What's the point of choosing mercenary companies if I cannot join them and become a mercenary during gameplay? That could have been an interesting alternative to joining Cerberus.

I'd be awkward and join Archangel's squad. So would I but for me out of the gangs I'd say eclipse. Mostly because I love the tech and biotic firepower they have. Even if they were using their abilities to get up to no good

Blue Suns! Not just because blue is my favorite color, but their armor is cool as shit. They're also the most professionally trained group and with quite the amount of success. By ME3, they're the only ones that still resemble their ME2 incarnations and run by an alpha dog. Most of the krogan in Blood Pack abandoned it for Clan Urdnot or were introduced to Shepard's boot on the way to hell and the Eclipse mercs' leader was stupid enough to be captured by C-Sec LOL. Should she be killed, the group is run by a weak minded, weak willed, Salarian lap dog that gets intimidated by Shepard into taking over. The Talons lost their strong and independent leaders because they got bodied by a reaper controlled cyborg and power fell to a goodie two shoes freedom fighter who's scared of reapers and was stupid enough to kills herself (or maybe smart) because she's such a terrible fighter. Vosque didn't care about reapers nor was he afraid of them, AND he managed to learn how to be a badass from Massani's School of Rage and Manliness. All he cared about at the end of the day was getting a slice of T'Loak pie. What a guy. As for the Andromeda gangs, the females in Blue Suns like Jedore have more ballsack than the lot of those jamokes combined. She killed a krogan Warlord! WITH POINSONOUS GAS! OMFGWTFBBQ SHE'STOOBROKENCAUSESHEBROKELORE. Damn, Blue Suns... helluva group. FOR MOST BADASS RESULTS PLAY BOTH AT THE SAME TIME

Blood Pack. I like the name I was thinking the same thing.

I picked the Blue Suns if only because they are involved in a lot of varied operations around the galaxy, usually involving betraying their client to steal from them. They're a very effective criminal organization that even has organized recruitment in the Terminus. Eclipse is interesting too, but they get less screen time. Their role in the Anhur Rebellions seems like a cool bit of lore.

I'm surprised to see the Blue Suns winning, since for my money they seem to be the dim bulbs of the merc world.
Why start shooting at Shepard's squad as soon as they enter the plague zone? They can't honestly think that any human they see is there to spread the plague, especially since there are human members of the Blue Suns. Harassing Mordin was also not just ill-fated but a heavily questionable use of their time considering that they're under attack from the Blood Pack. If anything, it seems like they'd have benefited by just leaving Shepard and Mordin alone, since it sounds like the slums had been a stable piece of territory for them before the plague started.
In Zaeed's loyalty mission, Shepard's squad don't even have their weapons drawn when they first meet Vido at the gate, and yet Vido just stands there insulting Zaeed instead of opening fire on them. Not that I'm advocating shooting people who aren't posing an immediate threat, mind you, but it seems unlikely that Vido spares them out of the kindness of his heart, given that just minutes prior, we hear him threatening to kill his *own* people if they retreat.
In the same mission, in the large room at the end where they send out pyros and the flame-throwing fuel tanks are moving around, the Suns will just walk right into the columns of fire as if they don't notice them.
How was Warden Kuril's plan even supposed to work? For one thing, the Normandy is still docked, which means that the rest of the crew would have likely mounted a rescue mission if Shepard's squad hadn't escaped. And even if he had successfully sold them, what makes him think they would have obeyed their new "owner"? Unlike the prisoners who would have nowhere else to go if they were sold (except back to prison), Shepard's crew have other options. Even if you think they are essentially outlaws, Kuril should know that they could still go back to Cerberus or the Normandy.
While Vido is unexpectedly patient at first, Harkin is the opposite - how can somebody as versed in the criminal underworld as he is think it's a good idea to try to kill a Spectre and Archangel just for showing up at his door when they haven't even said why they're there? (Maybe this is more Harkin being dumb than the Suns, though I have to wonder if they really care enough about protecting his operation to keep throwing themselves out there.)
Maybe it's just a coincidence that the Suns were used for the majority of the parts where Bioware happened to have the weakest rationale for the obligatory combat, and it's not like they're the *only* ones who do this (why did Aresh bring the Blood Pack with him to Teltin, for example?). But it does seem like whenever a merc group is doing something stupid, there's a pretty good chance that it's the Blue Suns. The one mention of them in ME3, where they're raiding armament shipments, also seems like a spectacularly wrong-headed thing to do in the middle of a war that they themselves would presumably like to survive.

Gotta give my vote to the Talons. They're more interesting for having a grey area in morality when led by Nyreen.
And that their symbol looks like a callback to Marvel's Crimson Dawn tattoo.

I chose Other in the poll. I want to submit the Shadow Broker's dudes, based on who we've met so far. That would be (in order of appearance) Barla Von, Wrex, Feron, Tazzik, Tela Vasir, Nyxeris and Tela Vasir. I mean, come on, the other groups can pack it up after that list. If they don't count as a group, I think I'd go with the Talons, just because I liked Nyreen.
