I will second the sentiment that emotional investment plays a big part in ME3MP's appeal. I would not have enjoyed it as a standalone game with new characters. ME3MP is objectively the most basic multiplayer horde mode ever. But it allowed me to hop around as a vorcha like a maniac, so that one example alone beats pretty much any other multiplayer for me. It's as simple as that for me. Vorcha crying "help me" never stops being adorable. The biotic boom never gets old. There are so many things in this stupid basic MP that never stopped being awesome. Not everybody feels that way but I know plenty of people to whom ME3MP is special. It cannot be exlained really by just looking at it objectively. If I had to try and break down why thousands of people still play ME3MP I would say emotional attachment combined with a high number of kits and infinite flexibility with builds. It's so simple a game mode and yet lets you do whatever you want within that framework. Themed matches are the best! ME3MP lets you play all these alien races you've come to love. It's the ONLY place where Bioware let us roleplay an asari goddess or even the Volus biotic god. It offers something the singleplayer never had. Something I STILL would throw money at Bioware for. Give me a Mass Effect spin off with a non-human protagonist. Give me a Turian private detective or a a space pirate crew!
Hell, I would have preferred they do a Mass Effect map looter shooter in the actual spirit of ME3MP over the borefest that is Anthem. Or the inferior MP in Andromeda where half the races were gone. No vorcha, no buy. Simple as that. ME3MP was a unique situation and that's why it worked imo.

Yep, 22,000 hours in WoW. 2,500 hours in Skyrim. 3,500 hours in Oblivion. 2,900 hours in Star Trek Online. 650 hours for fallout New Vegas. 700 hours for Fallout 3. 383 hours in Shogun 2 Total War. 160 hours in Assasin's Creed Odyssey, still pending since DLCs aren't finished. Played ME1 over 50 times, 100% runs. ME2 was played over 35 times, 100% runs. The list goes on really... I am fortunate enough to be blessed with lots of free time in my life, and games are how I spend most of that time. So yea, I have the patience to grind. And yes, I do pay bills and go to work and deal with responsabilities lol.

therevanchist25 Impressive! Now, tell me your secret! I need more free time too! I game way too much after work. So me having played FO4 for 750 hours in one year means I didn't do much else that year, lol. But that's my most played game. 200+ hours in Skyrim and other open world games is usually the most I can manage before I burn out.

Bought, playing, its fun Easy to play many hundres of hours. I have 1988 hours in MEA(MP mostly) now. I think I'm gonna rack a lot in Anthem too it seems. me3mp was super repetitive and yet it was never fun. Not fun even when I played it friends... shows how much movement and gameplay mechanics matter and change from people to people.

I did this for Mass Effect Andromeda, might as well do it for this too. Also if anyone played Anthem whats your review for it? I played the beta and am playing the final release. There were issues for me the first week and a half due to ports that needed to be open on my router (playing on Xbox). Once I got that figured out the gameplay has been a blast. It plays a lot like ME as far as the combat goes, just a lot faster. The skills are what make the game. The weapons are all so similar and none of them have stood our for me, yet. But flying around and hovering over the battlefield as the Storm javelin is major awesome with raining down lightning, fire and ice, so much fun. There are issues apparently with high end loot dropping for players at max or very high levels. I'm only level 18 so I haven't noticed it yet. Matchmaking is seamless and the open world is beautiful. I play a lot of games though and don't get stuck on any one for any length of time. It keeps them fresh for me to cycle through 3-4 at a time.

In ME3MP, you have different dodges, different melee, different powers sets, weapons that behave vastly differently. In MEAMP (and it's cousin Anthem) you have teh jetpax. Stop generalizing and putting your perspective on others; man up and claim this perspective is yours. Very few share it.

Still having fun with it. Got it free with a graphics card, so I got my money's worth. I can honestly say, without fear of hyperbole, that Anthem is the best loading screen simulator of February 2019.

I payed for Origin Premier. Played through the lackluster campaign and didn't enjoy anything about the game enough to start grinding, so I uninstalled. Only when the game is much, much better and much, much cheaper would I consider spending money on it again.

He finished the game in 14 hours, weeks ago. His input is every bit as valid as yours, and I know already whose opinion I value more. I guess that means he finished the main story in 14 hours based on him saying in another post that he put about 60 hours into the game, reaching GM game play. For me that would more than justify the $60 base cost of the game. I had major issues with connectivity for the first week and a half of the game being out, but I worked those out with my ISP and EA Help. Since then it's been error free. Except for not having a marker to set way-points on the map, I'm fine with it the way it is. Everybody experiences different things based on the platform they're playing on. I had no issue with his input into the game, just the tone he took to point it out. This is a forum for everyone to speak so you don't have to agree with anything I say.

Your reply to OP was, "not if it was the last game on the motherfucking earth", hence the reason I told you that it wasn't nice. To many the game isn't broken to the point where they regret spending full price on it and I'm in that category. I wouldn't have responded to you if you elaborated in your reply to OP that you had played the game for all those hours. You didn't say in the end why you quit playing, I'm assuming it was due to lack of end game activity. You seem to have some serious issues with the game, that's for sure.

it's a 6.5 game but only due ot it;s shortoming. Gameplay, combat flight, presentation is top notch. Variety tweaks bugs content drag it down. Not regretting my 50 euros and not regretting my 7 days playtime at all.

I suppose I could honestly claim that I never "bought" Anthem, but I sort of rented it. With EA's Origin, I subscribed to their Premium service for one month and played the game as much as I wanted and then canceled the service. I am glad I didn't spend any more than I did.

You'd be surprised at how easy it is to rack up over a 1000 hours in a game. I think my most played game ever was the original SWBF2 on PS2, had around 4800hrs, followed by Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 at like 3000 or so. I think I only had a little over a 1000hrs in D1, I took 2 months off from that game in between year 1 and 2.

I bought it and loved it, not so much now, too much broken and not enough being done about the broken stuff, and too many bad decisions IMO. To me it feels like someone is following the Destiny playbook they have just condensed it down to the abridged pocket sized edition.

155+ hours. Probably enjoyed about 20 of them. Probably 30 hours of that is loading screens. The rest was a combination of annoyance and boredom.
