It does move on its own, as you change position in the room. I've never had to press the button to get it to move (the button is how you get the hidden treasure) though if it's following the Veil Fire torch I still consider that to be following me, and still creepy as hell. Once the statue is facing the wall and its eyes are lit, the tiles raise up so you can get close to the mural and read about what was buried there.
It's just doing what Solas does, then! If you have him in your party out in the world, he is always watching the Inquisitor.

It's just doing what Solas does, then! If you have him in your party out in the world, he is always watching the Inquisitor. I know this is meant to be a joke but what if that is the purpose of the statue? It allows Solas to watch anyone who enters the room and the eyes light up to warn him, wherever he may be, that he needs to check it out. Think about it, if Dagna could adjust/mend the crystal that we find so we can see what Calpernia is doing, then surely similar technology is available to Solas. In fact, he would probably say that any expertise that was responsible for the creation of that viewing crystal, was originally that of the elves; it came from Tevinter after all.

LGBTQ+ GAMERS ON THE NEED FOR PROPER REPRESENTATION IN TODAY’S GAMING WORLDhypebae.com/2020/8/lgbtq-representation-in-video-games-gaming-diversity-inclusivity-ea-the-sims-bioware-dragon-age-veronica-nikatine-ripley-interviewPatrick Weekes @patrickweekesThis was an interesting interview, and some really wonderful company to be included in. Addendum: I clarified that I wasn’t a lead on Dragon Age: Inquisition, but it looks like because I’m lead writer now, they listed me as lead then. The lead writer on DAI was @davidgaider, and I was honored to be one of his minions. David Gaider @davidgaiderIt’s hard to explain to non-industry people how work is divided on big teams. They often think “x person wrote it”, as in the *entire thing*, so a lead often gets credited way too much. You were an excellent minion, btw.

LukeBarrett I was curious: How soon in development of a game is a protagonist determined. My main worry is whether or not the Inquisitor will return as the protagonist (hoping they are returning) so I was curious generally when that kind of information is decided and revealed. Obviously you can’t answer whether they are or not, so it’s more just when that kind of info will be revealed in comparison to other things such as full announcement. I tried writing a bunch of different responses to this but wasn't happy with any of them so unfortunately here is my answer,
I'm not as involved with the writing/narrative process, especially when it comes to the main story. I certainly am in the loop for important details but as to when things come along and why I'm not really equipped to give anything more than a best guess... but if you have questions about Combat/Progression I'm a lot better able to answer those.

In that case, maybe I can ask a question related to the goals you and your team have on those aspects. You mentioned before that itemization was one of the areas you wanted to improve in the next title, but when it comes general combat, what are some goals and/or challenges you hope to overcome that wasnt possible in previous games in the series? I'm sure playstyle variety factors in, but are there other elements you hope to enhance or alter? If I had to give an example, maybe you want the combat to feel more player involved (visceral) and less automated, which could bring the combat more in line with more action-oriented titles; like God of War or Kingdoms of Amalur.

Gamecrate: STAR WARS, DRAGON AGE, BATTLEFIELD GAMES AND MORE DISCOUNTED IN MASSIVE EA GAMES SALE gamecrate.com/star-wars-dragon-age-battlefield-games-and-more-discounted-massive-ea-games-sale/26148Seems like EA Games is doing some cleaning out of their vaults as they put more than 60 games on sale ranging from 50 percent to 85 percent off the original prices. We’re talking Anthem for $8.99, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for $26.99, and the entire Mass Effect Trilogy for $11.99. The sale is running until August 18 and for select games, you can get an additional 10 percent off using the promo code EASALE. - If there's anything you're missing, now might be the time to get it.

Ben Gelinas @bengelinasI created (with @nthornborrow) and wrote a large portion of both World of Thedas books, based on an internal lore wiki I also largely pulled together. But please never ask me deep lore questions on the spot. I wrote that shit down so I didn’t have to remember everything. Dragon Age has a lot of lore and that is partly why it is so special I think. There’s a whole world in there. With each game and story, you get to see a part of it. But you know there’s a lot more going on you might never live to see. Cuz Thedas is pretty dangerous sometimes.

Considering the dumbification of the combat from game to game i don't expect something better than MEA, especially if Morrison gonna be a live service you ain't gonna have any pausing or manual controlling of companions.

Why? I dunno, MEA combat was easily the best of the series and the pause menu was not needed, what was needed was more companion control IMHO.. but that also can be done without pausing. Also as this is DA thread, I liked the fighting in Inquisition the best easily. Its ok in both predecessors mostly.

MMO's and a lot of online games can't be paused. Anthem can't be paused. I do find it unlikely DA4 wouldn't have some sort of pause implemented tho.

For the sake of posterity, I'm the lead for RPG/Progression not Combat - they're very related and I work with them daily but I don't own the vision if that makes sense. I did however do both back when our team was much smaller so it makes sense to have thought that
