I was hoping to play this, but I already removed Fortnite (yes I played it until the epic game store was announced, then I ditched it) and later on all Epic Games stuff from my computers due to all it's shady spyware crap. Not getting that again. And microsoft store *sighs sadly* that thing sucks.. but not as bad as Epic Game Store I guess.

Buy it twelve months later then. At least game will be more stable with a year worth of bugfixes.
Can't say i liked it but i suppose for a smaller developer this deal can be atractive.

Buy it twelve months later then. Nope. Not for me. If they want my money they need to get it at launch. Looks like I just saved $60.

First it was metro exodus and now this, two games I was looking forward to. I guess I won't be touching outer worlds now, not only for the security problems I've heard about with epic games but also because Steam, Origin and GOG are enough for me.
At first I was thinking I would buy them 12 months later but honestly? I don't think that will be the case. Lately if my interest isn't at 100% I just don't seem to care anymore and by that time my desire to purchase will probably be zero.
That's OK, because like decaf mentioned it's just saving me money.

This REALLY blows. Was my most anticipated game this year. *sigh* Starting to really hate the Epic Store's disgusting exclusives war they brought to PC. Fuck Microsoft, fuck Zenimax and espeically fuck Epic for their anti-consumer greed! The Sinking City, another game I was looking for, got bought by China too. See you in 2020, Obsidian. Maybe...

This REALLY blows. Was my most anticipated game this year. *sigh* I almost forgot about The Outer Worlds until the Epic Store exclusive announcement, which is weird considering there was lots of coverage only a few weeks ago. Seems like it stopped being my most anticipated game of the year once Paradox started to tease a Vampire the Masquerade game a month ago via a very well done ARG and everything pointing to a Vtm:Bloodlines-type game. It might not release this year, but I'm hopeful. Official announcement is "tonight". I'm also hopeful it won't be an Epic Store exclusive...

As for today stuff: from Paradox itself. Going by the people invited being told it start at 20:00 PST sharp, that means 1 hours of ARG stuff before the reveal.

I'll be getting OW on MS store because that's already a built-in feature of Win 10. So far it's honestly worked ok for Forza Horizon. Definitely not supporting Epic or installing yet another fucking client.

Yeah, there's no way Epic's getting my financial details, I'm not a gambler and I'm certainly not trusting them with my financial security.
here's what Chris Avellone has to say:
BTW my preferred first "choice" platform for any game is GOG so I'm not some Steam zealot.

Oof, Chris ain't working with Obsidian any time soon I see, too many shots fired at them on the past years I think what pisses off all the most is the fact that all these agreements seem to happen on the very last minute: Metro. Even the retail boxes had a Steam logo they had to put an Epic sticker on to cover. Outer Worlds. Trailers advertise Steam logo, and on interviews they did 2 of the devs specifically said "the game is coming to Xbox, PS, and Steam" . Phoenix Point. People crowd found the game on STEAM and once they got the free money from the people they move shop to Epic. That is absolutely disgusting and someone could argue inclined to be a criminal act. I'm surprise Steam even allows them to do such a thing. That's lying and borderline false advertisement. And Epic here are being the biggest douche bags this industry ever had since EA and Activision thanks to their "last minute deal" way of pissing the consumers off. Sincerely, I hope Epic dies in a fire, this is no way of making business.

Those publishers clearly got a lucrative deal proposal from Epic and went with it at the last minute. For the Other Worlds, Take-2/Private Division, the publisher, signed a multi-games deal with Epics. Same thing with DeepSilver, the publisher of Metro, and Ubisoft. For Phoenix Point, they pretty less or more said that they already made a profit just signing the deal with Epic.

I think The Outer Worlds Epic thing took me by surprise as I really didn't expect it after Microsoft announced they were bringing Halo to Steam. I probably assumed that as Obsidian are now a subsidiary of Microsoft that they would follow suit. I would probably like a bit of clarification on the reasons for this move, who exactly made it?, was it Obsidian or the publisher, was it down to a contractual obligation to the publisher made before the takeover by MS?
It's interesting as Microsoft are making a definite pivot to Steam, and this seems to contradict this.

That's because I'm fairly confident this wasn't Microsoft's idea, it was Take 2's. Halo on Steam proves that MS doesn't care about exclusivity deals with Epic (unless they announce later on that Halo won't be on Steam, yet again...). So that whole shit was Take 2's idea.

I really don't want to wait a year, and I suppose if Microsoft ALREADY has my information, then I'm not giving anything away by using the Microsoft store.
I still think this whole deal is shady, but at least we have options.
