Meh TikTok is pretty much Chinese government spyware and it's not like Tencent has controversies. That being said American social media like Facebook and Twitter are no different.
"Aeon Must Die! was a game revealed at yesterday's Sony State of Play. The beat-em up/fighter game looked interesting, with a vibrant Tron-esque aesthetic.
However it looks like there’s unresolved issues behind the scenes, as on the same day another version of the trailer was uploaded to Youtube that linked to a dropbox folder - it reveals that all of the Estonian Studio Limestone Games developers recently quit due to conflict, abuse, harassment, and severe crunch. It goes without saying that this isn’t a typical situation, with what amounts to a whole development team publicly announcing their resignation exactly when their game is shown off.
After watching both the original trailer, and the trailer during the State of Play side by side, they are clearly different. It looks like the State of Play one does actually have some extra scenes in it. This is important to note, because the original trailer upload says this:
“People who have worked on every shot of this are no longer with the company holding IP rights.
Some were not even paid for their work.
This trailer has a pending conflict of IP.
The real IP for the game was stolen from the creators via foul play.
Final reaction of the publisher to this information remains to be seen.”Only at the last minute before the State of Play on August 6th do the team manage to get ahold of the publishers Head of Legal, who says the publisher see’s no issue with the trailer, and that it would be “an amazing push for the game”.
The team put together a Dropbox that’s available to the public, which contains statements and evidence - some details of which, such as names, has been redacted for legal reasons. It details how 8 of the employees at Limestone games, including the Founder/CCO all resigned due to “endless crunch, harassment, abuse, corruption, and manipulation”.
Whilst trying to resolve the work contract, Limestone Games apparently sent the team a message in regards to discussing completion of them, but each employee was to be seen individually at different times. Which they declined to do, believing this to be an “attempt to segregate” them. This amongst a backlog of other evidence in the Dropbox, implies that the CEO of Limestone games was attempting to get rid of the project and team as soon as possible, whilst paying them a “criminally minimal expense”.
Limestones publisher remained silent whilst the CEO of Limestone Games sent “threat letters, legal accusations, [and] unlawfully fired everyone before the agreed upon resignation date, put a black mark on everyone’s government work record”
As of right now, both the publisher Focus Home Interactive, and Studio Limestone games haven’t given comment about the situation. It’s thus vital to note that we only have one side of the narrative, even if it doesn’t paint the CEO of Limestone and Focus Home Interactive in a positive light."
Holy shit.

WeChat can be used for payment processing, Tencent also has their own payment processing, this can definitely hurt digital game sales and microtransactions in China. Though I personally don't care, the less game companies censoring their games or turn them into mobile games in order to sell it in China - the better it is for the rest of us.
Geoff Keighley @geoffkeighley Don't miss the world premiere of THE ANCIENT GODS: PART 1, the new campaign expansion of @doom Eternal during @gamescom Opening Night Live, streaming live on August 27! #SummerGameFest
The article actually does not say that Sony wants more "anime games", although I don't doubt that is part of it. It says that Sony is looking to get into making more anime, as in the actual shows.
As for the "why?" Because they want to make more money, obviously.
On the issue of "censorship", a company deciding of its own free will to alter content before shipping a game internationally is not censorship at all. And people who flip their shit because an extra two square inches of cloth stop them from seeing a cartoon girl's outer labia deserve the aneurysm they will no doubt give themselves, lol.
Okay seriously, why the FUCK are Microsoft still making us buy fucking AA batteries? They got a majority stake in Energizer or something?
Maybe! On the one hand, I agree that batteries are so out of fashion and cumbersome. On the other hand, you are very unlikely to ever have to replace a controller because the internal charger is broken. Any built in battery/charger system is bound to die. My AA battery powered Xbox 360 controllers still work after 15 years! The expensive portable DAC I bought died within 5 years, wouldn't charge anymore. Replacement of the internal battery would have cost me 200 bucks...
Not every outdated technology is bad. I don't find replacing my rechargable batteries any more annoying than having to switch between two PS4 controllers. And if both are empty I have to plug in the cord and sit at the edge of my couch. Ugh.

I mean, given the overall length of a console cycle in the first place, (not factoring in the smaller, better versions that usually spawn around the mid-point) it's unlikely that I'll find myself replacing the controller before I replace the console, I feel. At least not because it "wore out"
- It looks like the 3000 series will be announced on Aug. 31st. Might be time for an upgrade if the price is right...
I haven't upgraded since DAI, so I might need to think about it as well. Though... part of me wants to wait for DA4 (or when my PC shows me middle finger), since nowadays I do majority of my gaming of Switch anyway and PC games I still play run ok. Ugh.

I am waiting to see the requirements for Hitman 3, since I don't think stretching out my current set-up until DA4 actually appears is going to be either possible or advisable. That way I can hopefully pick up some stuff on sale after Christmas!

I wish I had PC game I wait for outside DA4. Maybe that'd give me kick to upgrade

Geoff Keighley @geoffkeighley Although expected, this Xbox News Wire post now confirms the Xbox Series X launch as being in "November" not just Holiday 2020.
