dazk, I don't like the Achilles chest, as it looks really silly and artificial. The rest of the set, though, isn't too bad. I like how the gold gilding has worn off almost completely. It gives it more character. The best thing they did for this game was add the cosmetic transmog. I am a player who gets pulled into or out of games by good or silly cosmetics. This feature is so good that I think nearly every RPG maker will now be asked to include it. I hope it's part of the next game. I do not want to go viking in poorly realized maille or tacky furs. 😆 I'm about to resume play for today. I love Kassandra, and considered continuing with her; but I'm glad I switched to Alexios. He's still my favorite. His facial expressions and humor are so entertaining. Kassandra largely speaks and acts how I would, low-key and occassionally snarky. Alexios is passionate more often, and he makes me laugh. I also get better immersed into his story. Kassandra is a much better Deimos, too. Alexios as Deimos is just barely controlled rage. He seems irredeemable. Kassandra is angry, too; but she plays "unhinged" very well. While saving her might be bad for Greeks everywhere (whom she's likely to throttle), she does at least seem more redeemable.

Every other game ever created so needs to implement the cosmetic transmog thing, everything I have played since has annoyed me that I can't do it.

I've come to an arrangement with my needy little dog. We hang out and play until he's tired and wanting to nap. While he naps, I play a couple of hours of Odyssey. So far, it's a good compromise. 😆
I think I last posted in Malis. I can't even recall whether that was where I started this morning, or the day before. Anyway, Alexios has now adventured across Kephallonia; Megara; Phokis; Malis; Lokris; Boeotea; Euboea and Skyros; and Andros. Finally, he made quiet landfall in Attika, east of Athens, this evening.
There are a lot of small adventures in that huge pile. One of the bigger stories was helping Eppi solve the Mykenaean mystery. Sadly, much to his dismay, he was unable to see the light show. Bigger still was helping Agapios and his master rid Euboea and Skyros of the Kingfisher and The Dagger. I like that quest line. The islands are pretty, the quests fun, and Agapios likeable.
Alexios has killed 11 cultists so far. That's nearly a quarter of their number, and he hasn't yet reached Athens. Those idiots really f-ed up when they roused him from Kephallonia.
I dropped Steropes while on Andros. (I do now vaguely recall posting about Andros yesterday.) I think it's the first time I've fought him on Nightmare. (I switched to Nightmare early in my last PT, which would've been around February, I think.) Anyway, he went down so easily. I think it must have been my headshot damage multiplier, plus the 100% crit chance, plus the +30% damage while full health, etc... I tend to feel that my all-rounder Assassin build (my primary) is better optimized; but I guess my Hunter kit is pretty damn good, too. I switch to archery when fighting most monsters. The Cyclops and the Minotaur are easier for me in melee, due to the tight spaces.
Alexios also hit Tier 1 of the merc hierarchy, today. Killing leaders and using that 3+ bounty to draw in mercs makes a rapid ascent easy. I had a couple of hours in which I seemed to get all of the mercs with legendary items consecutively. I thought I'd stall at tier 2 for a while, as the tier 1 merc and her flaming hammer were in far off Pephka, fighting in the Arena. No sooner had I considered that situation than I saw a silly leader sitting alone in Eritrea's market. Killing him provoked a bounty, of course. Halkyone the Smoldering arrived immediately. Only after murderizing and looting her invisible corpse (thanks RA+Death Shroud or whatnot) did I realize it had been her. The "S" tiers have appeared, and hopefully I'll soon start running across those chumps.

Alexios finally made it to Attika, yesterday. He's thoroughly explored Athens, looting and the like. He did work for both Perikles and Kleon, and got some leads on his mother's location at Perikles' symposium.
Now, many side quests beckon in rest of Attika. There are hidden cultists to kill (12 dead so far). There is work on offer from his new friends, Sokrates and Alkibiades.
Mercs continue to take bounties on Alexios, and they continue to die. He's at the top of S2, if I recall correctly.
My Eagles (NFL) are on a bye week, so I should get some good playtime today.

Almost there. The two kids from Kephalonia are going to be the best Mercs in all of Greece.
And yes, he is still looking for me. Had a bit of killing spree for the weekly.

