And as far as the EU labour laws are concerned, I don't know... maybe there's a loophole in the Polish labour laws that allow for this? They do have to pay OT, I do know that. The same laws apply in Poland as in the rest of EU. The only loophole I can think of right now is freelance work, where your working hours are based on deadline rather than average 40h/week. The simplest and most probable answer is that CDPR, like most game developers all over the world, flouts labour law as a matter of course.

I asked on twitter, and it's pretty easy to circumvent... SimplyRas @simply_rassyThe EU Labour laws allow employees to “voluntarily” do more than the law allows if they chose so. They can’t directly fire you for not doing the overtime (it is something like 54 hrs a week limit though so still a lot of hours) but there are absolutely other ways to pressure employees to do the overtime. α丂ᛕ𝔞𝐆𝒶爪ᗴ𝓭ᵉⓥ @askagamedevIt doesn't have to be firing. Passing you over for promotions/pay raises, for example. Assigning you unfulfilling work tasks. If they decide to have a layoff, those who don't crunch are much more likely to be let go, even if it isn't being fired *for* not crunching The key word here is "voluntary". This is one reason they couch their "requests" as "non-obligatory" crunch

I fear they’re only going to do things like this more and more, since consensus seems to be the new Xbox is the better console of this upcoming generation. From a technical standpoint, but it won’t matter if it doesn’t have content to outmatch the competitor. Yup. The PS3 was the more capable console but the Xbox360 I bought was imo the better console. Way cheaper and it had a number of really cool exclusives. I mean, it had ME1. Case closed. If I buy another console it will be the one that has the more attractive exclusives. If most go to PC eventually anyway I might stick to PC only for this generation. Or I'll buy the console really late for cheap again, same I did with the PS4 Pro. The PS4 was not really worth it in the end for me. I bought 6 games for it, one I haven't played yet. I believe only one of those is still exclusive...

Even the exclusives have a hard time getting me interested in the consoles anymore since the majority of games feel so much like one another its to the point I just go and play the similar ones. My friends this generation have a share system that doesn't sound like it will be happening with the upcoming generation of consoles.

Neither console at launch had backwards compatibility so I felt that i fthe opportuniy arose I coul dtry some Xbox games if there were any that caught my eye . The second was the moment the Halo MCC was announced I fel tth eneed to try it as whilst I played the original and 2 on PC I hadn'r tplayed 3 or 4 at that time. I hadalways been intersted in Halo bu tbeing on Ps all th eway to 3 I hadn' thad a real chance t oplay Halo. I mus tadmit I'm glad it's call coming t oPC now I'm just hoping 5 isn' t too far behind even if it isn't part of the MCC

People are expecting the PS5 to have already won. Reports are Sony has boosted production of their PS5 consoles and ordering 50% more this year than they already intended at around 9 or 10 million consoles, just to keep up with demand. In comparison the PS4 sold 4 million units in the opening month. If demand is anywhere near what Sony expects, it's already over. But we'll have to wait and see.

I'm not planning on getting either tbh esprcially as th ebes tgames that th consoles have tenddto make their way to PC anyway

This is a counter to what Jason Schreier approach with that article. The short version is if you think you are worth more do, this companies have a bottomless pit of people that want to work there and you are going to compete against that. Its the same with multiple other industries. Lawyer breaking down Jason Schreier's article

Considering the surge is only for PS4, I don't think your first takeaway is correct. Of course people don't care about console exclusives...when they are the ones getting said exclusive content. Also yeah, Spiderman is one of Marvel's if not the most iconic characters. It's like having Superman available only for one console.

Yeah I don' t really care too much about exclusivity it's part of gaming culture and I'm not going to let Spidey ruin my opportunity to enjoy what looks like a good game either tbh. If I can't play with him because I've chosen the PC vresion then so be it I'm no tgoing to rob myself of the opportunity of playing with the other heroes. Hopefully it's just a timed exclusive and eventually everyone wil get to play with him. By that I mean hopefully those that are on Xbox and PC will just have to wait a bit longer like when Playstation had to wait an extra year to play Rise of the Tomb Raider. I doubt Sony would be able to stop Marvel from keeping Spidey off the other systems altogether given Spidey is Marvel's creation so technically they own him. Sony only have a license to use him in movies and games at Marvel's discretion. Similar to how Codemastres for example has an official license to make F1 games and EA has a Star Wars license.

Though judging b yth efact that Microsoft are kind of doing away with exclusoives next gen given even Halo iscoming to PC now i tlookslik eat leas tthe ydon' tcaer any moer about warring with other systems. The XBOX to PC thing isn't what's worth taking note of this gen. Microsoft has a huge install base in the PC market of course they're not going to mind XBOX games going to PC, that's hardly surprising. It's the streaming aspect of the new XBOX that has everyone paying attention. Game streaming is touted as the next big thing and everyone is rushing to get a piece of the pie *looks at Stadia*, and Microsoft is no different with their game pass. So when Microsoft was showcasing all the new games for XBOX and making it clear that every single one of those games would make it to Game Pass on day one, it was pretty clear that Microsoft are looking to push with their new XBOX Series ... X I think their Game Pass streaming model. It's not a battle of consoles, Microsoft aren't interested at that. Microsoft want you to sign up to their streaming service and they will be pushing it aggressively going forward. So just like it was this gen this is very much a battle of ideologies imo. Once again Sony offers an excellent, traditional console experience while Microsoft is offering their vision of the future of gaming. Netflix for gaming? Woooooowwwww. It may appeal to people who are getting tired of forking out 70 dollars for a game, but I'm at the stage in my life where I have the money and would rather I own most of my games outright thank you very much. Who's the Publisher of the Avengers game? Square Enix. Sooooooo... it might possibly be an actual exclusive. EDIT: Went and looked around a little and apparently this specific version of the Spiderman might be intellectual property created specifically from Sony's films, and therefore Sony might have a little more leverage to push there.
