I'd say I'm a reserved fan of this series. Saw T 1 & 2 multiple times. Only watch T 3 once, and have yet to see any of the other films. Watched the odd episode of the TV show, but then it was canceled.
As I have gotten older, I have wondered how the Terminator series would befit if we got a more refined, and scientific, approach to AI and how a machine intelligence would act. The crux of the setting has always been based on the notion that autonomous technology is bad; though not quite to the point that it adopts an outright luddite outlook. I do think that Skynet should be revised though. I mean it's literally the poster child of the "kill all humans"/murderbot trope in modern cinema.
Giving Skynet and it's Terminators a bit more depth than simply wanting them to kill all humans, though specifically John Connor's family, because…reasons would be a nice refreshing take on the series I would think. I'm not saying make Skynet the good guy, but if this is an AGI we are talking about then there would have to be a reason why it concluded that humanity had to be wiped out; a motivation that is more than just "robots are evil". From a logical standpoint it doesn't' make sense why Skynet would want to stick around Earth and waste effort in inventing time travel, just to ensure that the leader of the human resistance was never born. There are far more resources to be had in space, and precisely zero human presence to muck around and disrupt operations.
Skynet could go out and start harvesting asteroids, or building von neumann probes to go colonize the galaxy with instead of wasting it's time on Earth dealing with humanity. Hell, humans wouldn't even pose a direct threat to its continued existence if Skynet didn't have such an obsession with wiping them out.

They need this model to show up. One of the most bangable of terminators. Fixed it for you.
(If sending a hot chick to seduce/kill a teenage John Connor had been Skynet's plan from the start, it'd have won easily)

To hearken back to my earlier post;
If the T-800 had been sent back to seduce Sarah Connor, Skynet would have won easily. No offense to Kyle Reese, but do we really think vapid!Sarah from the first film would have picked him for a one-night-stand when presented with a muscle-bound Austrian instead?

Sure, but Kyle Reese is a great hero. This video seemed like a good analysis as to why he's one of the greatest on screen heroes in film. That was a great video and sums up why Kyle Reese has always ranked on my list of all-time favourite characters in film.
And why it frustrates me to no end how much they butchered that character in Genisys.
Biehn played Reese with the intensity of someone who's life spent hiding from the machines has left him constantly on edge. He barely sleeps, shows clear signs of PTSD and has become so desensitised to pain that he barely reacts to it anymore.
The video doesn't mention it, but in a deleted scene, Sarah punches him during an argument and he instinctively pulls a gun on her, before realising what he's doing and he suffers a minor breakdown. As he explains to her, the world he's now in so full of beauty and life, he cannot process it because nothing like that exists anymore for him. Even something so innocuous as picking a blade of grass from the ground is treated like an overwhelmingly alien experience for him, as if he's never had the opportunity to do it before.
Courtney played him like a generic dude-bro, lacking any of the depth of character that Biehn had.
(Even Salvation, despite that movie's problems, did the character more justice, thanks in part to Yelchin putting in a solid performance)

Jai Courtney was brutally miscast. Kyle Reese ain't no bitch ass beta male that gets upstaged by someone half his size. The man 1v1'd a T-800 and wrecked it bad enough that it could barely function. Yelchin's Reese would definitely kick his ass. I'd love to see Beihn get some hespect via a cameo for once. He seems to be forgotten about.

The career of Michael Biehn has been very disappointing to me.
After T1, I really thought he would be the dude for years.
Then there was Navy Seals.
Then ???
...
I don't know, but I would have to guess at substance abuse.

Are they really remaking Terminator with all-female leads? Yeah, it worked so well with Ghostbusters that they want a repeat.

Not all female leads its just them gloating about muh feminism with that pic. Arnold's still the star and John Connor will be the main focus I suppose though Linda Hamilton returning is the main attraction for me. She was pretty good in Defiance so she can definitely still "turn it up" so to speak.

She played that role so perfectly a female lead opposite Schwarzenegger made complete sense.
Feminism is a different thing. When it comes to equality, I'm all for it. When it turns into "we were all abused" I lose interest. Unfortunately, those extremists are the loudest and ruin the movement.

Linda Hamilton: coke & heroin Arnie: steroids Edward Furlong: coke (always happens with kid stars) Biehn: also coke And just for the record, Carrie Fisher was sky high after Star Wars.
