Agreed (on the builder stuff - it makes way more sense). I'm actually struggling to think of a change made between 5 & 6 that I didn't like, myself. It has been a long time since I played V, though. Although, I do miss the "statistics" report...where you could see how many people lived in your civ and other things as well. That was a nice little touch, though it made no difference to the game. I think I actually prefer the World Congress from Civ 5, am not a big fan of the system in Civ 6 or the types of proposals that typically come up. I didn't initially like the new design or visual style, but I eventually got used to it. See, this is what I mean - it has been so long, I'd forgotten that was a thing in Civ5. And yep - good call. I haven't played 6 again since I had two crashes in one day (after the release of the newest Civ packs). Apparently the June update is today or tomorrow, so maybe that'll fix whatever was borked by the DLC.

I had some freezing issues after the latest patch on PS4, but they're infrequent enough that they weren't prohibitive. Hopefully they fix whatever that's about in the new patch though, because it really is a fantastic game, best game in the series imo (even if there's a few things I preferred about 5- overall or on average, 6 is a big step forward).

Yep, on PC. And I agree - 6 is the best so far, based on my memory of the others. 2 being the worst (those stupid live action video advisors ). 1 will always have a place in my heart, though. The freezing wasn't happening "all the time" or anything like that, it was just that I'd been playing for so long without even a hint of a problem, then the DLC related update came and all of a sudden every session was affected. I'd always got a couple of hours in before it happened, but it was just annoying.

The only good part about them was when the game ran out of recorded audio, and just showed them standing there staring at the camera, with their advice provided in text form.

Mad respect for people who play these kind of games on consoles. The thought of it alone makes me wake up in the middle of the night, profusely sweating and screaming for my mommy.

DO NOT SPEAK EVIL’S NAME!!! What's wrong with Civ 2? Irs probably my favorite game of the series though Civ 4 is probably in a neck and neck tie with it.

Ah, you preferred Call to Power? Never heard of her. Civ-Noob. Activision had dibs on Civilisation. Some brand dispute emerged. And Activision released Civilisation Call to Power and then Call to Power 2 after Firaxis had regained control of the brand. CtP had a space layer, which was nice - sattelites, space marines, and all the space thingens.

Or am I thinking of something else?

Was really into blizzard games back in the day, and they had TONS of goofiness and jokes (especially Warcraft 2, but even Diablo had a bunch of it despite obviously being a darker/grimmer atmosphere or tone)

The thought of it alone makes me wake up in the middle of the night, profusely sweating and screaming for my mommy. heh, yeah, it wasn't by choice, trust me- my crappy old PC can't handle Civ 6. It could barely run Civ 5. I'm glad Civ 6 came out for ps4 else I wouldn't be able to play it, but there's no question its way more awkward and unwieldy on console. Still addictive as hell, though.

playing Maori for the first time right now, he's insanely unique and fun with all his special mechanics and unusual bonuses (e.g. maori being present in a match causes the game to allocate starting spots as if there were one fewer civ in the game, for instance).
I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get the win since I was sort of indecisive over whether I was going to go for religious victory or cultural (and so may come up short on either/both), but at least I'm getting the hang of his playstyle- will definitely be trying him again in the near future. May have a new favorite civ on my hands here, and highly recommended to anyone who hasn't tried him yet.

A lot of fun, navigating the seas from the start of the game. I didn’t have any firm ideas about what Victory I was going for, but ended up accidentally getting a Diplomatic Victory

I was the first to circumvent the globe... in the ancient era, with my first Scout! also makes golden ages really easy to get since most of those "first Civ to..." historic moments give +5 era score. I just love how all his unique abilities and strengths work together, just a really well-designed civ (if a bit OP)

Rolling from one Golden Age to the next is pretty OP, but to really get the system twisted, you need to go from Dark Age to Golden Age, and then it becomes a Heroic Age, and you get 3 dedications.

Rolling from one Golden Age to the next is pretty OP, but to really get the system twisted, you need to go from Dark Age to Golden Age, and then it becomes a Heroic Age, and you get 3 dedications. yeah and especially if you can get the classical dark age there isn't much of a downside, since AI cities are usually too far away and the population too small to have major loyalty problems at that point, unless you were really aggressive about forward settling (and the Dark Age policy card boosting domestic trade routes is fantastic for developing your cities since you don't have access to Alliances or the policy card boosting Allied trade routes for a while yet). Hard to get the classical dark age reliably though, especially for someone like Maori who just racks up those early game historic moments. The first time I had it happen (purely by accident, as I didn't even know that there was such a thing as a Heroic Age) was with Germany and the timing of it just worked out perfectly since he excels in the mid-late game once you've got all your Hansas + Commercial hubs down, and boom! Heroic Age + crazy Hansa production = steamrolling the entire f'ing map like it was nothing

So Russia with new Work Ethic + Dance of the Aurora is absolutely stupidly broken... and awesome. Had an empire of tiny little population 3-4 cities in tundra that all had +10 or so Holy Site bonuses -> insane production. Would have had a t150 or so Religious Victory except the last Civ was in a terrible location behind a bunch of mountains and so it took forever just getting my Apostles/Missionaries within their borders.
I expect there's a nerf coming, so get in a few games with Peter while its still absurdly OP.