It's hilarious to see Talos riding Kassandra's coattails to the top. 😆 I had never once thought to do that.
My Alexios today finished up all of his business in Attika and headed out to pursue leads on his mother's location. Adrestia's odd position off of Attika's east coast meant that we tackled Keos first. That completed, and cultist #15 killed, we headed for Korinthia. I saved after disembarking and killing another eager bounty hunter. It took a lot longer to do all of that than to type it. I made it sound like such short work.
On the merc front, Alexios is in S4 with three mercs ahead of him. Their identities are unknown, but I'm sure they'll come to us. Until he's King of the Mountain, Alexios will continue to happily carry whatever bounty might be placed upon him.
I subdue and recruit every "gold tier" merc (and leader or commander) that I find, and my crew is full of S-tier mercs. I have a really nice spread of perks, meaning my crew could support many different combat styles.
I've finally started boarding ships, again; generally just to get a quick reprieve when engaging multiple vessels. My wife and MiL were in the room as I engaged a large Athenian contingent, earlier. They rarely notice my gaming, but they sort of got into it. They got a good show, with fire, cleaving, and dramatic boardings under hails of arrows. Ring of Chaos remains my favorite shipboard skill. Of course, it's always a show-stopper, land or sea. I love the disbelief it inspires in all who see it.
I look forward to Korinthia and Argolis, tomorrow. I'll start doing the LToG, too. "Athena's" test of wisdom will likely be up first. We'll see. If I mix them in with my main progress, I guess it would prevent some backtracking. It would also offer a slightly different flow from previous PTs. I think I'll do that, taking on those LToG quests just like any other jobs/quests, completing them as it's convenient.

It's hilarious to see Talos riding Kassandra's coattails to the top. 😆 I had never once thought to do that. At some points Talos was 3-4 Mercs ahead of Kass, even though they started side by side at Kephalonia. No idea how that happens, maybe the game randomly moves Mercs around when they are in front of the Eagle Bearer.

I've played a bit more, today, and will likely play further. The LToG really add a lot content. I completed "A Test of Wisdom" and "A Brother's Seduction", along with the rest of eastern Korinthia and the northern edge of Argolis. I saved on the southern wall of Korinth, overlooking the Porneion and the Leader's House.
Alexios just attained Mastery Level 68, I think. There are still tons of enhancements that I'd consider worthy of further investment. On the one hand, the game simply can't cope with a Level 99 (167?) Protagonist. On the other hand, it's easy enough to de-optimize gear loadouts, if desired. I figure that all of these crazy boosts just free up gear slots for other, less frequently used engravings.

I got to play a bit more. I completed Korinthia. The Monger arc isn't particularly lengthy. It's well done and pretty concise, making it easy to knock out relatively swiftly.
I rode south into Argolis, visiting the coastal village and the Heraion complex before riding into Argos. I headed straight for the center of town and killed the cultist Midas. He brings the headcount to 17, I believe. After mopping up the bounty hunters who came rushing in, I saved for the evening. I'll knock out Argolis tomorrow. Then, I will have to decide whether to explore the Peloponnese any further, or to save it for later and head out to sea.
I've been investing in the +X% Damage while at Full Health. That's an engraving I have often used, but dropped in favor of the Atlantis "50% of +Assassin Damage = +All Damage". Since I'm almost always at full health, it's a great perk. I can now knock out even the toughest mercs with a single non-lethal tap. It makes recruiting even easier.
Sailing in these games is always so satisfying to me, even if the Mediterranean is a bit too rough for my liking. They really missed an obvious opportunity in never giving us a Kerberos figurehead. There are multiple sails featuring Kerberos. It just seemed like such an obvious thing to include. Oh, well. I've been using a variety of combos. At present, I'm using the Tyrrhenian sail with the Poseidon figurehead. That figurehead is pretty badass and works well with a number of sails.
Alexios is still rocking basic Spartan cuirasse, vambraces and heavy greaves in black iron. I even ditched the Dikastes helmet for one of the most basic Korinthian styles, also in black iron. The stuff just looks tough, worn and functional. I like the pits and rust; they make it look convincing. Toss in the "brown horse" Phobos and the Pessesh en Gerrehh bow and you have a misthios who's more about function than flash.

I've been feeling too crummy to post, but I've still been playing Oddysey. I think I'm just over 60hrs into this PT.
Alexios has visited every island in the game, excepting the Petrified Islands (Chios and Lesbos). I'm saving those for the next time I get the urge to head out to sea. I'm currently in Arkadia. I like to have the country mostly explored before the story takes me there. I suspect that exploring with a perpetual lv3 bounty would become tedious. I'll likely visit Achaia as well before getting the urge to head back to sea.
Makedonia is pretty pointless in this game. I'm almost tempted to ignore it entirely this PT. If I visit it, it will be to clean it up before the end game with Deimos, Brasidas and Kleon. By that time, I'm ready to just get in and get out, chugging toward the finishline.
I'll definitely be skipping LotFB, as it's both forced and boring. I will get to play the full Fate of Atlantis arc in one go, rather that many, many months apart. I think I'll enjoy them more this time. I'll even take the time to solve the ostraka puzzles this time.
Ooh, I just remembered some of the longer LToG that I've yet to tackle. I'll save Barnabas' and Sokrates' stories until near the end, as they both felt like stories shared with long-time companions. I can't even recall the exact circumstances of Herodotos' departure, but I feel like I recall him heading for Argos. I'll maybe save his final adventure, too.
Anyway, metagame planning aside, I'm still enjoying the game a year later. Granted, I took a long break from it; but I'd played the hell out of it prior to that. I feel like I'm making faster progress through the game in this PT than any prior. We'll see. I usually do make swift, efficient progress and then dawdle away dozens of hours in post-game. There will be none of that this time, with TFoA waiting. I'm curious to see what my total playtime will be.

