Sorry, don't wanna hate on Storm players, but I'd like him better without a cape. I'm playing with 2 primers + weapons and only melee as detonator right now (might change depending on drops) and the cape looks kinda silly and would be more of an annoyance than help. Might be different if there was some special move like with the Batcape which temporarily can knock enemies back or stun them. I don't know... I want him to be more of a kung fu mage, so more combat oriented looks, less fancy cape stuff Hmm, I've been storming, and - not that my playstyle is the best or anything - you're selling the storm short if you're not causing mass group combo's, though. so a ranged detonator is a must for me. Although, I'f you're going more for the support style, then I'd see something like ice storm and shock burst being useful. To be honest my build is actually lacking the way it is right now because I can't detonate from further away. I would be equipping Ponder Infinity if I had a legendary one. The thing is: I have gotten Venomous Blaze with double suit-wide damage rolls and after that I got Hailstorm's Renewal with suit-wide damage and elemental damage rolls. So they are pretty nice and the only legendaries I have for that slot. In the other one I have a legendary Seal Of The Open Mind and I think it's the only legendary I have anyways and I like it. Would like to combine it with Ponder infinity for ultimate lightning mayhem + priming with weapons as well. I main Interceptor so I love action-orientied close combat gameplay and fortunately the Ranger is pretty good and versatile as well and right now I feel like I am either building a poor man's Ranger (because for what I intend to do the Ranger is better suited) or I have to wait and grind my way to a more passive Storm that is hovering above the battlefield most of the time - for which this Javelin is probably awesome, I just don't like playing like this very much.

Went into PTS to see what the latest update would bring. Some of the story elements that didn't make sense before … now they do … game play, the cinematics and discussions at the fort are now synced up. The seasonal store now works and has stuff in it to buy. After doing a few cataclysm events, went to the store and bought a weapon chest … got a cool weapon, with god roll inscriptions … took it out to free play to … play. Had a lot of fun with the weapon … sadly, for the Valkyries/Elementalists … they were not having so much fun. Got a melee weapon for my Interceptor … lame inscriptions but a blade with acid effects … so now melee primes and detonates(?) … kinda like that. In the cataclysm … Vara's cinematics are now further along … plus she now drops loot (she was supposed to before, but it's been bugged and not doing it … at least for me). Still didn't have anyone in my lobby for the cataclysm, so very limited as to which things I could get to and complete before time running short. The first puzzle … I think they've modified it so you can do it solo … can't say for some of the rest. In free play, the crystals you harvest (like the organic and mineral resources) now provide minor crystals … which are useful in the seasonal store … so you can earn monetary units for the new store outside of the cataclysm. It's still a work in progress … some placeholder stuff in the store. As far as I can tell, no difference in the loot system … just new stuff to buy in the seasonal store and potentially get as drops in the field. Most of the loot I got in drops was inferior to what I already had, in the amount of time I've played in PTS … so nothing new there. Just after I finished up a world event, my game got a CTD … so maybe I got some cool loot I don't know about yet … will check it out … maybe tomorrow. One note … earlier in the week, prior to the update, I got a lego in free play, was continuing to play, was in the middle of a new world event when I got a CTD … upon return to the game … no lego in the inventory … this might be specific to PTS and not a harbinger of the future for the base game … times when I've gotten a CTD or server disconnect, the loot was waiting for me when I got back into the game … not so in this instance. Bottom line … they are making progress with the cataclysm … but don't expect any changes to the loot system … this is added content, not a reinvention of the game's reward system.

Ah yeah, my first legendary storm gear was a hailstorm's renewal with +250% damage. Good in and of itself, but I had nothing else to use for a very long time, and was so sick of it I'll never give up my +200% lime ponder infinity, NEVER! It just doesn't get old to use glacial spear to freeze a group of close enemies, and scream "BEGONE!!" as ponder infinity's multiple combo detonation causes instant-kill area combo.

