This update includes fixes and changes, like the update listed below: outerworlds.obsidian.net/en/news/outerworlds/the-outer-worlds-patch-1-5-0-release-notesGreetings fellow spacers, We have released Patch 1.5.0 for players playing on PC, Xbox consoles, and PlayStation consoles and you should see this the next time you launch The Outer Worlds. This patch is required in order to fix specific issues and apply any changes included. Necessary files to The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanos have been added. Murder on Eridanos will release on March 17th! Changes/fixes that are included in this patch are as follows: General:-Save files from beyond the "point of no return" will now allow players to access the "Peril on Gorgon" and "Murder on Eridanos" DLCs. After installing a new DLC, attempting to load a save file at the end of the game will give an option to instead place the player onboard the Unreliable, with access to the rest of the Halcyon system restored. -Fixed an issue where Nyoka's face animations could stop updating during conversations. -Updated the description of the "Robophobia" Flaw to be more accurate. -The frame rate cap has been removed on PS5 and Series X (not Series S). Saves from beyond the "point of no return" will now allow players to access the "Peril on Gorgon" and "Murder on Eridanos" DLCs. Loading a save file at the end of the game will give an option to instead place the player onboard the Unreliable, with access to the rest of Halcyon.

The Board cordially demands that you immediately sit back, relax, and enjoy the launch trailer for The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanos (enjoyment is mandatory). Murder on Eridanos is out now for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. This is the second narrative expansion to the critically acclaimed and award-winning sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division.
Venture to the skies of Eridanos and unravel the grandest murder mystery in the Halcyon colony! Everyone is a suspect in this peculiar whodunit after Rizzo’s hired spokesperson, the famous Halcyon Helen, winds up dead ahead of the release of the brand-new Spectrum Brown Vodka. Alongside your companions, travel across the floating islands of Eridanos and piece together clues using the Discrepancy Amplifier, a new gadget that highlights otherwise unseen hints. There’s more to this mystery than meets the eye, and it’s up to you (and your crew, if you choose) to solve the case.
Key Features:
• Murder mystery: Suspicions abound, and it’s up to you to get to the bottom of the murder of Halcyon Helen, the most well-known celebrity in the colony. Use the new Discrepancy Amplifier, your key to solving the case, as it highlights temporal inconsistencies not otherwise seen with the naked eye.
• A unique world: Travel among the floating islands of Eridanos, from the luxurious confines of the Grand Colonial Hotel to Rizzo’s colorful groves. But be careful about the smiling employees you encounter, as there’s something dark lingering under the bright and cheerful surface.
• New weapons and character customization: Three new science weapons can be added to the player’s arsenal alongside weapon and armor variants to use while solving the case. And increase your level cap by three and employ new perks and flaws to create your most unique character yet.
The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanos is the second and final story expansion that can be purchased individually or bundled at a discount in The Outer Worlds Expansion Pass. A copy of The Outer Worlds on the same platform is required to play expansion(s).

I bought the base game and after 4 planets (including Groundbreaker) it's a 5/10 experience. There are good moments, bits of funny or interesting dialogue, Vicar is a pretty interesting companion with a decent storyline, but basic gameplay is pretty dull. The amount of useless loot is overwhelming, combat is very repetitive (I think I've seen every type of enemy the game has within first hour of playing), the "world" becomes more interesting after Emerald Vale, but never to a point I could actually immerse in it and the story doesn't do it for me either. All of that doesn't help, but the thing that irritates me the most are loading screens, or rather the quest structure that forces me to jump from planet to planet to finish a questline. In worst cases it goes like this:
- use quick travel to the ship (loading screen) - go to planet 1 - use quick travel to some place on planet 1 (loading screen) - find an NPC for 1-2 minute dialogue - QT to the ship (loading screen) - go to planet 2 - use quick travel to some place on planet 2 (loading screen) - travel 200 meters to pick up some object - QT to the ship (loading screen)
etc.

The Outer Worlds @outerworldsEmployees of Halcyon, we are aware of an issue where some Xbox players are having trouble saving their gameplay and causing it to crash. If you’re experiencing this, please send in a ticket to pvtdi.vision/support with detailed information and our support team will assist you.

Got an email from GoG, apparently this is 67% off at the moment.
I understand it is FPP locked, which I don’t like, but was able to get over for Deus Ex, KCD and Cyberpunk. Story? Combat? Worthwhile, or just ‘ok’?

Worthwhile, or just ‘ok’? I would say that combat is ok - nothing special, but it's fun enough for an RPG. I found this game's story and characters to be really dull, unfortunately. You pretty much know how the thing will end from the start, everything is exactly how it seems (good characters and organisations are good, bad one are comically bad, there's no nuance whatsoever), you've seen it all and you're pretty much guaranteed to never be surprised. IMO it's nowhere near DE, KCD or Cyberpunk, or even Bethesda Fallout's.

I don't need every story and character to be 'the best thing evurr', but one thing that really grates is a mustache twirler of a villain(s).

I wouldn't say its that bad, but the setting is pretty grim, and the characters and factions are shaped by that. Though I haven't played since launch so the memory might be a little fuzzy. Basically I'd ask if you've played Fallout New Vegas, if yes, the Outer Worlds is similar but weaker game with better gunplay, if no, just play Fallout New Vegas. LOL.

I finally finished this game. Had it for quite a while after picking up on sale but had other things to play. Overall I enjoyed it, thinking about getting the expansions but not sure, will have see how much they are these days. The end of the game really has made me realize how lazy and crappy of a gamer I am as I've gotten older. I was not even playing it on a tough level and had to go back and redo some things to get by the boss battle at the end......which was pathetic on my part. In my younger days I would have relished tough boss battles and games like dark souls and ending boss battles but now i just get frustrated if i am not steam rolling thorough in combat.

Overall I enjoyed it, thinking about getting the expansions but not sure, will have see how much they are these days. The murder mystery is really fun, perhaps better than that base game. The other one is just all right. Didn't regret buying both though. It's a fun even if underwhelming game. Looking forward to the sequel that will hopefully be an improved experience.
