Elementalist #1The Lazy WizardA very basic and simple to play build. You can stand around casting a Firestorm and Barrier every 10 seconds. Use Immolate for additional damage and Winter'S Grasp when needed. When playing on Nightmare or Heartbreaker I suggest using a staff with electricity damage (gladly Hakkon's Wisdom is one ) Can be easily played with Belt of the Inferno Pact. Thanks to the knockdown of firestorm, barrier protection and Death Siphon you are mostly safe. Recommended Gear: Enhanced Firestorm Ring Elementalist #2Infernal ChaosA bit more fun to play imo. Not just standing around watching your firestorm doing the work. I suggest using Flashpoint for Wall of Fire, it has the longest cool down of your spells. Again it is best to use a staff with electricity damage on NM or HB difficulty. Recommended Gear: Enhanced Barrier Ring(assuming you crit all or most of the time a crit damage ring is much better), Belt of the Inferno Pact (be careful: Chaotic Focus will leave you without barrier most of the time) Elementalist #3Fury of the ElementsMaybe a bit experimental but I enjoy it Place Ice Mine to catch as many as possible, during activation delay use one staff attack to trigger Flashpoint and cast Wall of Fire then use Stonefist on the frozen enemies for a Shatter Combo. Repeat and/or follow up with an Energy Barrage. Again, staff blah blah electricity blah blah Makes sense for Energy Barrage, too. Recommended Gear: Enhanced Stonefist Ring, Enhanced Energy Barrage Ring. (If you can handle it or have someone to give you barrier you can use Inferno or Storm Pact Belt, I would suggest Storm because it improves basic attacks as well as Energy Barrage, assuming you use an electricity staff) Elementalist #4The Nimble MagicianNothing special. Just being more mobile with Fade(Frost)step and low cool down spells. Best to use Flashpoint for Winter's Grasp and make a shatter combo with Stornfist. Recommended Gear: Enhanced Stonefist and Winter's Grasp Ring. General Advises:- I suggest not to use the passive "Strength of Spirits" (unless you use Chaotic Focus), it increases the damage your barrier can take but it makes the barrier decay faster, too (because the decay is calculated as percentage of barrier strength) and without "Knight Protector" it is already decaying very fast. - For lower promoted players: Get as much critical hit chance as possible to make good use of the passive Flashpoint.

I love the elementalist.. one of my favorite characters due to the variety of attacks and elemental damages. Recently I have been playing a version of the Infernal Chaos build I guess. View Skill TreeI exchange the fire wall for keeping an upgrade Winter's Grasp. It is nice to be able to dable in another elements damage and freezing can also be a life saving defensive maneuver. So, I am running barrier, winter's grasp, immolate, and fire mine (and not chaotic focus). I use the infernal pact belt and rings for immolate and winter's grasp, since I have the healing on my hakkon staff. If I know that I will have fairly consistent barrier throughout the match, I swap barrier out for fire wall.

I feel this would help people understand Flashpoint a little better and the little icon that appears on your screen when proc. With 200+ Cunning this is great as triggers every 10 seconds guaranteed. You have to remember two things when playing with 2 (or more) Elementalists in a team 1. You will see each others Flashpoint icon on your screen (your personal Flashpoint may not be ready yet) 2. Your icon may disappear when the other Elementalist uses their ability (you WILL still have Flashpoint as it's only the little icon that's removed from the screen) VERY IMPORTANT: If you have 200+ Cunning you can just count to 10 in your head for the timing as that's what I got used to doing as Elementalists were everywhere when I was doing my 250 completions.

We need to start a Keeper Builds soon, and include Mana Surge's little icon and description as well. One of the most overlooked, and yet powerful, passives. I honestly didn't realize the power of it until I had already completed over 250 missions with the keeper. And I kept complaining that the keeper was mana-starved the whole time. Now.. back to elementalist..

I totally agree Recently I have been playing a version of the Infernal Chaos build I guess. View Skill TreeI exchange the fire wall for keeping an upgrade Winter's Grasp. The whole point of this build was to play a pure fire mage (the entirely brave ones take a fire staff, too ), Barrier just to make use of Chaotic focus and no need for four offensive abilities imo.

Yeah, that is the nice thing about the Elementalist as well.. lots of different builds. I used Barrier to keep me alive and provide support for others. I don't necessarily want (nor really need the offensive boost I think) Chaotic Focus depleting my barrier at an inopportune time. My build is more defensive I guess. Winter's Grasp can freeze them before they get to you, Fire Mine under you is a nice defense, and static charge passive is another good defensive skill. In NM, restricting oneself to fire would be pretty difficult, but I did try running with the Staff of the Dragon (fire) for a while, until I got the Hakkon.

I use barrier most of the time to help teammates, usually.....usually... don't need it to keep me alive as frost step is great for that. I still think Winters grasp is one of the very top abilities in the whole game. Will always take it for my Ele and Necro.

The only good thing about the elementalist around Thanksgiving. He turn your screen into one of those virtual fireplace. If 3y3vr3 will bring her lego with the ham you could have a feast.

We need to start a Keeper Builds soon, and include Mana Surge's little icon and description as well. One of the most overlooked, and yet powerful, passives. Mana surge OP. It's what makes keeper's barrier the best among all support mages. It's combo friendly, great CC and life saving in times of need. I always try to get mana surge as soon as possible when leveling up, sometimes even before guardian spirit. The only good thing about the elementalist around Thanksgiving. He turn your screen into one of those virtual fireplace. If 3y3vr3 will bring her lego with the ham you could have a feast. My Ham wielding lego prefers the company of AW and Zither! AW is the only one who cares to ask about the ham when others ignore it. And Zither!'s magical song can turn it into rainbow ham. Back to elementalist...I currently enjoy the "Infernal Chaos" build as it's powerful and also provides good support to the team. It's definitely not a solo build in NM/HB though. Always love to see enemies launching high into air when they step on my fire mines.(It's best when frozen cuz they'll stay in mid air for a while ) Wall of fire is also a decent CC with DOT especially for foes immune to frozen, like despair and pride demons, red templar knights. I use infernal pact belt, hakkon staff(with HOK), enhanced immolate ring and 20% critical bonus damage ring(for basic attack when needed). Ele with infernal pact belt is devastating, but I only put the belt on when I unlock barrier, which is usually around level 15. I can take barrier at a much lower level of course but still I prefer having fire mines, wall of fire and passives like death siphon first. As a result I don't get to play many matches before promoting then have to switch back to health belt again. He's not like AW who can wear pact belt at any level higher than 1. It's a build of great fun nevertheless, just find it a bit inconvenient in my case.

Why would I take Pact belt just for Immolate? I can kill almost all enemies with just one Shatter Combo. I almost don't use Firestorm in other zones except final one, even there I rarely use it.

Yeah, I quit using Firestorm a while ago.. it is just easier and I like more direct damage. Also, I don't have to worry so much about saving the Flashpoint for one long timeout spell. I guess I will give it a try without the pact belt for kicks, although I guess it also benefits my fire mine. But, dropping fire mine and adding stone fist would be worth a try. You know, you just get into these ruts where you have a build you are comfortable with and stop changing.. :: chuckle ::

Take off the pact belt! It doesn't help that much as WP increases. When it takes 9 to 10 hits to kill an enemy, the pact belt helps a lot by reducing it to 2 or 3 hits. When it take 2 to 3 hits to kill one, it is not really worth the HP lost to reduce it to 1 to 2 hits. Now if you are AW then it doesn't cost you anything. I think any other mages with enough promotions are only using the pact belt for thrills.
