The central figure is crying black tears, which corresponds to the description of characters in the series having used blight magic. And remember Mythal stole the knowledge of the void from Andruil. Maybe the evanuris forced her to give up that knowledge or she was in fact using void magic secretly to boost her power. I think her stealing that knowledge from Andruil was the spark that ignited the Evanuris to move against her. I don't think she, like anyone else, was immmune to The Blight. She may have been experienced with it, however, like modern day Grey Wardens. Eventually, though, one will succumb to the taint. This idol seems to depict her death from Blight exposure - it almost looks like the creature is draining their lifeforce and infecting them with The Blight. But there's been hints that the front figure is Solas... if that's Solas, why isn't he dead along with Mythal? Solas claims he is unlike Mythal in that "this is who I"ve always been," but I think he isn't telling the entire truth. Mythal died, but a spark lived. I think it's the opposite for Solas here, if it is him. Solas left a spark to die with the real Mythal, while the real him survived. I wonder if that's who this blighted Dread Wolf creature we keep seeing in art is. I mean, he seemingly had a wolf companion. What happened to him? The idol the dwarf talked about in the Primal Thaig codex states that it was dwarven made. They seem to claim quite a bit of things though but if true then the dwarves witnessed an event and made a carving for it. And your question about Solas’ other half made me think of this codex from Trespasser which I’ve always wondered about. ...saw yht cross from the Volca, that which draggeth souls down to yhts larder in the brinedark. Hys beast preyth on humblewits and goldsworn even & the tower's keeper declares I will rest here if yht would ease me. The elvhen, which pulled me grip-up from my end, kends he is last of his kynde. I made it known elvhen live south-like, but he says yht would not be as yht was & I said that's evertrue & he laughed lark-like. Come dark he showed me a mirror deep strange, an "eluvian" sworne to beene in his family for... Could be a small dragon or a big dog perhaps? Though I don’t believe Solas is any more seperate from his wolf than Mythal is from her dragon, if he can even shift at all. I’ve always seen those depictions as nothing more than a visual of his dual nature. White wolf (the wisdom he wants to be again) in his romanced tarot and Trespasser ending slide, or black wolf (the pride he thinks he needs to be) if not. And depending on our choices, one of those sides will win out over the other.

Okay this is gonna be way out there but Ghila’nan liked to create things right? This is her as the first broodmother cradling her first children. I’m mostly joking but the saggy boobs and tentacle made me think of a broodmother and well… I've pointed out before (over on Crazy Theory thread I think) that the tentacle made me think of brood mothers, whoever the central figure is meant to be, and this could possible represent the first brood mother. It does depend on whether you think the thing at the base of the idol is depicting giving birth or is a monster devouring them. The central figure is crying black tears, which corresponds to the description of characters in the series having used blight magic. And remember Mythal stole the knowledge of the void from Andruil. Maybe the evanuris forced her to give up that knowledge or she was in fact using void magic secretly to boost her power. It could be she had only contained the corruption within her, as dragons are said to do, but this only lasted for so long and then it transformed her as well. Of course, that would make the action of the Evanuris possibly justified, as a mercy killing if nothing else. However, may be it was their attack on her that reduced her resistance and allowing the corruption to occur. As curious as I am about what the idol depicts, I'm also really curious about when it was made and what purpose it served. Why was it in that hidden thaig underneath Kirkwall? Who made it and what was it used for? Is the corrupted lyrium an intentional part, or was it made with regular lyrium and later corrupted to be used in some plot? I may be wrong but I don't think it was actually under Kirkwall but some miles distant through the Deep Roads. I seem to recall it is said that we spent some weeks travelling through the Deep Roads to get back to Kirkwall after escaping it. I also wonder if there was more than one idol. The idol referred to in the codex was said to be dressed in unfamiliar fashion but no mention of it looking entirely not dwarven and apart from the spiked crown and shoulder pads, it is difficult really to say what the figure is wearing in the lyrium idol. However, it has occurred to me that the idol seems to have a degree of control over the form it takes. Even after it was melted down into the sword, it apparently reformed inside Meredith, so perhaps it originally looked different, perhaps like Mythal as she was originally, and then transformed into looking as she became. Could that point to it having a piece of Mythal within it, like the piece of Flemeth that was in the amulet?

Is there a special reason that the Deception comic is so expensive on paper? Currently reading through all of them but I can't find an affordable copy.

There is a shortage of "everything" now.
Lumber prices are up 150 percent. Our industrial company is, for the first time, putting a packaging surcharge on one of our products because of the high price of wooden pallets.

don't think she, like anyone else, was immmune to The Blight. She may have been experienced with it, however, like modern day Grey Wardens. Eventually, though, one will succumb to the taint. This idol seems to depict her death from Blight exposure - it almost looks like the creature is draining their lifeforce and infecting them with The Blight. That's true, I can see this being the case too. I think it's appearance sure seems to have something to do with Mythal's death. The idol could just have been crafted as a reminder of who/what betrayed her, and used in some sort of elven ritual to restore her (like the puzzle we did in trespasser to get to the elven ruins island). I'm not yet convinced the front figure is Solas though. I think the back figure is just throwing me off... I've wondered about this too, and if this is the case I feel like there must be some significance to the figures if the idol keeps changing appearances. The figures look elven to me, but other than that I can't think of anything that really identifies them. also, here is the panel I was referring to from Dark Fortress, for reference :

I tend to think more of the Mother when it comes to that tentacle with the idol.

Also Mythal is known as the All Mother of the elves and as depicted in her mosaic. She is embracing her children and has visible breasts, just like the idol, and unlike the mosaics depicting the other female gods. So the idol could be depicting a twisted form of Mythal, giving birth to corrupted children and being conflicted by it, both embracing them and being horrified by it.

That rock texture on the cube at the start...hum... Looks... Wolfy... I don't know how anyone could make out something like that from a rock texture. If that's a clue then ... very poorly hinted. Make something iconic to the franchise. Something that looks like Red Lyrium, at least. A wolfy rock texture is just ... how would I even know what that is?

As someone commented on Reddit, it seems unlikely that DA4 would release an Alpha build unless it’s an online game.

Alpha is just a development stage. This could mean something like they are preparing to show gameplay in the alpha stage, or it could mean nothing at all.

As someone commented on Reddit, it seems unlikely that DA4 would have an Alpha version unless it’s an online game. Technically all games have alpha versions. Just depends on the naming convention for pre-release builds of the dev. It's probably an alpha for internal testing.

As someone commented on Reddit, it seems unlikely that DA4 would have an Alpha version unless it’s an online game. All games have alpha versions and BioWare doesn't do public tests for the alpha of their online games (they didn't do it for SWTOR or Anthem, both were in betas). BioWare devs have often shown photo of pre-alpha/alpha version console disks they were taking home for home testing. Some of the latest consoles don't have disk support, that means devs have to go through the console store now. Developers have been using Steam (and EA with Origins) to do those "dev at-home testing" (aka friends and family testing) for a few years now. It has nothing to do with the game being online or not.
