Also, my kid's to be born in a months so I'm sure that'll keep me... occupied. Only until you train him/her to hold/use a controller They say it's faster than potty training. I'll do everything in my power to keep her from being a mobile gamer But hey, I haven't pooped without my phone in a decade either, so... those 2 kinda go together.

Sooooo… Icetide. Many emotions. I’ll try to be as coherent as possible. I was actually looking forward to icetide, I truly was. So, when information about it’s release (of course no sooner than when it’s actually updating…) was finally provided, I anxiously read it. And had to read it again. And a third time for good measure. I could not believe it. They’ve finally done it. They went around the office and looked for the guy with the biggest hands, and made him give us the biggest middle finger they could find. Probably hired professional jokers to laugh at us at the same time as well. What am I talking about? Well, apparently, legendary drops at GM3 are now all level 80. …I’m going to let that sink in for a moment… ready? Okay. Raged? No? I’ll explain. EVERYTHING YOU DID UP UNTIL NOW IS COMPLETELY POINTLESS. All those items you grinded so hard for, those perfect inscriptions. All the countless hardships you had to go through fighting the ridiculous RNG and finally coming out on top… yup, all for nothing. Because there is now an increase in level available and you can start aaaaalllllllllllllll over again. And before someone says: “UrHuRrrr tHaT’s hOw lOoT shOoTerS work”. No. No, you cretin. That’s not how they work if they respect their players. If they respected their players, they’d have made it possible to transfer your inscriptions or allow for a way to increase your current gear in level. Basically, anything to not make the last 11 months for goddamn nothing. My first reaction was to just ignore anthem now and wait for 2.0, but after sleeping on it… I no longer believe they can actually make systems that work for it’s player base because they don’t get it. If they don’t get that doing something like that invalidates all previous efforts. If they don’t get that grind for the sake of grind is disrespectful for their player base, I doubt they can ever make anything worthwhile out of 2.0.
Anyway, as far as the rest of the notes goes, it seems like some the bug fixes were pretty good (but nothing in terms of balance… really? Except the rainmaker nerf which is a good thing). The guardian tokens are… weird. And why? Nobody asked for that. Invent a god damn crafting system for legendaries, you nincompoops, instead of making us fly in-world to a hidden shrine ffs. Really? Fire the guy who came up with that. I’m dead serious. What’s the added value of having us pray to a shrine? That’s just stupid, and further proof that BIOWARE STILL DOESN’T UNDERSTAND THE FIRST THING ABOUT OPTIMISATION AND ADDED VALUE!! And this irks me to no end. The races I have no interest in. I mean if I were to continue playing I’d probably do them for shits ‘n giggles, but this just gives me Superman 64 flashbacks from the depths of my memories and takes me back to a place I don’t want to be. The vanity and stuff… I’ll be honest: that’s what I most regret not getting from the event by not playing it. But on the other hand: “Ah well”. I’ll live. Also, I went over the challenges in-game fast, and there doesn’t seem to be that much vanity to gain through challenges… So the thing they actually seemed to understand and did well in season of skulls… well, nope.
And then we come to the strongholds. Being fair as I am, I do try everything myself. Thus, I did one stronghold on gm3 and then another. By the end of the second stronghold I was SOOOOOO tired of it already. I mean, we’ve done this exact same thing 100’s of times already. They added some shiny balls to collect, or some blocks to place, oh and a bonus timer, sure. But nothing has changed to make strongholds actually any different. They didn’t even bother to change up the spawns. So yeah, I’m not about to grind out something I did 100’s of times before, battling the RNG all over again. The real joke is: my 75 stuff works perfectly fine. So all you’re really doing is double middle fingering your hardcore perfectionist grind crowd.
Now, in all fairness: to the people who just joined anthem during black Friday: this is probably a good change. But to all the faithfuls, it is anything but. So it might be that they’re catering solely to new people until 2.0 is out. We’ll see. But honestly shit like this made me question whether bioware still has the steermanship to pull it off.
So in conclusion, I think I’ll skip icetide. No worth my time as a long time player. And besides, why would I waste time trying to get my current stuff to 80, when maybe next event they’ll add a new grind to 85, and I’ll have to start from scratch all over again?
Instead, I did get MHW iceborne for black Friday, and I am enjoying that one immensely. That is how a recurring loot system should be done and actually works.

