I voted for Inquisitor only or dual protagonists, 50/50 split. To me it would be a better story arc if it is the Inquisitor who helps/redeems Solas rather than some random new pc.

Well, unless it actually ended up as Inquisitor only and a directly continued adventure. Then, I would definitely have to change my canon Inquisitor... How would you have to change your canon Inquisitor? It's not an important reason really. I just have a mild preoccupation with varying my custom characters, and losing a "slot" would reprioritize my class choices. My Inquisitor is currently a triple hybrid, but I still want a mage and warrior tank among my canon, and would feel compelled to choose one of those instead. If I chose mage, my Inquisitor could no longer be a dwarf either. Regardless of what comes, I am sure I will have fun with it.

Assuming the game is even about Solas, which is by no means guaranteed. Many people considered the stories of Hawke and the Warden to be "unfinished", but BioWare moved on regardless.

I feel there was a large hint in the end of the last game as to who the new protag will be. A seeker. What hint? They made a real big deal of rebuilding the seekers and doing it right this time if I recall.

I, for one, supremely doubt they will be ignoring Solas in the new game. You may not find it interesting, but Tresspasser worked really hard to set Solas up as an antagonist and defeating him as the ongoing goal of the Inquisition. With the same people in creative control, I can’t imagine they will simply leave it at that. I would also prefer they wrapped up the Solas plot in DA4, then focused on more down to earth topics going forward for awhile.

Dangling plot threads are, at this point, a defining feature of the franchise. That said, I expect Solas to feature in the game in some capacity, I merely doubt that he will be the major antagonist. My personal preference would be for something else entirely, but what I suspect is more likely is that he will be put down early on by precisely the same ancient evil he plans to unleash.

If you'd phrased the question, "What would like your DA4 protagonist to be?" my answer would have been much simpler.
What would I like my DA4 protagonist to be?
Silent.

I just don't see how it will be nearly as good without the Inquisitor as the protagonist. They made a real big deal of rebuilding the seekers and doing it right this time if I recall. The Seekers are only rebuilt if you encourage Cassandra to rebuild them I believe. So it's not likely that the next game will use that since it's not universal. No, but nobody thought the next game would be about Corypheus, either, and there have been other elements introduced in Inquisition and its DLC that are potentially equally threatening (and to my mind, more interesting than yet another ancient wizard bent on destruction). I would also prefer they wrapped up the Solas plot in DA4, then focused on more down to earth topics going forward for awhile. Not to mention years ago Patrick Weekes said that DA4 would wrap up Solas' story, and the other devs talking about how Inquisition was all Part 1 of a large story they wanted to tell.

They need to finish the Inquisitor’s story first. first of all, they did in trespasser, any involvement the inquisitor might have in the next game will be a different story. trespasser astablishes where the inquisitor stance is in regard to fen'harel, so we don't actually need to control them in order for them to play their part. and it will be more interesting to play someone who was not orginally part of it, but still got caught in the middle. that being said, i do believe the inquisition will have a pessence in the next game, both the ending of trespasser and the comics show that they will likely have agents in tevinter (which is likely where the game will take place). but they will have to be subtle about it. either the inquisition was disbanded which means they can't reveal they are from the inquisition, or it's an army of the andrastian divine, which might not be welcomed in tevinter. with that in mind, the inquisitor's involvement will have to be from behind the scenes (at least at the start), because if the inquisitor will be at the heart of the inquisition operation to unvail the dread wolf's plan, dear old fen'harel might get suspicious and/or alerted. i would also like to remind you that the end of dragon age 2 hinted that the war between mages and templars will be the focus of inquisition, but it ended up being just part of the story, it could be the same here. at the end of the day it's all theoretical, we will find out when the game is out. Trespasser did many things, but one thing it absolutely did not do was finish a story. It took a story that was finished and undid it to set up a new story. Having a new protagonist leaves the character who had an ending until it was undone left undone which is just terrible writing. And I shudder at the thought of them becoming a NPC and their personality based on that one decision of two choices. Considering they are being invaded by the Qun at the moment, Tevinter really has bigger things to worry about than the Inquisition poking around. If anything between that and what Solas is up to Tevinter would welcome the help. It wouldn't be the first time, either with the Chantry or the Inquisition. As for alerting Solas, he'd know no matter how sneaky we are since he already knows we know and possibly even welcomes the challenge. Plus while everyone knows of the Inquisitor, but they don't know the Inquisitor so they'd be able to blend in quite easily. We see this in scenes like in the Winter Palace where even after months of operating in the open many Orlesian nobles don't recognize the Inquisitor.

I'll go with new but would be fine renewing as the Quizzy role. I'm not too keen on the idea of a dual role...mainly because I like to fully immerse myself into a character when I RP and I think a dual role would detract from such.

