Can you take motion sickness pills? Or the patch behind the ear? Pills make me sleepy, so I avoid them, also, some of them can be addictives if you use them often. I've tried almost everything ...the few things that work fine on me for the car sickness doesn't work for the video games sickness. Bad luck really. The problem with motion sickness is that your eyes and inner ear send 2 different informations to your brain. The eyes say you're moving (the character on the screen) and the inner ear you're not moving (because you're sitting on a sofa). The conflict cause sickness. And after seen many doctors, it appears I'm hyper sensitive to the problem. The only thing that work a little is (you'll laugh) to cheat the brain : to seal one of your ear and the brain will conclude that the inner ear is not working... so it will only trust the eyes.... no conflict. Yes I could write a book about motion sickness and how it ruins my life as a player Really sorry to hear about your motion sickness, and I can understand the pain here. I do remember the first Half-Life game making me physically ill, and yet all of the other first person shooters are okay for me. Having similar issues with Sunset Overdrive no thanks to the stupidly bright saturated colors nearly blinding me. Bright colors + fast-paced gameplay does not mix well for me.

I never played half life because of that, but people often name this game when they talk about motion sickness. Look like even people who don't suffer MS get sick with Half Life

Just saw some of it on stream. Game mechanics isn't any different from other survival mmos I've watched; I found all of them boring after a while, btw. But it's still early days before any one could get off planet so I'll see what will develop in the following days. I have to say though, the devs forgot to include some physics. I watched the player collect iron from a pillar like structure. He zapped everything at the bottom but the top was still magically standing upright. gonna be like DA: Inquisition I suppose Heh. I took another look just now. Players are now planet hopping and doing the same things; zap zap to collect materials, upgrade this and that. Jump in ship, switch planet, zap zap, here's a lore object, reads it, moves on, zap zap, oh run into critters, aren't they cute ... or not, collect the wrong thing and the local bots or fauna will attack. Rinse and repeat. Discoveries can be renamed though how useful that is going to be I've no idea. I don't remember seeing any player interaction with other players though I think I saw the interior of a big ship. Nothing fancy though. Seems a lonely game.

Like I posted before, the game isn't for everyone. People who don't like grinding and upgrading with little to no story won't like it. I love this game. Then again, I loved DAI too and I know plenty of Bioware fans who hated the grind in it.

I think they should add in a function to return to planets you've been to before. If base building is making it into the game, something like that would be all the more important.

It's interesting but definitely a slow burn. I found out last night that you don't want to wait until the last second before dropping out of warp speed. Also that your ship bounces, no matter how fast your going.

I think I just had a dream about No Man's Sky and it was like Spore.... I sort of get the same feeling at least. Like it's a good idea like Spore, but the game itself doesn't live up to the idea. But I guess I'll see..

I'm thinking about getting it... thing is I see this as the type of game that will interest me for a week or two, maybe three, and slowly I'll lose interest and it will feel like $60 wasted. Especially since there are other games I'm much more certain will hold me interest upcoming.

Just my personal outlook on it: I know it has only been a few days so I can't say how I'll feel in a few weeks, but right now I feel like I've done most of what's in the game... BUT I still feel like I want to start it up and go exploring some more. I feel like a lot of the reason it's not getting a ton of great press is that it's really difficult to say why I still feel like playing it.

So apparently I have a game-breaking bug.... no ships have hyperdrives in then except my pre-order ship. Even 4 million dollar ships. I might have to start all over.

You can build and install hyperdrives though. You just gotta get the recipe. I got it on step two or three of the main quest. If you opted out of the main quest, then I assume you get it by invading the planetary installations that the sentinels guard. There are several on each planet and I've gotten a crafting recipe from each one. You gotta solve the puzzle and shut off the alarm though.

I feel like a lot of the reason it's not getting a ton of great press is that it's really difficult to say why I still feel like playing it. I think the bad press comes from what people got hyped up over versus what we got. On top of the fact that this game was so massively over hyped it couldn't possibly live up to it if it were made by a AAA studio, much less a team of ~10 people what I, and many others, were excited for was this expansive universe that we could get lost in and go exploring to find really cool stuff. From everything I've seen what we got is sort of that, but it's constantly interrupted by the survival half of the game and the need to constantly gather resources and craft new equipment. Which isn't bad if that's what you like, but that's not what was exciting to me with No Man's Sky and now I'm thinking that it looks kind of underwhelming for my personal tastes and I'll probably wait for either a sale or some content patches.

I'm trying to save for a gaming PC, plus I'm starting a new job. And there are great games just around the corner, so I think I'll probably hold off on purchasing anything I don't feel too strongly about.