Actually a pretty good one and i always equip that. Update: the best one is the one that adds lightning damage to your combos. Combine that with the lightning strike’s mw property of increased lightning damage when hivering and...voila. So right now I'm using Shock Burst as my focus seal and Lightning Strike as the blast seal to facilitate a combo. You're telling me there's a Component that adds "more" lightning damage to what I already have????? I need to check the Storm list. Amulet of Winter: Storm Hitting an enemy with an ice attack gives you 20% increased weapon damage for 20 seconds. Mark of Wrath: Storm While your Focus Seal is on cooldown, the Blast Seal's damage is increased by 50%. Gunslinger's Mark: Storm Weak point damage dealt to enemies increases by 60%. (Currently turned off) Mark of Clarity: Storm Clearing a status effect heals you for 20% of your total health. Occurs once every 10 seconds. Token of the Master: Storm Dealing damage with a Focus Seal attack increases damage dealt by your Blast Seal by 60% for five seconds. Tome of Precision: Storm Killing an enemy via its weak spot with a sniper rifle increases your electrical damage by 60% for five seconds. I found this list but I have to believe there's more than 6. I wonder if the Storm can use other Javelin's components, that has to be the case, probably not all of them, but some. Out of those 6 it looks like Token of the Master would increase my blast seal by 60 pct for 5 sec's. Also, I didn't read my Tome of Precision carefully as it increases electrical damage by way of a sniper rifle. I need to be on the lookout for a good sniper. Don't have a MW version, yet.

Yesterday my Freelancer was in a bit of a smart-assed prankster mood. She entered the Tomb of Carriff and danced on his coffin. Luckily no one else was around to see her do it. She thought it would be funny, but then instantly regretted doing it afterwards.

Did some free play and LCs in TPS. The cataclysm themed world events add some variety to free play. Had two world events that evaporated while in the middle of doing them … that was a first … will put that in the feedback to BioWare.
Legendary Contracts (LCs) now have loot chests at the end … a welcome addition that aligns LCs with world events and Legendary Missions. I didn't play a regular contract to see if they also gained loot chests … but would not surprise me if they did. New bug … starting the LC, the strider is missing, you so spawn and land 30' up in the air, then, because you don't have a strider, you drop to the ground. Note: the previous two updates to the latest, didn't do any LCs … so loot chests may have been added sooner than what I realized … same with strider bug.
Also … a lot more activity and wildlife near the LC spawn point than before … seems more realistic and you have to fight your way (or simply fly over) critters right from the beginning. The LCs don't have any indications of the cataclysm … even if the mission isn't cataclysm related, I think there should at least be some crystal formations present … seems weird to have a sterile LC when free play isn't. I can understand Legendary Missions and Strongholds not reflecting the cataclysm … those are "historical artifacts" that predate the cataclysm event. But if free play acknowledges the real time presence of the cataclysm, the LCs should too.
In free play, some of the cataclysm world events … the major crystals have some issues … some are simply invulnerable, others, you can eliminate their "health" but the crystal does not collapse. You can still complete the objective … so a minor bug, but one they should get fixed before releasing the cataclysm to the base game.
The seasonal store had melee weapons for sale (it looks like the weapons/gear/support gear will cycle in the store … kinda like the UR weapons and characters in MEAMP's item store, but with more frequent rotation). Got a MW melee weapon for the Ranger … so of course, had to take it out to play. Had a lot of fun with it … shoot venom darts (MW version) at bad guys, then hit them with the mace of doom (my name for it) … 'sposions, splosions everywhere. Really look forward to the lego version with decent inscriptions … that will be fun. Now I really look forward to the MW (and lego) version of venom blades (again, my name for it) with the Interceptor.
Also … because I just had to, took the Colossus out to play, with the MW version of Battle Cry … proc gives a huge buff to melee, so when coupled with the other melee buffs … pretty cool. Also, the highlighting of which critters are in range to get their armor debuffed … that works now … Little Colossus Foo Foo, running through the forest, scooping up the field mice Dominion and bop them on the head.
Only have the epic version of the Storm's melee … it's useful for some things, but generally underpowered. Look forward to at least the MW version and the proc that goes with it.
It seems like more things have specific vulnerabilities and strengths than before … or perhaps exaggerated strengths and weakness. The Ranger's melee is virtually useless against crystals, while the Colossus and Storm seem to do OK. Interceptor is somewhere in between. Some weapons are particularly useless against the crystals, while others do a decent job. Priming the crystals also seems to help in some cases … but not so much in others. All of this may change before the cataclysm goes live … all of this may simply be an artifact of the devs tuning/balancing/adjusting things … so take this with a large crystal of salt.

