PlayStation @playstation State of Play returns this Thursday! Tune in live at 2 PM PT/5 PM ET to see updates and deep dives for games coming to PS4 and PS5.
EA Motive's Gaia was first announced in 2015 when Jade Raymond joined the company. (She left EA in the fall of 2018.) It was teased again last summer during an EA video presentation. But this month, EA canceled the game
Here's the tiny glimpse we got of the game last year (starting at 0:59)
Daniel Ahmad @zhugeex This was the Assassin's Creed style action game that EA was working on.
EA must have been trimming troubled titles in development this week. Sadly its probably the same story as when Visceral's Star Wars game was cancelled. Doing the math they just didn't see a road to success and decided to cut the game without risking more money.
- Missed initial sales targets by hundreds of thousands - Tried to take on consoles rather than starting small - To bring in games like Red Dead, Google spent astronomical sums (tens of millions *each*)
Just to reiterate the absurdity of this thing: Sources say Google spent tens of millions of dollars -- the budgets of some major games -- PER Stadia port.
Publishers like Ubisoft and Take-Two were raking it in
Jason Schreier @jasonschreier I know lots of people are desperate for Elden Ring news. I don't know much about it (except that it's been delayed a bunch). But there is strong evidence floating around that the game will be shown relatively soon. It's not going to pull a Winds of Winter. Elden Ring has pages.
dulllen @dulllenduck Any idea if it's still slated for this year?
Jason Schreier @jasonschreier Honestly I wouldn't trust any release dates this year unless they're less than a month away.

Exactl ywhy I had a feeling Kena was getting delayed given they hadn't been showing it off. All we had was a couple of promo trailers and no looks at the gameplay.
A couple of Elden Ring leaks from an unreleased trailer (shown to some last year) are making the rounds this morning. Super-low quality, but... apparently legit according to Schreier & Grubb.

Okay, that seemed to have opened the floodgates for a ton of trailer clips for Elden Ring. Apparently this is all fairly old now, and the publicly released one will be... better?

Huh, interesting. Glad that Hasbro is finally doing more video games with the license - I wonder if this might take a more action-y, less faithful approached to the rules than Larian. (Which would be fine - makes sense to go with another flavour of game if you're going to let another company have a go.)
