Huh - big effing spoiler there: apparently we're going to defeat the Dominion.
No big surprise there. The boring part is where he said you keep coming back to do daily/weekly challenges..... Whoopy-doo. MEA:MP challenges bored me to death.... especially with the scrooge-like rewards.

Well, they also said that we're going to be coming to come for story parts. Plus, we know they will be uploading more story/character content as time goes.

Huh - big effing spoiler there: apparently we're going to defeat the Dominion. WOW. Confirmed, he said it twice even, you "defeat the Dominion." I wonder if someone is shaking their head over the exec blabbing out a spoiler like that. But there are ever more shockers in this one: 7:00 - Ultimates are tied to your Javelin class and they are "static", meaning, no customization. Did we know that already? That's just like Destiny and will probably lead to the same every class is interchangeable and indistinguishable in combat effect until you see their ultimate. 8:23 - Despite what the first trailer showed, you don't roll the value of your loot until you return to the Fort or your Strider. This is one of the things I hated the most about Destiny, having to return to the hub to roll the RNG and see if you got anything worth a damn.

BTW, I think the terminology of this one is wrong (questioners fault): There will be an option to save Multiple Customization Loadouts. [Source] Didn't Darrah say Personalization was for looks, like paint job, and Customization was for gear loadout? The questioner said Customization, but the details were all cosmetic. Of course, Darrah might have meant yes to both, but I don't think the source is sufficient to confirm that.

“For the critical path … if you do want to play by yourself, you can,” Gamble says. “We’re not limiting that artificially. But the game itself is built for you and a bunch of friends – because your friends are your companions in this case. That’s the whole point.” [ Source] Is it me or dose this come off as being a bit flippant towards those who either prefer to play solo or don't have 'a bunch of friends' to play with? It could be argued that playing solo is the whole point of you don't have 'a bunch of friends' to play with. Bio are damned if they do, damned if they don't with Anthem.

I'm not arguing that as you say they've been pretty good at that. My point was that some of us who might want to buy/enjoy Anthem won't have 'a bunch of friends' to play with. They're trying to appeal to two groups of players from what I can tell. You've got the story/solo crowd covered with Fort Tarsis and the Strider (in theory) You've got the the MP crowd covered with the combat/loot drops (in theory) Something's going to have to give eventually....

Bioware's messaging has been pretty consistent in saying the single player experience is "very important" to Bioware with regards to Anthem. It's only recently we've discovered that ... it's not really.

Here's a thought: If they claim that at the endgame, the world is unfinished (so they can hold weekly events and change the world as they please) how easy/difficult will it be to have a satisfying ending for each player? I.e. I realise that impact is only reflected in fort tarsis, but - if going for a meaningful story - wouldn't impactful story events sort of break the immersion between the 2 worlds of tarsis and the outside world? Well, it depends what ''satisfying ending' means for you. Do you mean saving the whole world somehow? Do you mean taking control over creation process? Do you mean gods returning? If you mean that, then probably not - they have to keep the ball rolling story-wise. Or perhaps do you mean saving Ford Tarsis? Pushing out Dominion? Or uncovering at least some big secrets of the ancient technology left behind or reasons why the world was left unfinished? I mean nothing specific per se. I just mean: satisfying. Whether the story is personal about overcoming angst or about saving the whole universe, I don't really care. As long as it's brought well, smart, and the game reflects your effort.
I just fear that if: 1) we need to keep coming back for story parts, the main game will leave us unfulfilled 2) the discrepancy in game design between fort tarsis (solo) and the world (multi) may be too big of a barrier to draw the player fully into the story.
But hey, these are just confabulations, maybe they found a way to make it work.

It shouldn't be surprising at all that Bioware tries to discourage solo play. It's going to be light on story. They are going for the (to them) dumb as bricks easy to cheat out of their money lootbox addicted multiplayer crowd.
They lost my respect right there. At least PRETEND that you're trying to do something new and refreshing, for christ's sake!
Bioware would face a lot of backlash if they sold Anthem as fun for solo players. It probably won't be and they want to make sure people get that but without completely letting go of their old RPG fans because they want to have their cake and eat it too. So they weakly assure us that there will still be something in the game for everyone.
Yeah no, "not really" is what they've been saying all along. This is a MP game, so if you want to be a stubborn child about it, you can play solo but don't expect it to be much fun.
I advise anybody who was considering Anthem on the weak basis that it MIGHT still be fun solo to MOVE ON.
Seriously, nothing to see here for RPG fans.

The more I keep hearing the more my wallet is going to stay firmly closed and anyway the NZ$120.00 I would have spent can go towards a new loco for my layout. I'd get more use out of it too!

And that right there is my issue with the game. Is there really a downside between playing with 3 AI NPCs that do dumb stuff, and playing with 3 people you don't need to talk to that do dumb stuff. What's the qualitative difference (the sticking point) between: 3 AI characters and 3 rando (real) characters? I'm wondering if the concern is largely a mixture of sticking to tradition and multiplayer lack of experience?

What's the qualitative difference (the sticking point) between: 3 AI characters and 3 rando (real) characters? I'm wondering if the concern is largely a mixture of sticking to tradition and multiplayer lack of experience? True, there is no difference during gameplay when assisted by randos or AI.
However, when there IS a difference if the randos' play affects mine, by sucking, not joining the group or whatever. E.g. if you have AI, you can program to support you, have a healer, a DPS, a tank... roles which you don't play to support you. You can also program them thusly that they don't die and make you fail your mission. You can't control randos. You can't make them choose a supporting class. And if the mission fails because of that...
I dotn PERSONALLY have a problem with randos that don't speak, on the contrary, for example on monster hunter world I loved that. But I see how OTHER PEOPLE could have issues with it. To use MHW again as example: people who disliked randos COULD solo everything. That won't be possible in anthem...

Also no character moments or banter. In Bioware games the journey's made more meaningful with little character moments. Conversations with randos is rarely meaningful and if you travel in silence you may as well just travel with a squad you control or alone.
I never got the appeal with playing with randos. Friends? Sure. But randos, what's the point? I dunno.

I mean, if your whole crew hears the same banter, you could all laugh together and share that moment. Even if with randos, it might be nice to know that others have that same comical/sad moment going on at the same time. Maybe.

Can we have a sub-title on Micro-Transaction types?
Examples:
-Vanity items -Vanity items that will wear down and must be replaced (if any) -Personal Storage chests that can be expanded
Also, how about In-Game Currency and how that works?
Just a thought.

I think there will be banter from the crew of the Strider over radio. If done correctly,t hat COULD work out well. I mean, if your whole crew hears the same banter, you could all laugh together and share that moment. Even if with randos, it might be nice to know that others have that same comical/sad moment going on at the same time. Maybe. While leveling up with some some friends in The Division, there were lines of dialogue between NPCs over the radio that had us all cracking up. Hell, we failed the final mission the first time we tried it because of one of those moments. Lyle was laughing so hard he got his ass shot off, and I got wasted trying to rez his silly ass
