Man, I'm straining my eyes trying to recognize anyone in that photo. If you don't see Cassandra, maybe we are getting an all new cast for the next game? Kal-Sharok dwarf ... OOOOOOOH.

If you mean the lady with the brown, sometimes braided hair - my first thought was also Cassandra but now I'm thinking she looks more like Tessa from the Magekiller comic. That dwarf lady is a real mystery, though! Her hair looks a little dark for Harding (though I have my fingers crossed), and she doesn't look as ghostly pale as Valta... she could be just a generic NPC. It'd be really cool if she was a Kal'Sharok dwarf. It's possible Kal-Sharok will play some role in the next game, although the capital is supposed to be underneath territory that's between Orlais and the Anderfels (they could explore the 'mystery' of their survival, which is eluded to in WoT). I suspect the dwarven protagonist in the next game will likely be from the Ambassadoria.

But if that image is possibly of a companion (or just an important NPC), they could really be from anywhere. We had a companion from all the way in Par Vollen in DAO, so I don't rule anything out. Feels good to have something to speculate about, though.

A Kal-Sharok companion could add to the mystery of the place, much in the same way that we slowly learned about the Qunari controlled islands of Seheron and Par Vollen. There could also be the enigma of why a member of Kal-Sharok is in the Imperium. A lot of possibilities to play with. I imagine playing as a dwarf should be a very unique experience in Tevinter, especially given the dwarven monopoly on the lyrium trade and how widely circulated its use is in Tevinter. I'd imagine a Tevinter mage would react very differently towards a dwarven main character from the Ambassadoria than if dealing with a rival human or a potential elf or qunari (especially as the dwarves are technically dignitaries in the Imperium, and are exempt from certain dangers that can befall other races).

Unrelated to the above discussion, but since we mentioned Harding earlier I feel compelled to post all the videos of her very special relationship with the Inquisitor. And I ask myself, Lace, why don't you have a romance tile in the Keep?!

The dwarves' relationship with Tevinter is so fascinating to me. It's not as clear cut as it is with the elves or the qunari. One of the most pro-magic factions in the setting being buddy-buddy with the only race that's cut off from the Fade. Stabbing that map of Tevinter as a dwarf feels strangely transgressive! I find it interesting that despite their longstanding business relationship, dwarves still aren't considered quiiiiite as good as (magical) humans in Tevinter. Or even mundane ones, who knows? Maevaris certainly faced criticism for being in a romantic relationship with Thorold.

So when you're playing a DC and saying your goodbyes to Rica and Leske... you're surrounded by the Proving Master and a bunch of guards and I only just now bothered to click on them to see what they had to say.
"I cannot believe Duncan would offer such an honor."
"You're lucky they didn't execute you on the spot, brand. I would've."
"That offer should've gone to my brother."
"The headsman is already sharpening the axe for you."
"Go to the surface where you belong."
"There's no way you could have won without cheating."
"I can't believe it. A dirty little duster..."
"(Spits)"
"The Wardens may want you, but you're still nothing down here."
"Just the kind of trash a human would pick up."
"You deserve to die for insulting the ancestors."
Holy shit lmao. Dwarves have zero chill.

Well, for males, I like Korbin the most. He's a multiplayer character, but can be found on the battlements of Skyhold in LotD armor. Same badassery as Kardol (from DAO) and has the proper facial hair for a dwarf. Varric is great, but he is beardless. =p Korbin is more of a traditional dwarf warrior, which appeals to me. Second runner-up with the same vibes is Lieutenant Renn from the Descent DLC. (#Sorrynotsorry for the butt shot. I was actually focusing on the LotD detail. =p) As for female dwarf, hmm. There were zero female dwarves in DA2 so the available choices are pretty limited. Valta from the Descent DLC would be my pick. I am also influenced by her being a dedicated Orzammar dwarf instead of a surfacer.

You can't just like my post. You have to answer it, too! =p For what it's worth, those are some quality butt shots! And I'm terribly intrigued by Korbin anyway (not just his booty or fine facial hair) and would love to have someone like him as a companion. A very traditional dwarf who also appreciates the beauty of the surface. But, ahem: if we're talking about the series as a whole, I thought Leske was ruggedly handsome. And Varric in DA2 was the most attractive dude in the game, bar none. For the ladies, I'm gonna have to go with Dagna. Valta is elegant and Harding is cute, but Dagna has dem lips.

Renn was a pretty cool guy. And David Hayter's voice, whooo... *fans self*
Is it just me or was the character modeled on the VA? They look eerily similar.