I skipped LoTFB last time didn't feel like I missed anything!!!!!

dazk, no legendary animals in Makedonia. Mostly there are just trees, rocks and streams. One of the Persians of the Order had a lion that you can kill. It's a weak lion, though, nothing like a legendary. I always one-shot it with a Ghost Arrow. On the topic, I was killing "Ancients" in Messenia. They're already present even early in the game. They sometimes squabble with other factions, too. I've been playing the crap out of Odyssey, still. Alexios has explored the entire map, now, and is currently participating in the Olympics. Alas, poor Testikles. I loved that dolt. My wife never watches me game. She spent a few minutes watching Alexios, earlier, and was entertained. His facial expressions and body acting are tremendous. As I advance through a PT, I'm always reminded why he's my preferred protagonist. Melissanthi was awesome, almost perfect, really; and I could listen to her voice all day. Michael, though, is just so damn entertaining as Alexios. He brings so much variety to the role. Comedy. Anger. Eyerolls and facepalms (his, not mine). He's great. I always feel like I've hit the home stretch once I finish the Olympics. It's mostly main storylines from here. I'll skip LotFB, as I said, and head to Atlantis after the main stories. I have a few LToG still to do. I'm definitely skipping "One Really Bad Day", as I felt it was one really bad arc. I definitely will do the tales for Barnabas, Herodotos and Sokrates. I think the only other still lingering is the selfish poet in Boeotia who abandoned her son. We'll see how I feel after arriving in Boeotia. I could skip it and not miss it, to be honest. Alexios still needs to turn in all of his pelts to Daphnae. He needs head to Atlantis with the four keys and close up shop. I have a million seals to turn in to Demosthenes. (That's a quest I complete only because it happens as a matter of course.) I'll likely not run errand missions for Xenia, since they always felt tacked on and meh. I'm not that desperate for gameplay with Atantis awaiting. I've been rocking my new favorite look for a long time, now. It's the Champions Helmet (coppery Achilles helm); Spartan Vambraces (copper); Warrior's chest (copper); Dikastes' Belt; and Athenian or Spartan Heavy Greaves (either in copper). This is a good look that lets me use that awesome helmet and breastplate together. I just realized that the "Legendary Spartan Ship design whose name I can't recall" (red sail w/hoplite shield emblem) pairs well with the lion figurehead for a Leonidas theme. Sailing to the Olympics for Sparta, and having just been reminded of g-dad's heroism, I decided to use it for a while. I've been using the Warriors crew. The fact that their armor matches my Alexios' preferred armor is cool. I just noticed the lions on their shields after equipping the above mentioned figurehead and sail. That was kind of cool. The whole crew is honoring the "Son of the Lion", Leonidas. I can't imagine I'll jump into a 6th PT right away, but who knows? Maybe in a month? Anyway, by the time I finish this 5th, the playtime I will have gotten out of a year with Odyssey will be pretty staggering. I've played only the MET more heavily. I should be past 800 hours by now, with a lot of content left. Pretty crazy. That's a lot of bang for the buck.

Nope. The Nemean Lion IS one of the mythical creatures. It lives in southern Argolis, if I recall correctly. It's huge and leads a pride. Like most creatures, it's best to fill it with as many arrows as possible before it closes.
I'm still chugging along today. The ship cosmetic I mentioned yesterday, the red one with a hoplon and ornate border, is The Tyrant. It's one of the coolest designs, in my opinion. I may start using it more often.
Time to go kill Stentor. The idea of living with him is ridiculous and unbearable. If he didn't have to join the family, I'd not kill him. Accepting Nikolaos back is likewise ridiculous, but there's no way to kill him aside from cold-blooded vengeance. Oh, well. My misthios has no intention of retiring to Sparta, anyway. That's Myrrine's thing, not Alexios'.

