They're starting to sound like abusive spouses. I'm sorry Bioware, but I've moved on and found another man that treats me right! That’s not funny. Yes it is.

Story time!
Prelaunch weeks - Ben Irving and the team are all friendly, available, laughing and communicating, excited to deliver the awesomeness they worked so hard to develop. There's fun to be had for years to come! Livestreams, gameplay, the works!
Players get a beta taste of the content. Players are not happy. Players bring up valid concerns about the whole deal. Players start to get suspicious. Ben Irving has none of it - all will be fine, we listen, we will make fixes, launch will be awesome!
Launch happens. Nothing is fixed, the promises were not met, blatant PR lies are revealed, the grind for gear turns out to be of epic proportions. Ben Irving and Bioware go in silence mode and the community manager is left to take the worst of the shitstorm. Promises for future fixes are made. Little tweaks are pushed out with "much more to come soon". The "soon" gets longer and longer and ends up being barely a bandaid. Players are pissed and start to leave in droves. The game population plummets to record low. Suddenly Bioware wakes up and panic mode damage control measures kick in. Communication resumes, livestreams are back, pleas to players "to stay on" are written, more promises are made for the future. Ben Irving is "kicked upstairs" to Anthem...oh, wait, you thought I am talking about Anthem this whole time? No, no, no, this is the story of SWTOR's patch 5.0 (released in November 2016. Right now we are at patch...5.10.1a... that's right, almost two and a half years without a new expansion after that shitstorm and other reasons).

Objection! Argumentative. In all seriousness, it's too soon to tell. Sure, it's only a suspicion. When devs were talking with excitement about the GAAS model benefiting DA and Mass Effect, and then went a bit quiet when people raised their eyebrows. I don't think there is anything to fear, but that's just one opinion.

The problem is the faith in any sort of timeline Bioware puts out. I play on a daily basis (as most here do, I reckon), and for me fixes to loot and health and balancing are absolute top priority over more content. But that's just me.

Yes, you're right. The people who are concerned about DA4 being another live services game made on Frostbite are clearly just not listening to Bioware's underlining or whatever. Yet I very much suspect that DA4 will absolutely be a live service on Frostbite, and that will be to the benefit of the game. The key will be how they accomplish it.
Lol,
Glad you agree with me regarding DA4 and live service. Expect little content at launch then, if Bio's philosophy with Anthem is anything to go by. I fear DA4 will be monetized by design first, though.

I do. Bio continuously oversells their products.
Example: Anthem's original trailer showed a live marketplace with a Strider walking by.

Anthem's original trailer showed a live marketplace with a Strider walking by. Yes, the bustling marketplace is there, but the Strider is parked.

All games oversell. All movies oversell. All everything else oversells. The core concept of marketing is making it look you need something while you actually don't. Honestly, taking anything from any marketing department at face value is a shortcoming on your part for falling for it.
At the rate you describe it, you could be mad at a game developer for switching fonts from the trailer they showed 2 years before release.

Off-topic, but your comment just reminded me of the abomination that was this Terminator Genisys trailer: Basically spoiled the big twist. Ended up watching it two years later when they aired it on TV. For free.

I just said it'd be lost on you To be fair I'd expect any rational person to be lost reading this conversation.
The point: Casey talks about the lunch, bugs and BioWare's long term commitment to the game. That's good, I'm looking forward to seeing how the game develops over the coming years.

I'll play. I think the point is Did you miss the part where after SIX YEARS of development we got an MVP with bare bone content, a shit ton of inexcusable bugs, missing/cut features, awful mechanics and a downright deceitful marketing?

you are looking at what he said I am looking at what he is in denial of Well, I'm still playing after 200 hours and I'm still working through the challenges, so no issue for launch content. There's a clear roadmap for more. The bugs were below standard, but most were addressed by the Day One patch, with many more in 1.0.3. In fairness, I think with 1.0.4 it will reach 'launch quality'. Nevertheless, sales appear decent and many people are playing, I see no denial on Casey's part (not that you seem to have been very clear about exactly what you think that is).
