You're missing the point. But whatever. I get that that Obsidian and CDPR put out some great games. If either of them got hold of ME it would become something else entirely. There's a certain style BW has. Obsidian and CDPR have their own styles. To me, the better solution would be to make essentially a clone of ME. The Outer Worlds is Fallout in Space. I don't think anyone doubts that. If Obsidian or CDPR can truly make a superior ME why not just make their own RPG space games? If BW is going to fail, let them fail. Bioware's specialty is companions. Full stop. They do it better then anyone else. I think CDPR does alot of great stuff with the witcher 2 and the witcher 3 but they don't have the companions that bioware does. Yeah yennifer was cool but I didn't want to do her romance several times like morrigan and leliana from DAO. Or issabela from DA2. And noone and I mean NOONE has created characters as good as garrus and wrex they are beyond cool. And I have never had a game make me feel like ME3 did. When mordin did his salarian scientist song as he sacrificed himself to cure the genophage...I am not ashamed to admit I cried. Same when I thought grunt was gonna die and even now when I see him smashing those reaper rachni and that sad music playing... Or when you sit with thane as he is dying in ME3. Man if you were in a romance with him and you are with him when he dies in that hospital room...Watch that scene and tell me you don't get chocked up. That is what bioware does best. Companions and your relationships with them bioware needs to remember that strength and use it!

Um no. CDPR has one franchise under it's belt. Obsidian? Maybe but I'd prefer it stay with Bioware. They know what they are doing and where they want it to go. I keep saying this. When a studio only has the job of making a single game for as long as it takes, of course it's going to be polished. If the BW studios (all of them) were told to make a new ME game and could take as long as they liked, and not get distracted by also making other games, then yeah we'd get something along the lines of what Cloud9 wants. I think he fails to see that if ME were handed off to CDPR (but why he thinks EA would do such a thing is incomprehensible), now you've split the team that was devoted solely to Cyberpunk 2077 to also spend time on ME. Cyberpunk 2077 is already taking incredibly long to be released. Imagine how long it would take with half the team? Yeah, we'd got a very polished game when it came out in 20 years from now.
As for Obsidian, call me unconvinced. Let's compare KOTOR (BioWare) to KOTOR 2 (Obsidian). Can you tell me which was better received? Neverwinter Nights 2 by Obsidian? Sales and ratings were better for Neverwinter Nights by BioWare. I'm not saying Obsidian makes bad games. They make great games and I'm really looking forward to Outer Worlds. I'm curious as to how many of these games are worked on at a time. If you add a second game into the mix, do we look at failure or watered down?
Cloud9 is never going to understand that any studio that works on multiple projects at a time is going to suffer for it. CDPR and Osidian ONLY work on one project at a time. If you change that then the odds of the quality he seeks goes down. The problem with MEA is that the studio screwed up an had to backtrack. I liked the game anyway but I do think it could be better in the hands of an "A team" that it didn't get. Cloud9 is too far from the realities of how it all works to even consider why ME would fare no better under another studio. It would remove all the things that make Mass Effect the game it has been. If they're going to do that, why not make an ME clone like Obsidian is doing with Fallout in Space? That would be the better solution and give us a clear idea of which studio would actually do better.
I am gonna catch some serious shit for this but I really wish people would stop acting like bethesda makes great RPG's. They are essentially just alot of little stories and the whole appeal of it is it is open world and has ALOT of stuff to do. I liked skyrim alot but the story and characters are nothing special. I know you didn't mention bethesda in your post but I have heard people say bethesda would do a good job with dragon age or mass effect before and use the same argument people are using for this. I never even beat fallout 4 because I got bored with it. As for CDPR they are a good studio but they can focus on one game at a time like you said. However what games of theirs have we seen so far besides the witcher games. I am looking forward to cyberpunk 2077 and will but it when it first comes out but people need to remember that bioware has made how many games? CDPR has made three that I know of. And yeah EA is too big of a corporation and we need more smaller studio's like CDPR where they can do their own thing without someone who doesn't even play video games telling them what they have to include. I do not defend big corporations and am not gonna start now. That said if CDPR didn't think they could make money by making a game they wouldn't make it. So yeah in the end it is about the money but it is also about how greedy a corporation is. Okay went off on a rant there sorry. I think EA needs to take a more hands off approach to single player games.

honestly speaking i dont think the location of the next mass effect game matters. which time period they pick doesnt matter. They have to get their development shit together first and foremost. they can have literally have the best idea in the world but if they cant execute it in development it will fall apart. but if casey hudson can get the whole thing together and make bioware work on a game with lazer focus and spend 3 or more years working on a game with that lazer focus then they will be able to make a good game. be it in the milky way or andromeda. and i doubt they will add more micro-transactions than already added in, there is only so many places you can add monitization in a single player game. and it already makes butt loads of money so there may not need to be more reasons to add that much micro-transactions unless they revamp and add alot to the multiplayer. granted if they deal with the ME3 ending, that might be a whole other beast that may never be conquered.

