Personally, it is quicker for me to just type 'dragon age origins warrior talents' if I'm looking to pull a name or description, for example, rather than digging in to documents from previous titles. I do this too. I do have the Core Rule Book to cross check against as well if I feel the need.

Wasn't this a big complaint by gamers to Bioware for years? The lack of hair options? Oh absolutely! The 32 types of male-pattern baldness pissed off many-a fan back in the DA:I days.

I'm not surprised you're well-stocked. I know, I know. I visit DQ often enough to pick a thing or two But don't say it out loud too often, there's reputation to uphold!

Step one show 100 awesome hair styles with long flowing locks that blow in the wind in the game engine. Step two declare they all had to be cut due to clipping through ugly helmets.

Step three: despite cutting hair because "clipping", elf ears still clip thru some helmets But hey, short hair can also look glorious while blown in the wind.

How many hairs must a BioDev create, before you call them a Dev, And how many hairs must clip through a helm, before you tie it in a band? The answer my friend, is blowin in the wind, the answer is blowin in the wind.

Despite the new Frostbite hair physics,I expect nothing from BW regarding hair. I never have, and I never will, so I am never disappointed. It will always be created by a 173 year old man who is half blind (maybe Xenon?). Personally, though, I would like some decent eyebrows for my female characters. Like, can I have properly arched, not too furry brows, that actually extend the length of my eye? The only option I liked in DA still ended about 3/4 of the length they should have. Please have someone who loves make up do the eyebrows, please. And the eyeliner! I get it if you don't want to tightline the lower lid waterline, but if you are wearing eyeliner beneath the eye, please do not make it 1/4 of the way down the under eye area. That is all. Thank you.

Well, to me, it reflects their mental attitude towards producing a solid product.
The fact that Patrick legitimizes this is disturbing. Let's face it, if the Wiki is Bio's source for Lore info, where is the source authority? Where is the accuracy? Who is in charge of this Lore? Does anyone care?
We have a person for this yes. I think what Patrick was probably alluding to is that sometimes it's easier to google 'Dragon Age [thing]' for a very quick answer instead of digging in to the details - where it lives internally doesn't have a search tool as ...effective... as google's imo . They (writers) will rely on internal stuff when they actually need a fact rather than just a 'what's the [thing] again?' type lookups.
Personally, it is quicker for me to just type 'dragon age origins warrior talents' if I'm looking to pull a name or description, for example, rather than digging in to documents from previous titles.
So, return to DO:O warrior skills confirmed?

Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesNarrative Designers: You ever start to write the voice-over comment for how a line of dialogue should be delivered and then get annoyed that you can't just write, "Like how Dua Lipa delivers, 'Oh no!' in Break My Heart"? This could just be me. Other things I have tried writing in VO/Cinematic notes over the years: - While doing J-Law "Okay" face - Not TOTALLY Jake Peralta, but MOSTLY Jake Peralta - Like Eleanor saying "Okay, buddy," to Jason on the Good Place GTaichou Crown @gtpsijicMay I ask why you CAN'T give this as a VO note? I am neither a narrative designer or a VA and am very curious to know more. Thanks! Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesAs I understand it (VO actors, feel free to correct me), there’s a perception that by asking for a take that is “like (example),” you are effectively saying, “I wish we’d gotten (example), but we’re stuck with you.” Which is rude to the actors and not how we feel. Also, barring how excellent some specific line delivery will be as a meme later, it’s better to give actors as much freedom to deliver the line as you can, so they can do their best take, rather than a so-so impersonation of someone else. What’s more useful (I think) is saying something like, “Blunt, and please hit TIME in this sentence — its a callback to an earlier conversation.” People who have read my stuff or played characters I worked on may have noticed I occasionally do callbacks to earlier lines. (In case “so-so impersonation” sounds insulting: I do my best writing when I’m trying to write as ME. When I try to write like Terry Pratchett or David Gaider, I never do better than a so-so impersonation of them. Letting actors own their voices gets better performances.)

Or perhaps, like me, that have no f'ing idea who/what that is or what it might sound like, so referencing some other medium and / or performance is pointless.
This goes back to that other thing he was talking about a few days (weeks?) ago: don't assume people know your references.

David Gaider @davidgaiderJust to add to Patrick's point: I'd appreciate someone giving feedback of "write it exactly like this" no more than a voice actor appreciates being told "say it exactly like this". Voice actors are at their best when they're permitted to be performers, not mimics. Emily (aka Domino) Taylor pentapod Patrick's unique style of writing is at its best when they bring out the most likeable, sympathetic qualities in a complete rat-bastard character and makes you actually identify with them. ...I guess you'd call that writing style "sympatrico".

BioWare, despite getting taken to task for a variety of things in their games has ALWAYS had top notch voice acting, direction and casting. Imo.
