ANTHEM VIP Demo | Day 2 Updateanswers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/ANTHEM-VIP-Demo-Day-2-Update/m-p/7377294/highlight/true#M11371We are continuing to track current issues for the Anthem VIP Demo and the team is working very diligently to quickly resolve them. Here's the current list of the most reported and known issues affecting some players: 1. Rubber-banding during free roam and/or missions. 2. Second javelin not unlocking when reaching level 12. 3. An infinite loading screen when launching the game or entering an expedition. 4. Inability to get past the Anthem title screen. 5. Inability to access their Anthem VIP demo friends codes. Resolved or Improved: Some Xbox One players are unable to access the Anthem VIP demo. We will continue to update this thread with new information as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience.

I'm in on XBox and the only problem is the infinite loading screen every time I leave Fort Tarsis. A reboot of the game puts me outside where I need to be, but it's annoying.

I'm in on XBox and the only problem is the infinite loading screen every time I leave Fort Tarsis. A reboot of the game puts me outside where I need to be, but it's annoying. I'm on PC, but that is my biggest issue as well. xrayspex, 3y3vr3, wittyrover and I played for quite a long time. Unfortunately, on our first "raid" (after we completed the story missions), we got the infinite load on the final boss - this was after we all wiped during that last battle. I was surprised at how much fun I ended up having, since I was very unsure I would like the game. My complaints that are not bug related are: weird floaty camera feel in Fort Tarsis (not good with FPV), flight control is slippery but I am improving (need to fine tune the setting and "git gud" ), and swimming can piss off!

Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrahIf you had issues GETTING your code off of the Demo webpage, try now. 250,000 more people should work. Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrahWell that doesn't seem to have worked at all. What does this mean? He's being funny and 250k were gone in a flash? Or the code site went down again?

I've had no access at all. Maybe by next week they will get their act together. Sorry about your bad luck. I have at least been able to play ... Freeplay only though. I have not been able to connect to the first mission yet. I am keeping tabs of my demo saga in my sig. I see that
So when you can't log in, what does it look like? Same as mine? I get a connection error, and soe test saying I don't hve access to the VIP demo, as soon as the game starts up and gets to the sigh=nin screen.

Anthem VIP Demo: an update from BioWare’s Head of Live Serviceblog.bioware.com/2019/01/26/anthem-vip-demo-update/by Author - Chad RobertsonPosted on - January 26, 2019 BioWare's Head of Live Service Yesterday was rocky. The first day of our VIP demo weekend did not go exactly as we planned, and I want to share what happened. We’ve been testing the entire game and platform for several months, but there were a few things we missed; real-world play frequently leads to unexpected issues. Before I share details on this and what we’re still facing, I want to dispel one comment we’ve seen: that we under-planned for server capacity. To ensure stability, we intended to manage our servers to match the player population as it grew. Overall, we had excess capacity prepared for population increases, and continue to do so. That said, what’s important is that all parts of the game work as designed to meet players’ needs, and that did not happen in the opening hours. While there are a number of issues we dealt with yesterday, the three primary areas were: 1. Platform connections – this was caused by the spike in players entering the game when we opened up. Unfortunately, these issues did not present themselves during our internal testing. Investigations are ongoing, and we will continue to apply fixes throughout the weekend. 2. Entitlements – these are account flags that grant players things like their pre-order incentives and demo access. During the demo weekend, we identified a bug where VIP players with a specific combination of entitlements were being blocked from accessing the demo. We believe we’ve resolved most of these, but have additional cases we are addressing. 3. “Infinite loads” – this is occurring for some players, particularly when they transition from Fort Tarsis to an expedition. We saw this only in isolated cases during internal testing and believed it was resolved. Unfortunately, the problem is exacerbated in the real-world where differences with player’s ISPs and home networks introduce new behavior. Today, our top priorities are: 1. Continue to resolve any reports of issues with login and entitlement problems. 2. Implement fixes to address “infinite loads”. I want to be upfront that this is a difficult one, and something we may not resolve during this weekend — many players are not seeing this issue and the last thing we want to do is destabilize the experience for everyone. 3. Improve server performance. We’ve heard reports of rubber-banding and other signs of server latency. We believe we can address this and will be conducting some small-scale experiments to confirm that. We may roll some fixes out this weekend or may wait for the open demo next weekend, depending on the level of risk to the overall service. While we have had problems, we have also had many players enjoying the game. It’s been incredibly humbling to see so many people watching along with us on Twitch (over 300K concurrent viewers yesterday & over 100M minutes watched — those are Fortnite-type numbers!). Thank you for your support! Our goal is to get everyone into the demo having fun together. We appreciate everyone’s patience and sincerely apologize for those who have had issues getting into the game. As a token of appreciation for your enthusiasm and any issues you encountered, we’re giving everyone who participated in the VIP demo weekend an additional new vinyl at launch. We believe we’ve created an amazing game and we’re doing everything we can to ensure our entire community can enjoy it. We’re committed to keeping an open conversation with our community as part of our Live Service well into the future. (We’ll also have some cool news to share soon on our plans for the game after we launch — stay tuned!) If you’re still having problems, please reach out to Answer HQ. Dedicated members of our community and customer support teams are here to assist you. Anything they can’t handle gets reported to BioWare’s development team. Stronger Together! Chad

That's exactly the issue I have although I obviously have access as when I clicked on my friend invite it said I have access and generated three friend invites for me to give away. But when I open the game and it says connecting to online services same as you it then tells me I don't have access.