A lot of people don't like ME1 in comparison to the rest of the trilogy - not saying they hate it but like it least. What do MANY people say is the best? ME2. First one under EA. Just saying.

1) Perhaps it has something to do with his continually saying we fans of Bioware are "in denial." 2) Perhaps it has something to do with the nearly daily Youtube releases re-analyzing Bioware games, largely in the negative... and we're just plain tired of the "extreme" nature of such criticism. 3) Perhaps it has something to do with the next ME game likely being at least 6 years away from release... making such speculation about the state of that game, the state of Bioware as a company, and indeed the state of the industry... absolutely pointless. (BTW, that was the facetious point of my earlier post... to illustrate how ridiculous it is to go on about something in such a negative sense that is likely NOT to occur for years into the future. Heck, at the rate of tech advancement I've seen in my lifetime alone... videogames as we know them today may not even exist 6 or 7 years from now.
... and I have an equal "right" to just state my opinion... which is that, it's not any of the devs or publishers that are a "cancer" on this Industry... It's ultimately all the clickbait Youtubers who try to get clicks by sensationalizing and re-sentationalizing every little negative they can latch onto and inundating the internet with it making it seem like a "majority" of fans are of a particular viewpoint... When the fact of the matter is that the majority of fans just buy and play whatever variety of games they want and can affort... and are completely silent because they don't participate on Youtube or on any forums.
1. Perhaps you guys are indeed in DENIAL 2. Because they are TRUE 3. Oh it is closer than you think 1) Not in denial and I think it's rather pathetic that you feel inclined to reappear here periodically just to try to convince yourself of that.
2) It's because they get clicks... Youtubers are just as greedy about getting their money as EA. Overkill is overkill, period. The gaming press have done nothing to earn my respect, so they don't get any from me. I just no longer read their stuff. Simple as that.
3) If another ME game is going to be released within the next year or two... great. It means Bioware will survive this latest onslaught of "bad press." If it's a game I'm interested in and I'm still around and well enough to play videogames, I'll buy it. If not, I won't. Simple as that.

Well, the last few games have been less than stellar, on their behalf. We've got numerous articles now about Bioware's infighting and development troubles, so saying time and again to "leave Bioware be" and " it's fine" ... it definitely has a lot less weight on it than it used to. But most importantly, the "if I'm still around and well enough" got me worried. Are you okay, buddy?

if i may throw my hat in the ring, yeah there seems to be alot of youtubers out there that bring out alot of negative stuff that seem to do well on the platform. Granted there are people who liked the game, and some did speak about it but lets be real here there any many youtubers that do well with positive anthem videos. which alot of it has to do with either focusing on only the good parts (which with anthem has only a few really positive points) leaves much to be desired content creation wise. but man the issues with the game make it easy picking for content creators to make videos on. and most of these content creators are really saying the same thing over and over, but there is alot there to dissect. look at the kutako report, its more than 1100 pages long talking about 7 years of bioware company history, that is a lot of content to make videos on. But to be fair yes there are alot of issues with Anthem and MEA (Anthem has way more issues than MEA did, surprisingly) and now we actually know for a fact there are issues with bioware. there is no way to get around that. on the subject of being in denial, this is a hard thing to say. we now know that biowares development history in the last 7 years has been a shit show sure. but these types of reports are very rare and in among those reports do we get this much information on a company. Now add the responses from bioware and the author about the article and bioware emails so more than ever the fan base is informed on the company. but we wont be getting this inside scope ever again, because bioware is going to be locking leaks down and with DA4 no coming out for awhile now we will be back in the dark again. and there is still have no idea how well in a fiscal sense bioware is doing. we have one report on the physical sales in the UK, thats it. But with that in mind 80 percent of sales are digital now days so we can guess those units sold only make up 20% of the sales made in total. now if you add things like EA access and things like that there is no way we know how well the game did. so in my opinion its hard to either shit on bioware or be in denial of bioware because there is only so much information we are aware of for certain. For the next release of ME5, this is hard to say. now that bioware has the tools for MEA to make the game in frostbite i think that the development will be alot smoother. and if casey hudson can straighten the arrow for the development of ME5 and have the game be worked on for 3 years with lazer focus towards a specific vision the game can be out in the next 5 years. There is a big But though, and its DA4. I believe biowares fate all lies in DA4 and that game is going to have to be amazing. DA4 is going to show if bioware has changed as a company to work on a lazer focused unified vision and really give the game alot of polish and alot of great content. Granted us Bioware austin taking over Anthem, in the coming years anthem may make a come back or be brought up to a point that its very sustainable and maybe even profitable. or they may drop the whole project like how i was dropped on my head and ever look back. But if DA4 doesnt do well there is a chance there may not be a ME5 and no more bioware.