Well, it hasn't been officially confirmed to my knowledge, but looking at the photos, come on, of course they did. =p Our characters are also collecting metal gears in the DLC, too, which is clearly another tip of the hat to him. And either my googlefu has failed me or I've only found the world's shortest interview on the character of Renn. You say you like to play a diverse cast of characters, and it shows in your repertoire – from Republique's Daniel Zager to Dragon Age: Inquisition's Lieutenant Renn. How do you get into character for your various roles?Well, I just try to find the reality of the character. I try to imagine what I would do in various situations, and how each world would've shaped me. So, in Dragon Age, he was a dwarf soldier so I imagined the pressures of someone at war.
When I did Snake, I auditioned with essentially my normal speaking voice. I was pretty young, I was 28 or so. I got the script and the first scene revealed that he had already pretty much retired from the military, had already become a legend and gotten out, and they were pulling him back in. So I thought: 'He's got to be older than me, he's got to have [drops into Snake voice] been through some things and been worked over in a number of ways.' Adding that weight of years and cynicism to the voice gave it the quality that it became.
It really comes from the script and trying to bring as much reality to it as possible. My character Zager in Republique is a revolutionary who's living in the walls essentially of a huge Orwellian conspiracy, so he was a little erratic, a little more unpredictable, he was getting his message through in his voice so it had a little more of a DJ thing to it. So you just try to take all the elements that are unique to the character and try to convey them in the personality of the voice.www.develop-online.net/interview/snake-s-tale-david-hayter-on-recognising-actors-working-with-kojima-and-plans-for-his-own-game/0222646

Also, completely unrelated to the above but there's this thread on reddit about racism in Thedas and this part (in an otherwise serious topic) legit made me laugh out loud.

LOL, that was funny. I laughed out loud, too.
It was actually the exact same mindset I had towards Morrigan when she tried to talk Aeducan into doing the dark ritual. I had Loghain at that point and she told me he'd get all the glory if he got the killing blow. I remember thinking ... "So?" Those were his people, not mine. No f**ks given. Really disappointed in how the dark ritual fizzled out storywise. I theorized that if all the Old Gods were dead, then darkspawn wouldn't have any reason to be in the Deep Roads and the dwarves could begin to rebuild. Morrigan negotiating to recycle an Old God was a massively uphill battle for her. (I was stoked to have my line of thinking validated by the Grey Wardens in DAI though! That was trippy.)

With only Razikale and Lusacan (and possibly "Draconis"?) left, I worry what's going to happen to the dwarves. (And everyone else, but the dorfs are going to be hit first and hardest, I think.) Especially given Solas's reaction to what happened at Adamant. He seems pretty certain that going through and preemptively offing the Old Gods is bad news bears. I mean, not that I really trust him... for all we know, that scenario would be bad for the ancient elves and turn out pretty okay for everyone else..? Gah, ignore me! Not enough sleep! I think letting Loghain kill the AD is one of the most Aeducan-y reactions I can think of. I have a Brosca playthrough where I convinced Loghain to do the DR even though my character was male, because he thought that dwarven fertility problems + Warden + interspecies was definitely not going to result in a baby no matter what kind of whacko magic Morrigan had under her belt. Literally.

I think it's bad news for Solas probably. The guy is planning on nuking us all anyway with his reset button. If we replay our Inquisitor, OK, I'll continue the "but Solas is my friend" RP. If it's a brand-new protagonist, best believe I will be gunning for him.

Yeah, our new Dwarven pc won't have any ties to our elven friend. Maybe Solas will go easy on the new dwarf pc, since Inquisitor Cadash changed his mind about the whole race. No pressure, right? Dagna has to be the cutest dwarf npc, following by Gilsa's blonde hair inquisitor Cadash as a non-NPC. I would really love a warrior female dwarf in the group by just looking at concept art.

Was lurking on reddit again and I found this thread speculating on how old various characters are using in-game evidence, the toolset, WoT, etc. Just thought I'd drop these off because... dorfs. Also, I think I remember reading at some point that the age of majority in Orzammar is 14? Or that's when you can join the army, at least? Something like that. If so, it means these super young Wardens are actually well into adulthood in their society. Dwarf life is rough and ages you!

It always makes me laugh that the CC lets you make these old, rough looking Wardens when every Origin places your age around late teens to mid twenties . My casteless dwarf Warden definitely looks older than 19 but, as you said, it's not too difficult to believe living as a casteless in Orzammer ages the hell out of you.
