Battlefleet Gothic 2 has solid ship combat gameplay, but the campaign while being mostly dynamic features scripted milestone-missions and I just can't be arsed to play them.

I should have listened to the people who warned me about RDR 2. Really wish I hadn't bothered ever starting the SP campaign.

For the disappointment factor: Advent Rising
The soundtrack is AMAZING in my opinion. The story was a concept I felt, and still feel, is one of my favorite themes: "Humans are Special".
The powers are real cool to use, and really make you feel like a God-in-training without just giving you "I-win" buttons. Some of the final climactic moments are messianic in the best sense, a real "Look at our potential!"
The human weapons look really cool; (The H.A.Z.E. Blaster is my favorite sci-fi weapon, bar none).
The choice to save Gideon's brother or his fiance was harrowing for me, and the alien race wanting to exterminate humans was REALLY scary for me.
For context, this was 2005.
The reason I say disappointment is because this is CLEARLY the first chapter in a saga, the epilogue has you stranded on a frozen tundra of a world after being sucked into an emotional black hole (it makes sense in context), where a guy in a hooded robe of a species you've never met picks up Gideon's unconscious form and says: "Come human, we have much to do."
And that's it.
It never sold well, because it had to compete with Halo 2, even though it was a year old at the time. I remember that day, because school was basically empty. Some teachers even "called in". It was even more pronounced when Halo 3 arrived in 2007. We got a half-day out of it because literally THAT MANY people didn't show up to class.
Anyway, it had everything going for it, from setting to characterization to cinematography. But they weren't given enough time to FINISH their product, and it ended up being rushed and bug-ridden.
But man, when it worked, it was GLORIOUS.

Current worst game...POE2. The loading times make the game unplayable!!! Hopefully I can play it on the PS5.

I should have listened to the people who warned me about RDR 2. Really wish I hadn't bothered ever starting the SP campaign. Not sure how far you made it, but Chapter 1 nearly made me pull my hair out with boredom. Getting off that damned mountain is priority number one to enjoy the game, followed by a half-dozen main story missions in chapter 2 (Horseshoe Overlook). I damn near quit the thing early on, only persevered because a couple of forum users here whose opinions I trust gushed about the game so much. I consider it to be one of the greats, having finished it once and am past the halfway point in a second PT. It is very, very slow to get moving, though.

The multi-class system works really well, in my opinion, but it's difficult to see if that's a combo you really want until it's "too late", and while re-specing is a thing, it's increasingly expensive the higher-level you are, and money isn't always easy to come by.

Recently? The most recent Tomb Raider. After playing Uncharted 4, I was bored with the Tomb Raider sequel after a few minutes of listening to Lara crying and moaning while climbing the mountain, but since I liked the first one, I stay committed and ploughed through the story. I canβt remeber any characterβs name besides Jonah and Lara. I have no flippin clue what the story was about. At one point I was attempting to collect everything on the map, but I couldnβt make myself do even that. Never in my life have I played an action game with such an uncharismatic lead character than Lara. The physics were floaty, the action was flat, the combat dull and the environment sucked!! Who wants to be stuck playing in frozen tundra 80% of the time? I felt like I was stuck on a freaking Russian nuclear submarine. The game was soooo boring. Only thing that made it go down easier was that I was binging Better Call Saul on Netflix. I didnβt remember the other Tomb Raider game being so awful. Overall? That Ark game is pretty horrendous. A friend convinced me to get it, and after 5 minutes I requested a refund. Pure horse shit. U.I. and character design made my eyes bleed. I know it was in its beta at the time or whatever, but I donβt care. Runner up would be Mario Maker. Good concept, but you know you have a problem when the top rated levels are auto play levels. Yeah Lara cries and moans in every game. There is little to like about her. Not sure why Jonah is so loyal. Having said that I do enjoy playing the TR games. Not the best games out there, but far from the worst IMO

Worst game lately is Plague Tale Innocence. Because the combat relies on upgrades you have to scout the temp locations for, and can be unforgiving if you make mistakes. So I just rage quit playing, and I'm watching the last 1-2 chapters for its nonsense story to see if it every finally makes sense once they reveal everything or if it was stupid all along.
Edit add:
I watched the ending, then read an explanation of the ending, and man am I glad I gave up on this. No satisfying explaination for anything. Bah on what could have been awesome.

I dicked around a lot early on in the game, basically trains vs bounty hunters. Had a lot of fun, trains > bounty hunters. And then I found out that a number of items are locked behind the honor system, and I didn't notice any low honor exclusives. Kinda killed my desire to play. Trains vs Bounty Hunters I did try to spam the greeting thing to boost honor which also had a hilarious outcome. Gotta watch where you're going!

Trains vs Bounty Hunters I did try to spam the greeting thing to boost honor which also had a hilarious outcome. Gotta watch where you're going! The RDR2 Horse Fails on Youtube are entertaining. There are no - to my knowledge - gameplay bonuses to low honour, but you do get different content at various stages. And low honour is absolutely the path to riches if you don't want to do the explorer challenges and find all those gold bars to sell for $500 a piece. Greeting spam gets some pretty amusing responses, as well. I'm loving it, still. Just crept over 300 hours (Chapter 4 of 2nd PT) - which I know is small time for a lot of people here, but for me it is a huge amount of time on one game - and am chasing down the last few challenges while also handling hunting/exotic requests. Spending a lot of time away from camp and Dutch with his 'plaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan'.

Yeah theer are a few games that can b ea bit slow in getting going but once you really get into them the ycan be quite good fun. They just require a little patience. I've not played RDR myself but I have played a lot of other games like that.

The worst game I have ever played was Dragon Age 2, though I always double and triple check and do my research before getting a game so even bad games aren't complete disasters for me. Dragon Age 2 was like a 4/10 for me. Lately, I got myself Assassins Creed - Odyssey, I thought I would like it but it just failed to capture my interest. I can't even say whats wrong with it, the graphics are nice, maps beautiful, the characters good, the general mood is fun as well but its just....bland, or empty. And it suffers from the typical open-world rinse & repeat gameplay. Not a fault of the game itself per se, more a general unavoidable problem with this kind of design. Haven't fired it up in weeks and feel no desire to.

Not gonna lie. Nearly half of the games you guys have mentioned here are actually some of the best games I've played. KOTOR, DA2, DA:I, RDR2, ME3, Witcher 3, Battlefield V, the Sims 4, and Last of Us 2? If those are the worst games you guys have played recently, that only means that the market has been saturated with too many great games.