I don't think saying people are in denial counts as such, even if I disagree with you.
Second, you can't really have a debate if you're not around for it.
Third, agreeing to disagree is allowed but prophecy is a stretch.

They have a strong fan base already and if they make them better then that fan base will only grow and at the very least they will keep making profits. Both of those franchises have a ton of content that can still be explored. I really think it should be pointed out that if they put more resources into a game they can actually make a really good game in two or three years and if they did this with both the DA franchise and the ME franchise they would have a big game come out every year or two. So abandon your other idea's and focus on what gets the fan base out to buy your games.
Also I think DA4 better be fucking epic since they have been making it since..... it's been what five years already since DAI. It will probably be another year or two until the next DA game so I hope it will be good. Of course I will still end up buying the next ME game even if the next DA game is "okay"

I think CDPR are on the right path. Until The Witcher 2, Geralt was very solitary, but in TW3, companions become really important (they even copied the suicide mission from ME2), and you can really get attached to friends/love interests like Triss, and of course Ciri. But I think they kinda dropped the ball on Zoltan, which used to be my tiny Krogan buddy

[ on the subject of being in denial, this is a hard thing to say. we now know that biowares development history in the last 7 years has been a shit show sure. but these types of reports are very rare and in among those reports do we get this much information on a company. There in another data point. Anthem's Twitch numbers are bad. Very bad. However, nobody really knows how those numbers correlate with real success targets. you are right i did not account for streaming numbers, my bad. though i think that is more of an interest in the game, not persay how many units were pushed. but the to are usually correlated. sadly those are the only concrete numbers we can get now days.

So here's the funny thing. A lot of people don't like ME1 in comparison to the rest of the trilogy - not saying they hate it but like it least. What do MANY people say is the best? ME2. First one under EA. Just saying. I have said that before. The first bioware game I played was DAO and then I played ME1 (yes I played ME1 a long time after it came out) SO the only bioware game I played that wasn't part of EA was ME1 and while I like it I love ME2 and ME3 pre ending. Ironically I have made that same point about ME2 being an EA game and that alot of people say that it's the best game in the series. But I think EA has been pushing MP recently and I hope they stop or at the least that they don't take away from the single player campaign of bioware games.

Geralt makes friends everywhere he goes. The Bioware companion banter analogy is actually spot on for the novels! In the books, Geralt is almost never alone for long. He always travels with a ragtag group of misfits he happens to meet and get friendly with. He is actually quite the popular guy among other outcasts! That's the big irony of his character. He is not a lone wolf. He just avoids people because most treat him like shit. But he happily engages in conversations with people who have an open mind towards his profession.

But I think EA has been pushing MP recently and I hope they stop or at the least that they don't take away from the single player campaign of bioware games. I've been playing Bioware games since ... 1998? And the last nine years have been disappointing. Some of them even caused some real soul crushing depression, so good job, Bioware I mean, that's bad, but still pretty impressive that they could have an effect like that on someone. Unintentionally so, unlike Platinum Games did with the Nier games. It's heartbreaking to see Bioware's name get dragged through the mud, but I do believe it is justified, even if some here will disagree. Their current state is the culmination of bad choices and "artistic integrity", i.e. disregarding helpful feedback and continuing doing their own thing, no matter how bad it gets. No matter what EA asks of them, they first need to figure out what the players want to play, find a way to give them that and then integrate a non intrusive EA money making scheme on top of it.
Right off the bat, I will tell you, I do not want to play Andromeda 2

But remember, the whole point about EA's focus on "engagement" is that this is what players want to play. Games with those elements are played for more hours than one-and-done classic RPGs.

It wasn't the initial pitch which sank Anthem, it was the implementation.

It wasn't the initial pitch which sank Anthem, it was the implementation. Do you think people would be equally susceptible to a pitch for Anthem 2, after the original's implementation? I sincerely doubt it.

Yeah I read some of the books and I know dandelion is geralts closest friend. However I meant in The witcher 2 they played up zolton to be the badass best friend where as dandelion is like the comic relief.