Not hating to be the cretin so... “UrHuRrrr tHaT’s hOw skeleton crew/lazy ass lOoT shOoTerS/SWTOR work” So they just increase the item level cap and send you to grind the slightly retouched old content? Gee, I wonder if someone could predict that...like around April this year...oh, wait.
I guess we should be glad they try to keep the game floating until it's first year is up. Maybe the new formula for Anthem 2.0 (fingers crossed) will be like Destiny - paid DLCs. Can't imagine that going wrong.

... emotions are strong with this patch/upddate/whatever will check out Bastion later today after work to make up my own mind and see what kind of emotions flow through me then but honestly - re-designed/skinned SHs or whatever that themed-seasonal SH means are still better than Cataclysm 3.0 - this time: instead of dementors we have flying Santas and have to throw snowballs at Varra

4 crashes.. Somethings not right I guess we'll get a new patch soonish. Anyway, freeplay bastion is so beautiful I cannot fathom, especially when the light shafts and "morning" "sun" rises, and the snow Back to it.

Had two crashes transitioning from the terraces through the south gap in the mountains … both times as I was heading east. Going the other way, west, expected a crash that didn't happen.
Also a crash in the Korox shallows, lighting one of the wreaths … the crash happened as I was flying away, but it doesn't appear I got credit for the wreath … or just another example of FBs crappy accounting system. If I go back and find the wreath lit, I'll know the accounting system is going to require me to jump to my #1 pilot to complete the challenge (I'm running my #2 pilot for now, to get him leveled up).
Because of the bugs that crop up after a patch, I've made it my standard to do a game repair after every update. That way, when I report the problem and they suggest a game repair, I can say, been there, done that, doesn't fix the problem. Just so we can move past that deflection and maybe take the bug issue more seriously.
Icetide is beautiful. Don't mind the stronghold theme for many of the challenges … I never fell into farming strongholds, so it's not much of a change for me and won't be the time sink that the cats become after the fifth event opens up. The new gear, support gear and melee weapons show up at MW levels for loot drops … not just Hershel's store. Have not seen any legos yet, but I had very limited time to play last night, so not definitive. Also, based on the limited sample size, won't discount the possibilities of cat-era lego weapons dropping in the wild.
I actually like the 80 level legos on GM3 … to me, it provides rewards to the player for going with GM3 … otherwise, why not just stick with GM2? Which is apparently what's done by much of the player base, since it is quite a bit easier to find a (pre-Icetide) match on GM2 than GM3. Typically I'd do a random mission search in GM3, drop back to GM2 if it failed … did that a bit for strongholds … but didn't have as much success there.
Edit add: confirmed, did not get credit for the wreath near the Korox shallows, but upon return, wreath was illuminated and can't get credit for it. BioWare … pls.

Got 2 lvl 80 legendaries from GM2 freeplay. Upgraded some of the older weapons away and also duplicates. 916 Sky God now! Woo! The races are very nice but the crashes for us were happening during the two races, one random and one at Ice Flower event. Races are quite fun but the longer ones require multiple runs through to get proper flying happening, and not just oh lemme drop down as I overheated.. I now ran 2 ice flower events with one player, two other seem to be racing. I do wish there could be more players per server & map Maybe in 2.0 Guide for HoR@IceTide vulkk.com/2019/12/12/anthem-icetide-heart-of-rage-guide/

Is this (Ice Tide) Event worth playing or is it more of the same? (because what I actually want is a continuation of the STORY, y'know, the supposed Urgoth Invasion that Tassyn warned us about...??? C'mon, Bioware!)

This morning, 4 LG's drop and they're good. What. Did GM2 HoR with a friend + 2 PUGs and just acted as artillery again, didnt have time to check the video - straight into the game. Well it paid off, got to top of the score so to say and those LG's from fast kills. Friends client crashed 5 times in freeplay - mine zero today. Good drops for so short gametime (1h10min).

