Well, this brings his "What's next for Anthem" blog post in a whole new light
Didn't know there was a position for Head of Live-Service.
Anthem seems to be bad Karma for many.
This guy wasn't exactly the shining light in bioware... I mean did you see that stream where he was supposed to be demonstrating the game, but DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO PLAY?!

I'm none too bothered that this guy is leaving.
The Anthem streams were pure comedy gold though. I kinda miss them now. Most of the Bioware staff didn't know how to play, which was part of the cringe And also sort of an alarm bell.
I actually stumbled on some old Reddit threads concerning those streams. The optimists posts that cited the Road map and how it indicates the game is recovering and on it's way to a bright future...did not age well.
Well, I can sympathize completely. After 14 years he gets saddled with the company's biggest dumpster fire.
He was at BioWare Austin, right?
So the A-Team at Edmonton bungles pretty much every aspect of the base game and its release, tells their customers that no problemo, there is a big juicy road map showing off all the awesome stuff they're going to get, and then hand it over to him and his team, who then have to root through A-Team's spaghetti code to try and implement all those promises that were probably made without any input from them.
Getting out was likely the only way to cling to any remaining sanity.

The Road Map literally showed nothing, but a few images. People just went crazy on speculating how awesome it all will be and attacked anyone that pointed out "Umm, guys, the Road map is...naked". So the Austin team really wasn't put in a situation to work towards a goal. There was no goal at all, just a vague "something to be released".

Given how incredibly crappy it is to work with and build upon someone else's code, especially if it was slapped together in a panicked hurry like Anthem's was, even just the promises that were explicitly mentioned were pretty daring, like leaderboards, evolving world, the cataclysms and what not. When, at the same time, they didn't even have (and still don't have, methinks) a stat page. Remember, the A-Team's code has been so poor in the past that they couldn't fix the banter bug in DAI, which is essentially a timer playing audio files.
While yes, all the "Cortex locked" entries, had they ever been revealed, would have probably turned out to be "some new wrap in the shop" or "another gun that looks just like the other two dozens you already have".
The zealots trying to shout down everyone who was pointing out how weak that road map was are a different matter altogether.

That bug was the reason I got introduced to Cheat Engine, so I am actually grateful for it

Comedy gold indeed. I remember at one time when they were asked about stat screens and they took about 5 minutes to fumble around and said 'yeah they're coming... someday'.
Well it is recovering, just not in any way shape or form like the road map predicted.
Statistically, the math tells that sooner or later, BIO WILL GET THINGS DONE ON TIME. Oooops, I hit the caps/lock key by mistake.
And statistically speaking, I saw the farmer spread manure yesterday on his field. My property is on the edge of his farm. Good thing my windows are all closed due to current November temps. Bad news is that he only did 1/16th of the field.... Bad news is that I'd better be quick in overseeding my grass. ... got two 21Kg bags of seed to spread.

Ah... that stats screen. It was one of the items I mentioned before the game came out. Given mgt proven incompetence, I'm unsurprised it's still missing 'in action'.

𝕽𝖎𝖈𝖔 𝕱𝖑𝖔𝖗𝖊𝖘 🗝️ @r1c00 Bringing #N7Day to #AnthemGame!! I animated this by watching a Shepard dance youtube video on loop for a whole day. I've been obsessed w/ this ridiculous dance since I played Mass Effect and I'm honored to bring it to life again as an Emote. May the Shepard shuffle live forever🕺
Thanks to @the_Ur_Quan and his team for turning this anim into an awesome rendered beauty

Emily (aka Domino) Taylor pentapod Random trivia, back in April 2018 I was working on #AnthemGame and Jay (Yarrow's writer) wanted Agent Yarrow to do a dorky dance. I submitted a Jira and asked if it was possible to import the Shepherd Shuffle animation to use for this, as a little #N7 easter egg.
In the end Yarrow got his own custom dorky dance, which you see if you get to his end game RP convos. But the request was apparently still sitting there and I guess someone ended up finding time to do it anyway! I thought it'd been abandoned so I was delighted to see this 😊
Now if there is ever another future Mass Effect game, we need to import Yarrow's dorky dance into it somewhere, and bring it all full circle 🤣

Funny.. Anthem is making $8 a pop for these skins while the ME series is not.

Whispers: (They all go to BioWare)
Quite true.
However, the point is that Bio is relying on other games to prop them up instead of using vanity items from the Anthem live-service game. This "reachback" highlights the state of their new IP. To drill deeper, the Anthem store has insufficient Anthem skins which to me bodes ill for DA4.
If Bio was smart, our intrepid hero should own quarters which can grow and be customized with items picked from the field and additionally bough from the store. Unfortunately, this may require a small editor for room layout purposes.... something Bio will have to develop.

Well, it's "N7Day" and, besides the "N7" logo graphic that was released at the same time as the game, it's only time (please feel free to correct if I'm wrong) they've "reachedback" is 9 months of the game's release in terms of items available in the store. I mean, this is just smart business. Why on Earth would BioWare, or any game dev company for that matter, not take advantage of the opportunity? I guarantee you there are people who are casually playing "Anthem" that will buy shards for the first time to get the "Mass Effect" themed armors. emotes, and graphics.