force58: I think that list you got there is old. In the sense that there have been changes. For example you don't need to weak point kills with a sniper rifle for Tome Of Precision. And it increases elemental damage in general when it triggers. So that list isn't up to date. After being absent for a day to see the "guy who knows how to play colossus" I just played some games with my Storm and in the last run 2 legendaries dropped, one of it being Ponder Infinity with +200% charges. Just what I needed. Now I'm just missing 2 legendary components for the Storm and 1 for the Ranger to have both at 788 (again) with the equipment I want them to use (all could use better inscriptions though). Also my Storm is not totally invincible but pretty sturdy. Using Vanguard's Token that grants 40% damage protection for 10 seconds on shield break together with Softened Blows that grants 75% damage protection for 5 seconds under the same conditions I can get full invincibility for 5 seconds when the shield breaks. I wish Softened Blows would also last 10 seconds. Anyways... I'm often hovering around with very low health and a screen that looks like it and walk the line of my shield getting broken eventually, then being invincible and getting the shield back up again quickly so if I get hit again it can break again, I can be invincible again and so on. Funny...

Today I did some Freeplay on GM 1 with Lijenna. We took out several Scar bases, freed some Arcanists, fought an Ursix (and kicked its ass). What we did was fun, but we had to go looking for it.

Instead of equipping components which let me live longer, I use a component which lets me destroy faster, and just train to be better. Sure, I die once in a while in this case, but a school of hard knocks gives good results The only exception to this is emergency power, which is a safe button, and also provides more dakka in case of extra suckage on my part. PS: Jelly at the 200% ponder infinity charges, though. Also, I wonder how the eternal squall's priming masterwork ability will stand up against ponder infinity's awesome masterwork dakka ability (ponder infinity + the new volt casters = pwnage?)

Now, I haven't played in a long while....and I'm sure I am not the first Freelancer to dance on the tombs of our fore-bearers, but I really and truly don't remember. Though I am sure you did do it before me. "Copybunny".....That's funny I wonder if there is any way to change the graphic from a bunny to a grabbit (since this is an ANTHEM forum basically, well at least the main one is).... Hey, Sofa, Arcadia-- is there any way to change my Avatar graphic from a bunny to a grabbit (still keeping the drum)? I think that would be kinda funny.

I'm always held back from making builds aimed at failure. I mean no offense, but what I mean is, if I'm getting shot, well, that's my mistake for not killing fast enough or not looking around enough. Instead of equipping components which let me live longer, I use a component which lets me destroy faster, and just train to be better. Sure, I die once in a while in this case, but a school of hard knocks gives good results The only exception to this is emergency power, which is a safe button, and also provides more dakka in case of extra suckage on my part. I'm totally in the "kill everything before it kills you" team but that's not always possible. My Interceptor does the most damage but also dies the fastest. My Ranger is somewhere in the middle and the Storm kills the slowest but survives best. It might change with better drops and better inscriptions but right now it's were these 3 Javelins are at. Also I'm the most mobile with the Interceptor and the least with the Storm. Being able to basically hover at the entrance to Scelos in GM2 and staying there for the whole boss fight, taking volleys of rockets to the face allows me to constantly spam powers and/or shoot without too much worry about anything else. Also I try to build everything for GM3 solo. And in GM3 strongholds enemies simply don't die fast enough to rely mostly on damage without thinking about survivability. My Interceptor as well as my Ranger have ways to regen armor and/or shields with their components on hits or kills pretty easily. I don't have something like that for the Storm though. And some in GM3 some legendary class enemies simply won't die very quickly (hello Scar Enforcers...) and you also are the only target and draw all aggro. Also my Softened Blows has 25% global damage and I'm using it for all 3 Javelins right now because it doesn't only help with survivability but also with damage - more than the class components I could use instead at least. Emergency Power on the other hand... I've been trying to get a legendary one for so long. It's one of the few things that has never dropped for me as a legendary (and very rarely as Masterworks) and I thought I might use it when I get it. But I've been experimenting with the Masterworks version for a while now and this thing just is totally unrealiable in my opinion. It's not obvious a) under which conditions exactly it triggers and if it triggers at all (because you have no indicators for the 120 second cooldown) and I think it doesn't even work correctly to be honest. On top of that it can totally fuck up the timing of the Ultimate.