I'm mad about the level 80 stuff as well. I've spent 1200 hours with this game and have some stuff that only dropped once (like a Cryo Glaive or a Venom Spray with 4 charges) in all that times and some other rare stuff as well. I never understood the level 80 shenanigans to begin with... why make new stuff +5 in gearscore. It will only lead to frustration - at least as long as some calculations are tied to the overall powerlevel. And instead of now just changing all that you already have to 80 (or the other stuff back down to 75, which is totally fine), they come up with this shit. It feels like ME:A all over again when they suddenly dropped 3 additional variations of existing ultra-rare weapons.
I really wish they finally hired some people who know more about how to make good loot shooters work because apparently the people in charge can't figure that out and not talking to the community doesn't help either. On top of that apparently the Heart Of Rage is broken. I don't mind it for easy credits but it just shows they don't properly test things or don't mind that stuff is broken. They still haven't fixed the Vault by the way and on top of that the game now constantly crashes in Freeplay for a lot of players.
The only good thing so far I can see is that the stuff that was formerly only obtainable via war chests now also drops regularly. Got myself some Deathstalker Blades with 225%+100% damage now which is an upgrade over what I had before.

Again with my other swedish friend, rampaged on GM3 HoR. Got the Golden Grabbit - super hard to kill. Anyway, quite the run of the mill run until the next one, where I crashed in the beginning and after that, I was desynced from the rest of the team, getting killed by invisible hits etc. That wasnt too fun, but got lvl 80 Token of the master and some new replacements. Excellent.

How is the Heart of Rage broken? I've played the Icetide version serveral times, and it seems ok. You can fly past/above the first barrier. The whole level afterwards is empty so you can just fly thorugh it, collect the golden orbs for a better multiplier and only then start killing enemies and collecting points. It's basically we and pretty much all the other players in the top spots get to over 15 million in score... like I said: I don't mind the crystals but it just shows how poorly tested this was. Again...

So in Anthem...: Am starting to get into the meat of the game now that I am done with Breakpoint and my patch...presumably for Icetide...has downloaded. I don't think I am that far into it and really just getting into the campaign and getting used to all the new systems. So far...and I know I say this with the benefit of probably a lot of patching, but this game does not warrant the hate it gets. However, it also seems surprisingly...punchless? From a BioWare title? So far not a lot seems to be going on in terms of philosophical depth or interesting story elements. But it is a fun game...pretty empty...but fun. So the gun play seems pretty good and solid so far if a bit bright and flashy for my tastes but still...has its moments. The mutltiplayer elements haven't been too intrusive, I mean I think I got paired with someone who actually did the mission I was doing earier so that was fun...and I am surprised at just how many RP...instances?...there are. I really do not want BioWare to adopt this system fully for DA 4 or anything, but its servicable...I guess the lesson is as long as I can be a sarcastic little shit I'm fine. I think Icetide going on right now is surprisingly descent. I mean I think its making Bastion look all...snowy and dead...which isn't cool...and then it was fun because I was walking down a hall in Fort Tarsis when all of a sudden christmas music just boomed out...but it is still fun. I think I ran into a Dominion Valkyrie out during Freeplay while I was doing it.... Which speaking of which I just met the Monitor and found out the Dominion is indeed back. Can BioWare be sued for copyright infringement with that name though? Also the Dominion's leader being called 'the Monitor' led to a funny moment with me and my wife since we just caught up on Crisis on Infinite Earths.

It doesn't deserve that critique now, but it did indeed deserve it back in the day, befor enearly a year of patches. Anyway, the story of Act 1 isn't bioware's most special or anything. The characters are good, though. The story does get slightly better towards the end. But... you'll see. Also, sad that you can't get the cataclysm story, because that was a very good epilogue of Act 1. Yes, the gameplay itself is pretty solid. In any case: glad you're enjoying it!

Anyway, the story of Act 1 isn't bioware's most special or anything. The characters are good, though. The story does get slightly better towards the end. But... you'll see. I think the amount of story and conversations is barely close to what KOTOR had on Taris up to the Outcast village or so. It is serviceable as a Prologue, but feels flat right now with no updates in sight. The whole story just never picks up even if it seems it will on several occasions. Even with the time wasting fillers it can be done in 10-12 hours, most of them being flying from A to B. It's best to do it solo, because other players may rush and interrupt conversations with "catch up loading screen" or finish encounters before you reach them. Some great artwork, cutscenes and voice acting though. Would have been great if it was a SP RPG. Still think Bioware should do a spin off like "Adventures of Sentinel Dax" or "Crimson Lancer" Honestly, the radio shows had more interesting plot than the game (it helps that Cassandra moans like every line)
