Care to elaborate further? I like seeing my character. I like seeing my character interacting with people. I assume the game would have had a better CC if it were SP. But what would be the point if you never see your character in Fort Tarsis, and you're always in a Javalin outside. Bioware is going more and more away from the old cutscene style and is using the style where the camera angle just shifts but you stay in the live world. I already don't like this, and I think it's even worse in the first person. I'm probably in the minority because I just don't like first-person games in general. If a game gives me an option, I'll always play in 3rd person. I even play Skyrim in the third person. I guess you arent so hyped for Cyberpunk 2077 then ha?

Just to play Devil's advocate, Cyberpunk's been in development for at least 7 years with no release date in sight. So for modern AAA games 6 years isn't terribly long. Imagine if Anthem had another couple of years under its belt, a lot of problems would have been sorted. Released too early

If Bioware is one if EAs better studios, why not give them the time and freedom to accomplish their visions?

I think they went in over the heads with trying to make a majority of the game run only online. Them having to create a network infrastructure that could handle all the games intricacies, in addition to it being on the Frostbite engine, probably bit them in the ass. The game was far bigger than what they could chew. Dragon Age: Inquisition was able to work pretty well on the engine primarily because it was a singleplayer experience. No significant amount of netcode was needed. More than likely, they needed to spend so much time just trying to get the game to run in this type of environment, they likely weren't able to finish many of the ideas they had in mind. I remember some members at BioWare saying that, previously, each Javelin was supposed to have a unique mission in order to obtain them. I wouldn't be surprised if that got cut because they were pressed for time already. But 6 years of development. This isnt like MEA where the scope kept changing and by the time they came to a final concept, they only had 18 months til release. This was the Bioware A+ team that had a solid 6 years development to include pulling people from other projects to work on this. 6 years of development.... I was planning on mentioning this initially, but I thought it was too speculative. However, I was originally planning on mentioning that I feel theres the possibility that the game got a massive change in scope/direction some time back. There's some chance EA, after seeing the rebirth of Destiny (via The Taken King) and the reveal of The Division, came to BioWare around Fall 2015-Winter 2016 and said: EA: "Where is your Destiny game?" BioWare: "That's not what we're working on right now. We've got this cool Iron Man game where the main protago--" EA: "Okay. Iron Man suits. Cool! Make the game like Destiny now." BioWare: "But we--" EA: "Just get it done!" That's another likely scenario.

Doubt it. As a concept it's not remotely as interesting as Mass Effect or DA. It's just a fairly generic setting that cribs from Destiny and War frame.

They resumed working on Cyberpunk after TW3 and all expansions were released IIRC.

As others have said here, I believe this is a natural evolvement for them; they've been doing really good MP components for their games for quite a while now (I still play DAIMP occasionally), so trying to make a game where it's the main part seems only natural.
As for the 6 years: it's not really that long a time, software development-wise. And some problems/bugs simply refuse to show up until you go full-scale. Perhaps they should have had a longer beta-testing period, but that would only have helped so much.

As far as delivering the story I agree. It's supposed to be me, Faye and Haluk not me Faye, Haluk, DeezNuts4312, CmdrShepurdN7 and Hybridpenguin91.
Other than that, I don't miss anything from the traditional BW game.

Maybe, maybe not. That article does little to sell me on the notion of an excellent Anthem SP game, certainly not based on my, admittedly short, experience playing the game. With more content and variety, maybe. As it stands? Nope.

Are you trying to imply the Bioware A team was incompetent to take advantage of 6 years of development? Come on now, you used that excuse for MEA, are we using that again with Anthem? So until reports comes out that Anthem had a shaky development.... .....6 years of development.....

I think Anthem already is a decent singleplayer game. I played story missions and contracts in a solo lobby and just did strongholds and Freeplay with others. That way I didn't feel like I was holding people up when I walked around Tarsis and talked to all the NPCs for hours. The NPCs are some of the best I've seen recently and I'm really happy to see different outcomes to Leyton's story based on the freelancer's choices. Not sure how many other conversations have different outcomes. (Did everyone else have Prindle show up in Marl's storyline or was it because I went left with Prindle?)
It's not as deep story-wise as if it had been strictly SP, but I'm still really enjoying Anthem and looking forward to seeing the next act. It's hopefully going to tide me over until the next DA and ME games come out.

Personally i think it was always going to be a co-op game, wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was initial built to support full mtx an lootboxes an it was all so embeded into the game that well snip snip an redo after all the backlash after Swbf2
