Ranger looks pretty damn strong built as a pew-pew weapon focus or melee user now. I mean, the melee build of Avenger’s Boon + Cold Blooded + Unending Battle + Vanguard’s Badge was already pretty strong, but with the damage bonuses to the gear items and components it’s been pretty overclocked it seems. Full patch notes here in case you missed ‘em - www.ea.com/games/anthem/news/patch-104Any input from other BSNers on the javelin buffs in general?

They seem insane. Restore shields on melee hit (rather than kill) is a big deal. And something a lot of people seem to be missing is this patch introduces several additional/better ways to allow Rangers to prime with their weapon and trigger tip of the spear more often. On top of that, 25% armor every two hits (rather than three kills) sounds insane on paper.
Consider a ranger with radiant fortress, the new masterwork that makes shotgun shots that land 7+ pellets prime acid, the melee vanguard masterwork, and tip of the spear. Melee into shot to prime both acid and lightning and restore 75% shields. Then detonate both primers with last argument, generating two combos, 80% armor recovery, and a shitton of ult charge. Dayum.
If everything works as described, rangers may well surpass colossuses. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Bioware didn't test any of this shit and rangers end up insanely OP. Of course, given how fucked the loot is, who knows what's "working as intended."

It was about time. Ranger was kinda below the other javelins when it came to dealing damage and being able to survive in GM2. Now it can do that.

Tried out the new ranger. Insanely OP, clearly not tested at all.
No one tell Bioware - we'll get to enjoy it until one of the devs plays a ranger for ten minutes.

Oh yes please I need to redeem myself for the rubbish games I've had. As apparently the least popular (based on rarely getting another one in pugs) maybe they won't find out...

Oh, what? You didn't get a buff?
Seriously, they had to do something for Rangers to compensate for the lack of proper collision detection.

Guess I will take my MW Ranger from the mothballs and give him a Legendary makeover...if I ever stop getting Leg components for Storm in every other Javelin I play, rofl.

Storm was buffed in a more moderate manner, but good buffs overall. Nothing as OP as the ranger though. Although glacial beam is now real fun to ue as it both detonates and primes

Although glacial beam is now real fun to ue as it both detonates and primes The thunderbolt of yvenia fix with some changes to masterworks has gotten me 50k procs with a lightning setup (ponder infinity being the key piece). It's now my best weapon(ish) damage dealer. It also now does decent crowd damage with the new mark of wrath or whatever it's called that procs a lightning explosion on combo. Overall some really solid buffs that let it do its job without being insanely OP like the Ranger is now. I'm not sure, but it seems that they may have made some masterwork passives multiplicative rather than additive. I have a legendary pulse blast that makes my melee go from 18k to about 45k. Certainly shouldn't be that noticeable if additive. As mentioned above, my storm items also seem to be multiplying the damage of my yvenia procs. It's doing several times more damage with numerous masterworks and an epic than it was with a full legendary loadout on another javelin prepatch, which under the previous scaling formula shouldn't have been possible. Colossus and interceptor feel mostly the same at first blush. Patch provided about 45 mins of entertainment before loot fatigue set in and I just couldn't play anymore. All purples/blues from GM2/3 strongholds is just ridiculous.

They had to do something based on all the bad press they've been getting. I see a buff across the board. I was wondering why my Storm hover shield seemed to last longer and take less damage over time last night. I did the Heart of Rage story mission expecting to die a million times, but it did pretty well. I'm literally rushing to start my Ranger now...

The point is it's actually functioning as a multiplier now. Multiplying the entirely of melee damage by 2.25 (2.1 I think is the actual multiplier) is very different than adding 2.1x base damage. I haven't tested myself, but previous research on earlier versions of the game suggested these were additive and thus wouldn't be nearly as impactful.

this is not a pvp game. Overpwoering builds are fine, especially for GM3. I wlcome all the damage buffs on all javelins!

Yeah, that's never really held up as an excuse. Creating builds of different javelins with varying strengths and weaknesses is interesting in the long run; having one of them drastically outperform the others on almost every metric is not.
I don't really have a problem with Ranger being this powerful, but it's not particularly fun to take the colossus out for a spin when the ranger is tankier, or the interceptor when ranger is much better at melee/dps.

That is not what is happening, Ranger is just finally catching up to the others now.
Intercepter is a melee madness going from one kill to the next, Storm can prime and combo several enemies in a really short amount of time and Colossus can withstand pretty much most damage enemies throw at him while also dealing heavy damage.

No, it's not. The Ranger is not "catching up," it is way, way past the others.
My ranger is now doing 45k per melee swing while the interceptor is doing 20k every two seconds. And the interceptor isn't recovering 40% shields and priming for a high damage combo (that recovers armor) while doing that. And that's not even addressing the insane rate at which Ranger builds ult.
All that, on top of the ranger now tanking almost as well, if not better, than the Colossus. The only thing it doesn't do almost as good if not better than every other javelin is group CC (voltaic dome, ice storm).
I haven't done GM3 with my other javelins. I did it last night several times with Ranger without coming anywhere near dying and while carrying teammates that died constantly. 100% completion rate. Not even a full build, fewer legendaries than my other javelins. Honestly reminds me of TGI except maybe better.

So give it that Divine Vengeance or whatever and we have Anthem’s TGI+Harrier, amirite? For bosses I do use divine vengeance and it feels comparable. For normal mobs you use melee and combos almost exclusively and it does far more damage, particularly now that divine vengeance doesn't proc through shields. I also run radiant fortress to prime acid and get more shield regen.
