Be interested to hear how you get on. I recall reading that you thought RDR2 was a bit too slow, is that right? I'm playing it now and loving it, but found KCD leaned a bit too heavily on the "realism", to the point of excluding "fun". Oh - and 47 hours put in...I did give it a serious try... Okay, that's good to know. Thanks for the heads-up! RDR2 I just found... boring. And slow. It just never grabbed me. I'll give KCD a chance (I don't have any other games on the go atm). There's a few mods I'm eyeing for it as well, which I'm hoping will help with the overall experience. At least I won't have buyer's remorse if it doesn't work for me. I loved KCD, but I didn't finish it. Totally my fault, I killed myself stupidly (aka fall damage) and I ended up pissed at myself for forgetting to save after 3 hours of playing when I've been playing the game for over 50 hours and I knew better. Maybe one day I'll return to it.

That's a must have for any rpg. I can't think of one where I don't have a ton of saves, just to save progress and differentiate quests and whatnot. The save limits in ME/DA later games really annoyed me. Saving shouldn't be made difficult for no reason, and the developer trying to tell me how to play is not a good one.

Oh yeah...game saving... There's a mod for that! If it's the same mod I tried for KCD, it often doesn't work for some users. As for the game...omg, boring AF. It looks pretty, which is the only positive thing I can say about it.
Starts off well enough and you think it will pick up and get better and better, but...no. At some point you will realize the game has very few good quests (and they are done and gone in the first several hours) among an ocean of stupid and artificially prolonged fetch tasks.
I can understand that some people find awesome the chore of spending 2.5 hours feeding their dog, washing themselves, looking for food, riding a long time from point A to point B with no encounters, sifting through their bags and getting about 30 minutes of something barely resembling a game out of a total 3 hours playtime...I mean realism, amirite? But what I don't get is how anyone can find the majority of quests in this game even remotely adequate. What a usual quest (90 % of them) entails - speak to NPC, get sent to pick/buy flowers, talk to another NPC, get sent to find ingredients, talk to original NPC, get sent to a three separate towns all across the map to get something/talk to someone, get sent to hunt/pick flowers in each of those towns, report to yet another mfking NPC, get told your efforts did jackshit and now you need to do something totally different, but have to wait 2 days before you can do it, then you spy/kill/rob someone and if you are lucky, that might be the end of the quest. But you know what's the funny part? All this will take actually about 20% of the time to finish the quest, because 80% of it will be riding, eating, sleeping and waiting for the "pass the time" clock. Realism, yay!
There is a monastery quest that sounds great on paper, but omg, how stupidly stretched and boring it becomes...Like every other quest in the game.
Combat is shit. Realistic? No, just boring and takes far too long. I tried light armor, heavy armor and it's just the same boring result. Stealth is borderline useless and probably broken.
Seems more than half of the perks and abilities are to actually get rid of the grindy and boring "realism" of the game. "Eat rotten food", "No hunger when stationary", "No stamina drain", "Sleep anywhere", etc. Which kinda shows how the entire skill system is pointless, not to mention that just about all of the combat combinations you can spent points on are totally useless.

I also miss being able to name our saves... I have noticed that there were a lot of changes to how save games worked when cloud saves were introduced. It was either things like naming or number of saves became limited or aspects of the game itself changed so they would be saving less information so the uploads were smaller. Bethesda still has a bloated save system because of what it saves for if you touch that fork its information is added to your save file, but with Inquisition BioWare made a lot of things a checklist so it was a simple "yes or no" for saving information.

I was looking at that and thinking "we already know it was delayed to April"...and totally missing that it was the PC version delayed to 2021, because the game has a timed exclusive deal. Bah, wasn't interested in playing it anyhow.

For some reason I missed the announcement completely, but while it's a bit old news by now I am still exited that Trails Of Cold Steel III is coming to the PC at March 23. I am even more happy the game will be sold on the GOG platform too, because that's where I have all my Falcom games (Ys series, Trails in The Sky series, Trails of Cold Steel series, Tokyo Xanadu eX+, Xanadu Next, Zwei).
Here is the announcement:

This isn't so much gaming 'news' as gamers 'beware'.
So recently Yoshi P mentioned that they weren't going to monitor what 3rd party programs you have on your computer when playing FFXIV partly because it was illegal to do so. I thought that was pretty interesting, how do companies tell if you're using illegal 3rd party software?
Then Luke from LinusTechTips got banned from WoW for 6 months. No information given. After monumental pestering they revealed it was due to using 3rd party software then refused to discuss the matter any further. The problem was he never used 3rd party software.
So after airing his disappointment on YouTube, which followed many, many people also expressing their … disappointment to Blizzard it prompted them to further look into the matter. Apparently what happened, and they don't want to give too many details, is that Luke's behaviour in game led to them to suspect he was using 3rd party software. Their suspicion wasn't dispelled during an investigation and so Luke was banned. Happily a further investigation led to the discovery that Luke did nothing wrong and so this story has a happy ending.
But the only reason he was unbanned is because LTT has 10 million followers on YouTube. Because they don't want to discuss how they detect you use 3rd party software, essentially it looks like they use algorithms that monitor people's behaviour in game, if you get banned for this practice and you are innocent you have zero chance you will get your ban overturned.
The most helpful advice given to Luke before he brought the matter up on YouTube was to "make another account and play on that".
So be careful out there guys. They can't monitor the software on your computer it seems so they approximate with … algorithms or something.
Here's the clip discussing the resolution, and below that is the clip from a week earlier discussing his ban and Blizzard's refusal to communicate with him about it:

Here's the clip discussing the resolution, and below that is the clip from a week earlier discussing his ban and Blizzard's refusal to communicate with him about it: I don't think Yoshi P. is correct with it being illegal. Its been happening far too long by too many companies to prevent cheating that they are crossing into the illegal territory. Especially with the money Blizzard is protecting with their subscription revenue. It depends on what they are doing on your computer and it seems Blizzard has been really careful in the last 15 years monitoring player's actions that they haven't been struck down to this date. My guess is even with Final Fantasy XV you are being monitored just not by their program, but Steam if you use it in the Steam client. As far as Warden itself, if you have ever played a Blizzard game online in the last 15 years you have had Warden looking at you. Its designed carefully not to violate laws and only to monitor Blizzard's software and what you are doing to it. To be honest I think any of the popular anti-cheat software out there will do the exact same thing and I will include launchers like Steam in that statement as well. The issue with Luke seems to be a human issue where they didn't do a proper review after Warden flagged it.
