It's not a new SWTOR game. It's new ME/DA games and current SWTOR. Only 2/3 right: "Do you want to be a part of the next Mass Effect, Dragon Age or Star Wars: The Old Republic games? Come work at BioWare!"
It specifically says "or Star Wars: The Old Republic" as one of those games.
I'd bet that just means working on the SWTOR expansions. Fringe case scenario (but, boy, do I want it) is that they will start a new SP game in the Old Republic era. After all, we got the KOTOR remake in the works, so it may be a similar project. Isn't it grand that EA lost the Star Wars license?

I think you are reading a lot into the combination of one word ("next") and the inclusion of SWTOR with two other announced games. Inelegant, poorly worded descriptions are par in these types of announcements (though not as much as reader inference/speculation).
Yes, they could have stated "next ME and Dragon Age. Or be a part of SWTOR team". But I doubt they'd bother. They'd want to cast a larger net with simpler, catchier phrasing.

After all, we got the KOTOR remake in the works, so it may be a similar project. Isn't it grand that EA lost the Star Wars license? Agree, on all counts.
But I'd stress the "fringe". Two of the job descriptions list have variations on "Familiarity with Star Wars: The Old Republic gameplay and level design." And on the wish for SP (which I share!) one specifically mentions "Knowledge of current MMORPG genre trends".

I began playing yesterday with my new Jedi Sentinel. Took a bit of getting used to, but I'm starting to feel increasingly comfortable. Combat is fun, abilities and upgrades make a noticeable difference.
Environment of the Jedi starting area is lush and pleasant to explore, and best of all it's not a 'themepark MMO', the kind that features pitched static battles between NPCs, and huge, clustered fast-respawning groups of enemies everywhere. I can explore at my own pace and the world feels quite natural and organic, which is great.
Voiced NPCs are obviously very welcome, I don't feel rushed, the story doesn't feel rushed either. It's all small scale local issues. I'm not the 'chosen one', I'm just a Padawan going about her business. Hope this doesn't change.
Not saturated with overpowered loot either, which is another bonus. It's given out pretty sparingly, and so each upgrade feels meaningful and important.
This morning I did something called a 'heroic area', featuring a bunch of droids in a cavern, the object of which was to recover parts from Sentinels in order to get an ancient computer working. Wasn't sure if I could handle it when I saw the name 'heroic area', and wondered if it was similar to a World of Warcraft instance, designed for groups, but it turned out to be something diiferent. It was pleasantly challenging, and I managed it alone with only one death due to carelessness.
In fact my only complaints so far is I wish there was some way of zooming in the main map, and, as in most MMOs I find the 'leapers' (other players who constantly jump and leap around the place like deranged idiots) distracting. No idea why but it always annoys me, guess I'm getting old.

I'm not the 'chosen one', I'm just a Padawan going about her business. Hope this doesn't change. You will over time become more of a "heroic" figure to people. But you will also be accomplishing more noteworthy deeds. So on that point it feels more like a natural outgrowth. Heroic areas are generally designed for groups. Or at least a party of two players. Still doable solo if you're careful. And on Tython, just having your companion with you should be enough.

So after leaving the Jedi starting planet I found myself in a spaceport and there was a mission for a Flashpoint. The Flashpoint had a story mode, so I thought 'fair enough', and launched it.
Everything went smoothly, ridiculously easy. I was accompanied by my Astromech droid T7 and another temporary droing, and it was impossible to die.
I got to the section where I was supposed to board an imperial ship, the Essless, or something like that..... fought my way through and the Big Bad Sith captain spoke to me on a holoscreen telling me his troops were arriving and there were a few surprises for me.
No kidding!
As soon as I passed that point my temp droid companion was gone, and the next group of Imperial soldiers I ran into kicked my ass so hard I was pretty much one shot killed, I could make no further progress as it was impossble to fight them.
So, clearly there's some kind of 'cut off point' for story mode flashpoints. They allow you to progress to a point in the story, and then the solo mode ends and you're in full-on non-soloable group mode.
Would be nice if they'd given me some kind of indication of this so I didn't waste all that time.

I wonder if you ran into some kind of glitch?

There are two spots on the Imperial ship (tunnels to enter commands room) where your companion and the temp droids might stop following you and you end-up facing multiple enemies all alone with nobody to heal you. Usually, I just enter a bit and dismiss/resummon my companion (set to healing).

I have the weirdest relationship with this game. I won't touch it for a couple years then I will play it almost obsessively for 2 months straight but always starting over from scratch and while trying to play all the class stories which means I have 8 characters I alternate between then I eventually burnout and repeat the same process a couple of years later when I get Star Wars hungry but never getting anywhere.

I started playing 13 years ago and still have my very first character, a Mirilian scoundrel healer named Janei.
I stop playing for a few month and then I continue, whatever I was playing.

Maybe this is just me because I am normally not an mmo player, but does anyone else get annoyed by other players that feel the need to jump into another players fights? There are plenty of mobs go find your own. They are almost as bad as the dudes that will steal a quest objective when you are dealing with the mob that was surrounding the objective and because of these selfish jackasses you have to wait for the objective to reset. Most of the time these guys are marauders (or sentinels) that think they have a force given right to rampage through everyone else's game because they are dual wielding lightsabers.

Well on the plus side with 7.0 any kills are shared as long as a hit is registered. Before if people hit first you'd be out of luck. But ya, I agree on the objective reset part for sure. Some of those can have ridiculous respawn timers

My personal favorite are the players who hang back, let me aggro the mob, and then rush in to loot the quest objective.

You understand that is a dick move right? No rules in love and quest objectives! You shouldn't need a rule to tell you not to be an inconsiderate dick. If someone is dealing with a mob to get to a quest objective you should let them finish up before moving in. You are rampaging through their game experience and negatively impacting their game.

So,just as I said - no rules 😂 How about this: them fighting a mob instead of just clicking the objective clearly means they don't care or already clicked it. It's negatively impacting my game to wait up and see which one is it. I always go and click, then fight if I have aggro. It's a very simple mechanic. Barely any objective requires you to not be in combat and they are usually in instanced areas anyway.

Do you you just cut to the front of the line at the grocery store, or grab someone else's food after they ordered it? The shit you pull would get your ass kicked in real life. Not to mention it hurts immersion when having to wait for a quest objective to reset because sone douchebag swooped in on the rancor (or whatever other ridiculous mount they picked, people should pick to a proper speeder or at least an appropriate animal), while I fought the mob guarding the objective. And no clicking on it before fighting the mob doesn't work because that hurts immersion.

THEY WERE THERE FIRST!! I was first to the objective, it's mine. End of story 😉 It ruins my immersion trying to wait other people to play the game according to their stupid ideas of immersion. And if I got a rancor, I'll rancor it if I like. You want to ruin my immersion RPing a Nightsister that was enslaved and trained as a Sith?