"Dual Protagonist with New Hero for most of the game, and we play as the Inquisitor for select missions"
This. I want a new protagonist to create, develop and fall in love with. But I want to be able to decide how my Inquisitor handles Solas, especially the one that romanced him.

The Inquisitor has such a personal stake with Solas' overall mission.
My male human mage became one of his best friends (high/max approval) and promised to redeem him. But from a raw story viewpoint, I have to hand it to a female elf who romanced him.
They can't leave that plot point hanging.
Either way, the Inquisitor's missing left forearm would need to be addressed, which I don't think would be too difficult: Warrior: a "grafted" mace or blade Rogue: that mini-crossbow (with Codex entry saying whether it's because of joining Red Jennies or personal crafting) Mage: a wand of sorts, allowing magic to be cast.
Given the nature of RPG's (The Mass Effect Trilogy is a notable exception), I would expect there to be a "new character", but I could be wrong here.
I still think that the Inquisitor should be the main character, since it would allow for more story flow without having to pull stuff from thin air to justify why the player character is the only one able to advance the plot.

People say that because of Solas' involvement the Inquisitor must take centre stage in the next game, but by that logic Hawke should have been the PC in Inquisition because of his involvement with Corypheus and the fact Cassandra was looking for them to become the Inquisitor. Hawke turns up to help, so then why shouldn't the Inquisitor. I understand that because of our relationship with Solas (friend, enemy, frenemy, or lover) that the Inquisitor must confront him, but let's not forget that Solas used the Inquisition perfectly to achieve his goals. Bringing them into the scenario will only give Solas more power, and he has more than enough power.

I voted for new Independent hero as much as I love my previous protagonists, having a new shiny toy is always more fun 'sides, chances are we'll be from Orlais (if the previous trend holds that the protagonist is from the country the last game took place) and we'll have some involvement with the Inquisition one way or another anyway *shrugs* I won't mind if my Quizzy shows up, but Cullen had better appear as well to drag her back by her ear along lines of "we've saved the world enough dear, let the youngsters clean this mess up" though given the fact that my Quizzy despised being called 'Herald' and 'Inquisitor' I suspect she'll just sit back and watch...with snacks

It's not so much Solas' involvement in and of itself being the reason me and others think the Inquisitor return, after all if left at the base game ending then I'd be fine with a new protagonist, but rather the interaction and the consequences of that interaction the two had at the end of Trespasser that is the reason. That's what makes this different than Corypheus and Hawke, since as Hawke and Varric both say Corypheus was dead according to them so they were unaware of his plans just like Inquisitor was before Trespasser. I also disagree that bringing the Inquisition into the scenario will give Solas more power. Granted in some instances it could (that would be an interesting concept to experience) but that swings both ways as it gives his opposition more power.

I chose Inquisitor only because of AWR's voice. If not, it wouldn't bother me if there's a new main character.

It would really kill my mood to have a new character deal with Solas. Likewise, I don't feel the flow of the story will work right if the inquisitor only pops up on one off mission. Sure, give us a new PC, they're always fun but give us the inquisitor to go along with them and not as an NPC!
I've always said that I would be completely satisfied if they modeled it like in the witcher 3 with respect to what they did with Geralt and Ciri. So sign me up for mostly having a new PC but having the inquisitor on a few missions scattered throughout the game.
There is no way I can picture the Inquisitor just sailing off into the sunset with what happened at the end of trespasser, nor Cullen, Cass, Josephine etc. I even remember my inquisitor saying something like "now if you'll excuse me, I have a world to save, again". Wouldn't most try to fight to save the world you're living in, if not for yourself then for your loved ones sake? I feel like doing otherwise would just be giving up, considering what Solas told us.
Granted I'll still play the game if this is not the case but I will be sorely disappointed.

Hawke! Seriously, I think we had one of the best game protagonists ever right there, at least as good as Commander Shepard, Geralt of Rivia or the Avatar, but he/she only gets one game??
If not, I can see dual protagonists possibly working in a Geralt/Ciri kind of way, but I'm not up for playing solely as the Inquisitor again.

Hawke was supposed to be the Inquisitor in their original plans. That’s why they set up the story in DA2, as well as marketing, to have Hawke as a recognizable figure, a legend of story, the most important person in Thedas (by marketing). If DA2 wouldn’t have been so negatively received, the plan would’ve continued. Instead, they changed things up. Hawke can be dead after Inquisition, so they won’t certainly take him back wan protagonist.

I love the Warden, Hawke and the Inquisitor, but I always prefer a new protagonist with each game. I wouldn't be overly opposed to a trilogy similar to Mass Effect, but it wouldn't be my preference... especially if it takes them 7 years to make each game.
