Dorian confirmed that there really isn't enough lyrium left for the templars. But mostly, I don't think most Magisters want anyone who can actually threaten mages. Okay. I imagined a surplus, given their ability to throw slave lives at the mining and refinement of it, where the Chantry had to rely on importation from Orzammar and tranquil labor. Tevinter don't mine lyrium themselves - they buy it from Orzammar like every other human kingdom. That's why the Ambassadoria has so much power there. (Other than the dwarves, the Qunari are the only ones who have figured out how to mine it without dying, and nobody knew that until Trespasser.)

That would be a magekiller. They don’t really have special Lyrium powers like Templars, but instead they have been specially trained to hunt mages. Marius is an example. It's been a while since I read the comic, but I don't recall anything in it about the "special" training Marius might have received to become a magekiller (other than stating, "he's had special training." And since the methods they used to take out the Archon's targets seemed to be pretty conventional (ie non-magical) I'm not sure why or how that training was even necessary?

Noxluxe - to add to what people already said in regard to templars in tevinter, it is also notewhorty to mention that they don't have templar abilities either.

It`s too soon to decide, i only know that my first character will be a female human as always and she`ll probably be a mage since that`s my favorite class to play.

My First character will be what it always is: A self-insert Male Human Mage.
After that: I've ideas for: Ambassadoria Dwarf, Orlesian Adventurer Rogue, Tevinter Mage, Tal-Vashoth something-or-other.
With my canon now having one of each class in DA:O, DA2, and DA:I, the rotation starts over again here; it could end up as any of the three classes; though I'm leaning more towards Rogue or Mage.

I haven't set anything in stone yet, but mine will likely be a female mage. Possibly human, but if better qunari hairstyles are a thing, I'm so choosing that race instead. Other than that, I'll try to go for a less idealistic personality, but this is Tevinter so that shouldn't be hard to justify.

Okay, now I'm totally decided on a gruff and pragmatic Orzammar, Kal-Sharok or surfacer dwarf with a hand in the Tevinter lyrium trade and no particular taste for women of other species. Dual dagger rogue, if it isn't too ninja in DA4. Warrior if it is, because I will not play a damned ninja in a western medieval RPG. I've always wanted to play a big burly - body proportion-wise - character wielding one or more daggers. They obviously only work at very short range, and fighting someone point-blank is much easier if you can overpower them physically, turning it into a wrestling match more than a fencing one. And very few things are more scary than someone capable of jamming a knife right through your spine before you ever know they're there. Also, seems to me that playing a race with magic resistance might come in handy. Just a feeling.

Hard to say so early but based on events of inquisition and if they carry on with the inquisition's race and class reactivity: an elven mage should be interesting.

My Knight-Enchanter Inquisitor would be my first preference. Otherwise, I can't really make any decision at the moment. Only thing I know for certain is that the character will be female, yet again. Other than that, it really depends on the setup of the game.

Yeah my first characters in each of the DA's were mages I don't see any reason to change that as mage is the clas I have most fun with too. Plus playing a character that can light an enemies hair on fire just by thinking about it has got a way of appealing to me. If of course the protag is the Inquisitor again then it'll probably be whatever quizzy I have active at that time. Because right now I don't know what that will be yet as that'll depend on how many more playthroughs and things I end up doing of DAI before hand.

I normally play my own gender, female, if I can. I like playing mages and rogues, so depending on my mood, when making the character, it will probably an elf mage or a Dwarven rogue. I just hope, the background for the characters are interesting

Yes, but it is kind of frustrating, when the doesn't acknowledge this. I like it, when npcs talk to you about your background.

Half of Josephine's popularity with me is due to that one conversation where she tries to get to know you better. I look forward to it every playthrough.

My first character is always (if possible) an elf, so I'll probably stick with that unless the humans have some amazing background option. I'll go with female, as in almost every playthrough, since it is my irl gender and I only try guys if there is some interesting guy-only romance I want to try (looking at you Morrigan and Dorian ). As for class, mage seems the most fitting, plus it is the class I enjoy the most.

I too would be more in favor of characters talking to you about your past and asking little questions of you which helps flesh out your character. Origins and Inquisition both had them so it'd certainly be nice if DA 4 doubles down on it.

I want to play as a Crow.
But without being a Crow.
I will be captured and enslaved for my crimes. And then I will lead the slave rebellion to take advantage of the Qunari Tevinter war.
