My Warden has never married Anora. In my current playthrough I want him to marry her and make Leliana his mistress. I was wondering if I let Alistair duel Loghain will she try to have us executed? Or do I let Loghain live and have a happy wife?

You can execute Loghain, leave Alistair a warden and marry Anora. Just speak about your intentions with Eamon, Anora and Alistair, then have Alistair duel Loghain.

I thought Alistair always becomes solo king if he actually duels Loghain. But if after you duel him you let Alistair execute Loghain, you still get to decide who rules, and Anora is still willing to marry you because you didn't execute her father yourself. I haven't taken this route though so I'm not sure for certain.

Unhardened you can tell him that you plan on letting him be a Warden and marry Anora, tell Eamon to shove it, tell Anora that you are planning to spare Loghain ( so that she doesn't betray you), choose Alistair as your champion (automatic execution), and then declare yourself Prince-Consort to Anora. Alistair will even than you for killing Loghain and letting him be a Warden. Eamon will be sad (who cares), but other than that... everyone's happy.

So it matters more whether Alistair is hardened or not. Interesting, I didn't realize a hardened Alistair would take that agency from you if you decide to let Loghain live and didn't already arrange a marriage between him and Anora.

And thank you Julian for the detailed explanation.
