In an effort to provide an expanded space to talk about other video games between BioWare's releases, we created several boards for major developers. We've been watching the traffic (or lack thereof, in some cases) and also listening to feedback, and in 48 hours we will implement a slight restructure that will look like the following: - Renaming "All Other Games" to "General Games Discussion" and moving it to the top of the Other Games category.
- Combining Bungie Games (low traffic) and Digital Extremes Games (low traffic) into one board for all your non-BioWare science fiction looter shooter needs. This means all current threads will move into the one combined board so we can delete the current Digital Extremes board to tighten up space better.
Questions, concerns, suggestions, and general feedback on the proposed restructuring of the Other Games category can be discussed in this thread.

why rename "all other games" ? just curious. Just sounds better, to be honest. But that's only my opinion. EDIT: Also, because it broadens it up. Folks don't have to feel like they need to talk about other games only. It could be a good place for general gaming news discussion as well.

Just an observation: I found myself posting in the "other games" category less often after the last restructuring because I found the new structure a bother to navigate and it was impossible to see at a glance (i.e. in one thread list) which games people were talking about.

I have been wondering what the reason for such a relatively small developer like Digital extreme got their whole subforum for what amounts to a single game and Behemoths like Blizzard wasn't better suited for it?

In the main, it's a judgment call based upon what BSNers tend to discuss. The current tweak reacts to posting traffic over the last couple of months.

Cool, I like the subforums since it is easier for me to navigate. I was just curious since Digital extreme is one thread at a total of 13 pages and in the Blizzard example we have to start with Overwatch at a hundred. Then there is Diablo, WOW, SC, Hots, HS, WC. None of then has as much interst here as OW though.

These restructuring changes have now been completed. In the main, it's a judgment call based upon what BSNers tend to discuss. The current tweak reacts to posting traffic over the last couple of months. Cool, I like the subforums since it is easier for me to navigate. None of then has as much interst here as OW though. These are very good points brought up about perhaps having enough threads/traffic/interest to open a Blizzard board. I will bring this topic back to the moderation staff to discuss as a possible future update.

I hope this is still the appropriate place to post feedback on your restructuring of the "Other Games" section.
I was on-board with your first breaking up of the section into sub-forums by developer, thinking that it'd help keeping threads for specific games relevant - and on the front page of their new homes. Now that you have started merging developers though, I cannot help but feel that it creates unnecessary and arbitrary fragmentation, instead of fostering discussions; for example, nowadays I just glance over the main section, see my thread of choice on top of its subforum and with no new posts, and never bother opening any of the subforums. While this might save me time, it also means I am potentially not seeing threads that would be of interest to me, and that might keep me reading and creating content here, instead of moving on to other sites.
(And to the slanderous posts slung towards DE and Warframe, I reply indignantly: we do not create much discussion here, because we are too busy farming items in-game and browsing the wiki in order to understand poorly-explained-yet-vital mechanics ...all 6 of us! actually I agree, there does not seem to be too much interest in the game at the moment here, certainly not enough to justify it having its own sub-forum ).
In the spirit of constructive criticism, I offer two half-baked alternatives for discussion:
This is not a general gaming forums, but one already oriented to a few specific game genres. Why not use that information as guideline for the "Other Games" structure? You could e.g. go with four subforums: sci-fi 1st/3rd person RPG/shooter (halo, fallout, doom, ...), fantasy RPG (the witcher, elder scrolls, ...), online multiplayer shooters (overwatch, destiny, warframe, ...), other games. You then have a structure that somewhat mirrors the games/series that draw users here, and which might help said users find and discuss other, similar games to what they play.
Alternatively, just dispense with the whole sub-forum structure, but ask posters to create and maintain a specific thread for each popular game: write a well put-together and informative first post, keep it updated as necessary, be at hand to offer answers to new players, ... Allow other threads as long as they remain short (question-and-answer type of threads), but merge them with the bigger thread if they start spinning off. Threads live and die based on how much interest they garner, and users are exposed to what is popular with other forumites - which again might help fostering interest, and might keep posters (more) engaged. Most of the really popular threads seem to be about gaming in general, so there could be a concern that those would fill the front page and drown game threads, but there's a few ways to go about it: create one specific subforum for that kind of discussion, or make sure there is no overlap between general threads and prune as necessary, or just wait and see - again, posters' activity decides what stays relevant; you are simply (attempting to) streamline the subforum, making game threads easier to find.
And those are my 2 cents. Especially in this lull among BioWare releases, I find the "Other Games" section has the potential to become the home of many users, and giving it a sleek and informative structure would go a long way in keeping folks hanging around the campfires here, while we wait for BioWare to reveal/publish new content

This is an interesting idea. My instinct is that we'd want to see how the current set-up progresses for a little while at least, but this is an interesting alternative. Would certainly welcome other views in this.

Would certainly welcome other views in this. I rather like this idea, kind of a half-way between one-board-that-has-everything (like it was before), and the current set of 6-8 segmented by developer (except destiny and warframe). I'm just not sure exactly where to draw the category lines. I think what HamleticTortoise laid out is a starting point, but I think some of the categories need a little tweaking. This is all food for thought. Like where does something like Fallout 76 belong? Is Halo an fps, or is it competitive mp? arguably it's both, but which one do people talk more about? I guess there could be multiple threads in different sections depending on which aspect of the game they're discussing. Same with The Division... I stayed out of the PvP area, and really, I didn't even do much in the way of Co-op, same with Borderlands. FPS - Half-life, Halo, Call of Duty, BioShock, Metro 2033, Doom, Halo, Destiny, Warframe, Overwatch, Battlefield, R6S A/RPG - Elder Scrolls, Witcher, Fallout, Alpha Protocol, Borderlands, CP2077*, Deus Ex, The Outer Worlds*, The Division, Dark Souls Competitive MP - Overwatch, Fortnite Cooperative MP - Warframe, Vermintide, Payday, Fortnite

Ownership changes, but genre categories not so much. Also better to find stuff that interests people if it's sorted by genre.

regack, it totally is a starting point, hence why I previewed it with the "half-baked"
Specifically to the genre suggestion, of course there'd be hard-to-decide cases, but in the end it wouldn't make that much of a difference in which subforum a game ends, provided that the number of subforums remains small, and that the sorting decision remains consistent. A good starting point IMO would be to think "which of the BioWare games featured here does this one product resemble the most?" I have never played Borderlands, but isn't the main draw the sp campaign there? Then I'd shove it into the "Mass Effect-like" subforum. On the other hand, I have played Warframe, and while it has now grown a considerable story which is mostly experienced in sp mode, it remains at heart a multiplayer game.
Also, personally I wouldn't see the point in separating competitive and cooperative mp games; I suspect there is enough overlap in gamers' population across the genres that pooling them together would be more useful than separating them.
I am glad my suggestion is sparking an interest and some discussion! Food for thought is always good for one's diet