Demo server issues aside, Anthem is not a very good game. There's nothing in it that's particularly unique, combos and supers are kinda cool, but the javelins are all too similar, there's a lot of load screens, the flying is little more than a pretty travel mechanic, the weapons are still just guns, and interactions with npcs is limited to two seemingly inconsequential responses. Also, rpg? There's no hint of character creation or progression, maybe that's in the full game, along with a story line, but I doubt it.
I cancelled my pre order. If the game somehow picks up rave reviews a couple of months in, maybe I'll grab it, but no way will I give EA pre order cash after being treated like a (VIP lol) guinea pig.
I'm genuinely sad having waited so long for what should be a very special game.

It's a little disheartening to see that they seem unsure of the issue that is causing the 95% bug. This is by far the biggest issue with Anthem. Surprised to see that they say that only "some people" are experiencing this problem. EVERYONE in our party experienced it at one time or another. EVERYTIME we finished a mission and it quickly and jarringly loads you back to FT (wait I am still looting!), someone in our party would have to restart the game due to the 95% bug.
My guess is those that didn't ever see the issue may have been just playing solo. Since we don't know how matchmaking works, the issue may be compounded when you are in a group. It echos issues with NAT type, but then again everyone was connected and playing which would indicate that the appropriate ports were opened via uPnP, so the connectivity was already successfully established.
I don't like the way it feels to traverse Fort Tarsis. The first person view/control is so weird and floaty and you know the only reason FT is first person is because Bioware doesn't want to mess with a character creator (oh no! we gotta do hair!) and they don't want to bother with animations of your avatar.
I do find the game quite fun. The beta finally showed us how progression works, and it feels good to get new gear and try different combinations. Still not sold on it being very "Bioware-ie" in the end.
Also, drowning in the dark because swimming with M/K is a nightmare is not fun.

Well, this is why anecdote is the least form of evidence. Not saying that there may not be an issue with the way they see bugs or measure it from reports, but they do see more than we do. And, apparently, they do seem to be sure what is causing the bug - I think they're just unsure how to handle it *now*, given that it's (per Mark Darrah) on a client side and fixing that requires a patch. Remains to be seen how it will be handled in next week's demo I guess...
They *do* animate everything besides our head, which we don't see. The body is still there when we traverse Ft. Tarsis and we see our PCs limbs, with the character being actively engaged in cutscenes. Plus, all the animation (and the hair) is there as well, as all the NPCs are using them.

It echos issues with NAT type, but then again everyone was connected and playing which would indicate that the appropriate ports were opened via uPnP, so the connectivity was already successfully established.
I don't count the FPV limbs the same as animating a model meant to be viewed from third person. A lot more work goes into that and clearly Bioware didn't want to bother with a CC. And come on, 85% of the NPCs have hats on because let's face it, Bioware doesn't do hair well beside shaved crewcuts and bald.

I don't have much luck avoiding the infinite loading screen (see sig for stats) but I seem to have more of a chance if I keep settings to public. So far I have not yet been able to get a mission past infinite loading screen set to private. Not one time.
Out of all my attempts at trying to get into a Story mission or critical path mission (something other than freeplay) I have only succeeded once. I have had much better luck getting into freeplay.
I am going to test something here in a bit though and I will report if it works or not.
My theory is that I can start an expedition set to private, let the game start loading but don't even wait for it to hang before closing the application. Then I will try to RESUME and I am hoping it will maybe let me into the mission. I am probably just giving myself false hope but it's worth a shot.
From everything I have read all around the internet the infinite loading bug is a lot worse than just 'some' people. I just don't think they want to publicly admit how often it is happening.
I don't know why they didn't just do a much larger beta and skip all this VIP Demo garbage. We aren't VIP, we're the suckers who shelled out cash to be the first real large scale beta test.

Giving a full character a walk/run cycle ain't any more difficult than giving it in FPV and crafting cutscenes in FPV like the ones we saw ain't easier. As for the animations other than walking/running... that argument would have worked if we didn't see NPCs animated all around the place, nevermind the knowledge that they HAVE walk/run/jump/whatever animation assets in Frostbite even from their past FB game (DAI and MEA). It's hard to accuse them of not wanting to bother with something when it's the FPV animations they've had to make from scratch, rather than TPV. Also - silly hats have been a Bioware tradition for a while now, lol. Plus, usually we didn't get much more hairstyles beyond what we see on NPC and we do see NPCs sporting different hairstyles.

I just got in. Maybe try it again Will do, thanks for letting me know. Well got in - yay. I still suck at flying even after doing the Alpha testing, playing solo ATM to hide my embarrassment. Anyone have trouble with the 2nd phase of the mission for Matthias? I had to quit it as enemy just kept respawning no matter how many I killed, opening salvo take down 5 of 10 and suddenly there are ten again. After 20 minutes I had enough and don't get me started on those stupid dog things. Also it seems like enemies are able to throw grenades round corners. Oh well back for a 2nd attempt at it on "public", gonna try really hard not to crash into too much stuff.