I finished Odyssey's main stories last night. It's always sad to see Alexios die after so much time together. Imagine what he's seen and knows by then. It still annoys me that Layla is "the chosen one who will bring balance". Ugh.
We saw Herodotos home to Samos, and solved a very simple mystery. (The audio is still badly bugged on PS4. The opening conversation between brothers is still inaudible.) Stalling Persia was a big deal, I guess. Afterward, we took him to Athens and parted ways for now.
Next up will be Barnabas' big quest, starting on Skyros. I know there were minor elements I missed the first time, as well as bugs. I hope to get a better experience this time.
Once Barnabas' business is handled, it will be time for "Fate of Atlantis".
I checked my playtime for the game, and it was up to 847hrs 11min, I think. That was a day ago. I suspect it will top out over 900 hours by the end of this PT.

That ended well for everyone in "Revenge of the Sith" She's already started that way, considering she's already murdered her friend. This better have repercussions, since there is the email that says if Victoria dies Layla is out of a job.

It still annoys me that Layla is "the chosen one who will bring balance". Ugh. That ended well for everyone in "Revenge of the Sith" Maybe balance will be restored when the writers throw Layla down a deep, deep hole? Yesterday, I finished Elysium. It was more enjoyable than the first time I played it. I didn't very my choices too much. Ultimately, necessary story bottlenecks render that a moot point. It was fun running about in white and gold demigod panoply (golden Protype Crown; Asphodel Armor & matching waist; golden Spartan vambraces and heavy greaves). I saved last night shortly after arriving in Hades. I switched my armor and mount to match the setting. I'm using the black w/red light Isu set (the one that corresponds to the Asphodel set. Is it the Isu Warden stuff?) Phobos transformed from a Pegasos to the lava horse. I just formed a working partnership with Elpenor; and also found the first clues leading to Phoibe, but not her identity.

I finished Hades earlier this evening. I asked more questions and encouraged "Brasidas" to accept responsibility this time. The result was definitely more fulfilling.
I saved Phoibe's quest for last. I liked her in the main game, but this quest line was just really sweet. It makes me like her all the more. She's probably the coolest kid I've ever interacted with in a VG. I'm trying to recall any other cool ones.
I have started Atlantis, but didn't progress far before bedtime. My PT is up over 110 hours, now. What a huge game this is. It never drags for me (excepting the understandable burnout I caused myseld). The story always feels like it's moving forward. I don't like LotFB, and some of the LToG were pretty bleh, but it's otherwise a really well made experience. I'm glad I decided to jump back into it once more. I'll set it aside again after this PT. No need to provoke a second burnout. My total PT is approaching 860 hours across 5 PTs.

I had left the game for a while just at the beginning of the Delos/Mykonos story line. Now I did a full run of it, romancing Kass with Thaletas in order to see how it changes things. I was surprised that this romance is given as much attention as the Kyra one. I must say that Kyra went under Kass's spell much quicker than Thaletas The two islands look amazing, it's fun to run, climb and take in the views just about everywhere. The whole plot with it's multiple choices and consequences is really well done. I think Delos/Mykonos along with Pephka should be the benchmark in how story and areas are to be made in future AC games.
And Kyra sounded ok that Kass hooked up with Thaletas to "teach him a thing or two", but when asked if Thaletas is with her now, Kyra confirmed it with a rather aggressive voice At least she doesn't duel to the death for it.
Thaletas: "I lost my helmet". Kass: "You mean this helmet?" Kyra: "We need to raid the supplies on the other island" Kass: "Ahem, been there, done that..." Kyra: "Ok, then we have to rob the treasury..." Kass: "Oh, about that...here, don't spend it all in one place." Kyra: "How did you do it all already?" Kass: "I was passing through..." (or something to that extent)
Wish Kass had the reply "Goddess" as in "Goddess of exploration, highway robbery and random acts of arson, murder and jaywalking."

Is that how Kyra responded when Kass did all the stuff she wanted done? Or are you just making it up (humour) because I raided the treasury in a few PTs before Kyra asks for it, I still have to do it again. I finally gave up and never do the raid first.

The helmet and supplies are acknowledged, but I think for the treasury you still need to get at the Fort for Kyra to be in the correct spot. It was pretty much "Hey, I brought you here to see the big fort I just robbed for you. Wanna see me do it again?"

Unfortunately poor Thaletas doesn't get a look in for me, Kyra is my favourite romance NPC in the game and one of the better ones of many games I have played. I thought about pre-completing those quests but was always too paranoid it'd stuff progression up!!!!!

I hated those two romances. They wouldn’t take no for an answer and eventually your character acted really interested in them despite avoiding those choices like the plague.
