environmental health, became a water quality technician, had a blue light certification, became a fully certified bodyguard, got qualified in hazardous materials storage, handling and transportation, got a degree in logistics specialising in accounts and warehouse management, got a qualification as a cook, got qualifications in IT (several of them) and other things yet despite all of that I got to retire at 35 on a pension that pays me around 20% of my working income... and thats ignoring the amount of times I got to play wiht things that went boom or ram tracked vechiles into stuff... its like being paid to live through every little boys dream, I wont say I loved every minute of it but I never got upset at the boring parts, in many ways they beat the terrifying ones

Been unemployed for almost a month. Collecting unemployment while I'm between residences (Bronx to 60-70 miles north). Will get a day job to save up to go back to school to get an MSW or possibly LCSW. Goal is to work with LGBT homeless youth. It took be 48 years to figure out what I want to do with my life.
Prior jobs: waiter, retail, bank teller, warehouse worker and substitute teacher. A hell of a range of jobs and not a single one of them a career.

My job is allright but the pay is crap. I'm working as a production process engineer but my salary is only MYR 2600 every month which is pathetic. Previously I worked as quality control chemist in the same factory for 1.5 years before I was promoted and my pay was MYR 2300.
I'm waiting for the salary increment that my manager has promised me. I don't have much hope for it though because there are others who were promoted and promised salary increments by this same manager but he didn't deliver.
My goal is to find a job in a place like Singapore or Canada or USA with decent pay and move out of Malaysia. Being part of a racial minority (Indian) and religious minority (I'm an agnostic) is not a good thing - Most groups don't want you around.
I'm currently staying with my parents - Look at the pay I have and you'll understand why. Increasingly I can't stand them either. For one, they want me to find a girlfriend and get married (indirect hints and pressure) but I love being single. Secondly, they're the ones who are the culprits and making me stop gaming (they don't like me playing video games on a PC, they see it as wasteful and bad even though for some reason they're okay with my brother playing video games on his PSP and phone). Thirdly, they keep trying to force me to go to temples to pray and attend religious festivities even though I'm agnostic.
If not for the fact that I like working at my job, I would have gone crazy a while back.

I have had good jobs. Terrific jobs.
From 2014-2016 I had the best job I've ever had. Wonderful job. I was a tools programmer for a healthcare charity. I enjoyed the work, I liked the people, and I loved the city it was in. Wonderful job.
Then I had to move to a different city for dumb reasons, and I got a job as a government bureaucrat (they don't like it when I call it that, though). This is the worst job I've ever had. Luckily, I still do the old job on the side, remotely, part-time. It's not the same, but it's something. It's also the only productive work I do, because working for the government is a soul-destroying web of inefficiency and deceit.
I don't recommend it.
I didn't answer the poll question, because I have two jobs (with an angle on a third), and my view of them is very different.

In the 90s I worked the night shift at an answering service, and my primary task was transcribing alpha-numeric pager messages. People would call and leave a message, and I would type it out to send to someone's pager. But I worked nights. Who was using pagers at 3:00 am? Drug dealers and prostitutes, mostly, with the occasional industrial accident thrown in to keep things interesting. So I guess my job was hookers-and-blow-adjacent.
