Similar to how people have their headcanons for their Varric nickname, I’m curious what other people imagine the Nightmare would say to their Inquisitor, and whether or not the party would react. For Keldar “Crafty” Lavellan: “How long, do you think, before your friends forget you even existed, Len'alas Lath'din? They will abandon you; SHE will abandon you when your use is spent. Just like everyone else. Not even your clan will welcome you back.” Keldar: “We’ll see who’s forgotten this day, Har da’enfenim.” Translation: Len'alas Lath'din= Dirty child no one loves/Har da’enfenim= Little fear demon Note the “she” referred to in Keldar’s case is romanced Cassandra (and what he says to her is especially biting if so), but can refer to any romance option. Bonus round for Wardens and Champions For Lucas Cousland: “’Hero,’ they call you. What insipid nonsense. If they knew how many you’ve failed, how many you’ve left behind, how much blood stains your hands. Then no one would exalt you, Commander. You’d be properly reviled for the monster you are.” Lucas: “I will take solace in the lives I HAVEN’T failed, you overgrown sprite.” Update: An older thread also addresses this topic, and there's more to see there. My apologies for the accidental Necromancy (DORIAN MADE ME DO IT). bsn.boards.net/thread/1906/nightmare-say-inquisitor

Ah what an interesting idea! I've always thought the Nightmare's taunts of the Inquisitor were a bit short and brief though I understood why. There's no way for the game to know what you've decided your character fears the most.
So let's see... for Olivia Trevelyan, my rift mage who romanced Cullen...
Nightmare: "Oh my, such a heavy burden being carried on such slender shoulders. The fate of the entire world depending on the actions of one little mage girl. Do I even need to say it? That you'll fail and the pitiful remnants of your people will curse your name for all time to come. And even if you somehow do win, do you think they'll thank you? Or will they return you and your kind to your cages. Will that even bother you, given you seek comfort in the arms of a Templar..."
Olivia: "Shut up you parasite! You have no idea of the power hope and faith have."
In honesty Nightmare pretty much nailed the fears of my Hawke. Natasha Hawke, spirit healer and force mage. There's not much I can add to it at this point, though if she'd encountered it during the events of DA2-especially after the Deep Roads there would have been plenty especially given Carver was a Templar.
As for my Warden, hmm.
Nightmare: "Ah, little Eliza Surana. The Grey Warden mage who battled the Blight backed only by a whiny manchild and a band of misfits. The "Hero of Ferelden" who drove back the Blight. But did you win freedom for your people? Wait, who are your people eh Eliza? Do you consider yourself a mage, using your Elvhven magic to benefit humans? Or do you consider yourself an elf?" *Laughs.* "Does it matter? You didn't make a difference to either. The mages fought their uprising without you and the Elves are still slaves or trapped in alienages. You preserved the status-quo despite your powers. What does that say about you?"
Eliza: Shut up before I use my "Elvhen magic" on you!
I'll have to think about the fears of my other non-canon Inquisitors though. Might post some more later.

A very interesting idea. Let's see... For my Inquisitor Maelyn Trevelyan: Nightmare: "Oh, the ambition. May I call it imperial ambition? You know it'll come all crashing down at the moment when you think you've won, right? Because that's what always happens to you. What a quaint conceit, to think you can break fate's pattern and stand with your puny will against the Maker's." Maelyn Trevelyan (grimly): "I'll be content to stand against your's for now." For my Warden Eorlin Amell (who might actually have met the Nightmare in different circumstances): Nightmare: "So, you think you'll be able to understand the world one day? What will your friends say, and Thedas at large, when they realize how close their champion of mage freedom is to the Tevinter mages of old? At least that's how *they* will see it, won't they? Of course they will. Knowledge is power after all. And how will you know they aren't right..." Warden Eorlin Amell: *shrugs*.

I had this exact same idea for a thread over two years ago, so I went back and found what I wrote for my Inquisitor. "The rebellion will fail, Maxwell. You will be back in the Circle, the Templars stronger than ever, with you completely at their mercy. (Nightmare takes a mock comforting tone) But do not worry. Perhaps this time they will fulfill their promise to make you tranquil. You won't care what they do to you then. You won't care about anything ever again."

Didn't mean to steal your idea. Need me to update the op to link back?

I thought you'd like to see what other people came up with back then.

Nightmare: "It was necessary". "I did what I could". Lies you told your friends and even yourself, because you didn't want to face the obvious truth.
You let that boy die, because you'd rather stain your honor with his blood than with blood magic.
What good was this false honor of yours?
Warden Mahariel: You should be more concerned about your present than my past, demon.
Nightmare: You cared nothing for those women, did you? Each time you were asked to investigate their murders, you wished to have a drink instead of being bothered with other people's problems.
Ah... but then it became YOUR problem. What killed her wasn't a madman's obsession, but a son's selfishness.
Hawke: I'm sorry, could you start again? My mind tends to wander during boring sermons.