We've got a week to complete it … when I was in freeplay, it wasn't active … perhaps we'll get a tweet soon to tell us what's up.
Looks like PTS freeplay world events from the description of the challenges …
If not part of the two week lead up to the Cataclysm, at least an indication that we're getting close … maybe a 1 Aug release?

This was something in PTS earlier … I completed the challenge in PTS … in the second or third release.
Now the challenge is appearing in the base game, but the ability to complete it isn't there … don't think it's gone live yet.
You have over a week to complete it … maybe they will go live at the 7 day mark … don't know.
I expect something posted on twitter … which Hrungr will have posted in near-real-time … to let us know what's up.
So at this point, I don't think you've missed anything … the challenge is just spinning up … maybe tonight or tomorrow … TBD.
Check Hrungr's post in the Grabbit Den … looks like this was supposed to go live later … probably to kick off the Cataclysm's two week warm up.
It will probably disappear from the challenge menu now … to reappear when they are ready to kick things off for real.
Pulling this out of my backside … maybe they are planning to kick things off 15 Aug … and plugged the wrong month in the timer.

I really want my Electro-Storm to use the Thunderbolt of Yvenia and the lightning procs really do some amazing damage given the overall build. The problem is: it's so unreliable. You can actually go through a whole magazine without the lightning proc triggering even once. Or it can trigger a few shots in a row and chew through a legendary-type enemy in no time. I'm never a fan of "x% chance it might happen" in games because it's just too random. Would be so much better if the ToY worked liked other weapons of this kind (Divine Vengeance, Siege Breaker, Ralner's Blaze) and reliably proc if certain conditions are met - instead of being a lottery ticket in disguise.

Volt casters seem to be the answer, though. I haven't played on the test server and haven't looked at any of the new stuff. I'm not even that excited about new things to be honest as long is loot is where it's at. Because more items just mean even lesser chances to get what you are looking for. I don't even wanna think about having to get something for the new melee slot and grinding for that support gear item. That's 6 items alone for all my active Javelins and they all basically miss something right now - stuff that just won't drop. And I've had hundreds of legendary items. I don't even wanna know how frustrating this must be for people who haven't played so much (as will be the case with me soon as well when I will attend to more important matters). As for "Today in Anthem": I took my Interceptor into GM1 freeplay to grind ~400 Outlaw kills for the weekly faction challenge. Totally overpowered for GM1 of course - so I basically just used my Raneri's Charge to OHK an enemy, then charge into the next one (instant recharge after killing the enemy). So basically I just chained charge after charge. After that I just stayed in GM1 and played Sunken Cell and Heart Of Rage. It's really interesting to see how fast everything dies, even from just shooting them. Obviously it gets boring really fast but it was a good way to get the challenges done quickly.

I noticed while levelling up my last pilot, if you play the game on Hard or GM1 with just Epic equipment, maybe one MW, its a pretty good shooter, as opposed to the ability heavy game it turns into with all the extra MW abilities. That's the feeling I get when I'm playing GM2/GM3 solo with my Ranger. Even though I use the abilities and melee a lot it often feels much more like a good shooter. It reminds me a lot about the way I play action-focussed shooters like DOOM (or more recently: RAGE2) and I have to think much more about what I'm doing (next). It makes the game feel completely different at times opposed to playing with a full squad which is why I'm hoping they will change some of the privacy mechanics eventually so that we can play strongholds and legendary missions privately if we like. I totally want to see some kind of "New Game+" or have all the legendary missions available at all times so I can play through the whole game again solo on GM2 and GM3.
