Don't you mean T5? Up till T4, the movies followed the time line. T1 is a timeloop. Judgement day starts on a specific date, and Kyle gets sent back with the picture Sarah takes at the end of the movie. The whole movie is the reason John is trained and ready to fight Skynet. They don't change the future, and Skynet is actually part of its own downfall. T2 Judgement Day is supposedly stopped, but is in fact changed/delayed per T3, which leads to T4 Salvation (just gonna assume T3 lead to T4 here). T5 has more Terminators changing the timeline and Sarah, so the encounter that originally took place in T1 now has a T1000 and a bunch of other stuff. T6 is yet another change - but is actually pretty consistent as T1 was in bringing about its own future timeline, because Dani appears to know Grace when she meets her in the future as a kid. It would have been so much easier to follow the Terminator time line if T5 never happened (or at lest continue from T4). Hell, there were plenty of books about the Terminator they could have used.

Not reading any thing. I'll see it tomorrow. The studios sure is pimping this movie hard with all the money spent on television ads and such. Better be worth it.

Better idea for a Terminator sequel... A Terminator film where the human resistance must reset the timeline so that Judgement Day occurs on August 29th 1997 (as it originally was meant to), having almost lost the war in the future. Turns out the attempts to delay Judgement Day in previous films only ended up shooting humanity in the foot, as it meant that decades more technology was at the Machine's disposal when they began the war. Think about it... all the Resistance had to do to stop OG Skynet from the 90s was get into the (well-guarded) bunker that it's mainframe was located within, plant explosives and run. Maybe cut any landlines to prevent it from trying to escape via the internet, if it even can (Skynet's program might be too huge for 90's bandwidth to even handle). To stop Skynet from 2019, the job would be nigh-impossible as it wouldn't have been designed to have a centralised server. More likely it exists across multiple servers connected via the internet, as well as have the capacity to easily transfer itself via Wi-fi to any mobile device on the planet or to any satellites in orbit, those that survived the war or ones it may have built later on. Therefore it would make more tactical sense for the human resistance to want Judgement Day to happen earlier. That would be the best scenario for humanity to stand a chance at winning once and for all, by limiting Skynet's advantage by giving it the worst possibly tech options to start with. Maybe some people wouldn't like all the sacrifices made to stop/delay Judgement Day in previous movies would now be in vain... but the point is that in those movies at least, they tried to do the right thing and did in fact succeed in saving the world, even if it might have ended up being not the best thing down the line. Another possibility though is that the timeline from the original Terminator (the one we're recreating) might not be the "original" timeline at all, but rather takes place within a huge timeloop that keeps being unmade and then remade again.
Furthermore, it might be possible that the extended loop across multiple timelines actually builds upon itself in each iteration, so that not all things do happen the same way each time. Despite the Resistance being forced to reset things in this loop in order to win, they express the hope that maybe they'l be able to figure out how to delay Judgment Day and defeat Skynet the next time around?

The problem with time travel, going back in time is now you have fractured the timeline continuum and now we got alternate timelines with alternate futures. If Skynet was actually intelligent if it felt the need to go back in time, go back to a time where technology can't be used against a terminator like Sarah Conner's great grandfathers time or earlier and wipe out her family line so she could never exist. Now Dark Fate was good, not on par of excellence of T1 or T2 but far better than the movies released since T2. One problem is, the remaining heroes just left future technology at the bottom of the dam.
*Edit can't spell.

Well, with that plot contrivance there is actually a logical reason why they don’t: With the nuclear war, no doubt most of not all records regarding the Connor family before things like the Internet were destroyed so chances are they didn’t know who her ancestors were let alone where and when to find them. As for the spoiler part That’s always the case, isn’t it? I mean even in T2 they left Arnold’s severed arm in the gears which is used to create Skynet just like the arm and chip in the first film, just delayed a bit until T3.

Arnie's severed arm by itself wouldn't amount to much, it's just damaged metal in the shape of an skeletal arm. Absent the A.I. chip, all one could do from it is assemble a metal skeleton and that's about it.

In the original movie T1, I believe that Skynet's choice to use time travel was out of desperation, and the technology was experimental. The franchise's use of time travel to repeatedly rewrite history highlights the paradox - if time travel is possible, then it would eventually be perfected, and people from the future would be doing it all the time, changing the past to create a better future.

I don’t disagree, however that was the explanation for why Judgement Day wasn’t stopped but just delayed until T3 iirc. So wreckage at the end of this film doesn’t surprise me since it’s the trend for this series when it comes to leaving the door open for sequels.

Just as Skynet was about to lose the final battle, it sends the Terminators back in time to eliminate the cause of it losing.

I mean, it has got it problems, but it is certainly not a stinker. Of course, the Blade Runner sequel was pretty fantastic, but that didn't do so well at the box office either. Maybe this type of movie only appeals to older geeks or something, cuz younger geeks got their own shit.

Forgot to comment about the all powerful AIs name, Legion. How original. Named after a demon/devil. At least Genisys made more sense of a name for computer software and it had a unique spelling.

I'm glad T6 portrayed Mexico as an actual functioning country, with police and jobs, instead of the crime infested hell-hole it keeps showing up in recent movies as.

Tracked and watched a link for a free stream of the film, but it was dubbed in Russian and not subbed. Will give my opinion on DF after watching it in english because i didn't understand what the fuck was anybody talking about.
