I don't play Mass Effect on Xbox 360. Whether you want to use the glitch with him wearing that armor that's really up to you. Just like its up to you to romance either Liara or Garrus... and you can romance both. Liara in ME1, Garrus in ME2, pick either one in ME3.

Well, not to make this topic die and no longer get posts (since I'm enjoying it), but you guys have overall helped me to decide. I think Liara will get the paragone tech character and Garrus the renegade vanguard. But now that I've decided, I guess this topic will drop off the page since its purpose is fulfilled.
Also, that glitch isn't 360 only. Last I checked, it works on all versions of ME1. I just about always do it with a fair number of characters. Want your look for Ashley to be heavy phoenix armor but you only got heavy krogan phoenix armor? No problem, put it on her. Also, for roleplaying. I like to put Liara and Kaidan in medium armor by the end of the game, to show their development and experience with combat increasing over the course of the game, to show how they've gotten strong enough to at least handle medium. Also, Shepard. Doesn't matter if I started off as a light armor wearing adept earlier, by mid-game I'll be wearing medium. By end-game, heavy. I purposefully space it out kinda like for Kaidan and Liara, Shepard needs time to learn to wear heavier and heavier armors. My current one is in medium now and likely will be until about Virmire, where she'll be in heavy (still got Feros and Noveria left, in that order, plus still at least another dozen uncharted world sidequests to hit still). I mean, Shepard is in heavy during the Normandy attack in the intro to ME2 and all the armor you can wear in MD2 looks fairly heavy itself. So it's canon fact that, regardless of class, Shepard learns to wear heavy before ME2. So I may as well pretend she learned while I'm still playing as her instead of some undisclosed number of months between games. It's not like wearing heavy makes the game easy for me, since I wear Onyx armor because it's the N7 armor of ME1 (and Onyx armor has some of the worst stats of any armor in the game, so it's not like Onyx X heavy is going to much for me at keeping me alive).

Personally I try out as much as possible and try different Shepards with a different mind-set, romances and different squad mates/'best friends' all the time. I never think about whether a class of a squaddie complements my Shepard as I feel that ME is comfortable enough for me even on Insanity. For example I ran an Infiltrator with Garrus and Tali in ME1 for RP reasons... it was her two best friends (and later Garrus was her LI) and her against the rest of the world geth. Not the best idea against organic enemies, but it worked out alright, and the fun against geth was priceless The combinations and different setups with weapons, powers and squadmates are insane in ME and it's fun to try out a variety of things. I see you've already decided, so I hope you have fun The possibilities with this trilogy are amazing and it's always worth to explore more of it. I plan a Renegade Soldier-FemShep romancing Liara and I look really forward to it because they're gonna be an interesting couple to me, a Paragon character paired with someone who's ruthless, blunt and gets the job done no matter what sounds pretty exciting to me.

I just romance whichever character catches my interest.
