No surprise, really. This after they tossed ME to Montreal and pulled a lot of people off of DA4 to get Anthem out the door. Meanwhile, 5 years have passed since DAI's release - and it looks like DA4 may be another 2-3 years away - while anything new in ME world is beyond the horizon. The reality is that throwing all of their devs at Anthem at this point probably wouldn't help, anyway. Anthem desperately needs well-laid, cohesive plans and carefully crafted designs - not something thrown together by an army of people pulling in different directions. What Anthem needs is the Final Fantasy XIV treatment. Keep the game running, give more in game currency for the store, stop all developement of the game though. And then hand Anthem to Respawn once Respawn are ready and let Respawn give the game a total overhaul. No.

And then hand Anthem to Respawn once Respawn are ready and let Respawn give the game a total overhaul. No. Why not? Respawn might be able to make a better product out of Anthem. Not like Anthem is a RPG or very story-driven anywho. I suppose you have not followed Final Fantasy XIV, which is fair. But Final Fantasy XIV first released as a mess, Square Enix pulled in a prominent developer figure and asked him how to fix it; he said it needed a total overhaul and they agreed to it. The MMO was still running for free for all people. Until they released a newer and far superior version of Final Fantasy XIV, essentially the same game, just drastically improved. Why would we not want such a treatment for Anthem? As I already mentioned, EA probably has the money due to similar tax evasions as Activision... they just need to stop stuffing the pockets of their CEO, eat some of that humble pie that Nintendo's big dog have eaten, take a paycut and take a little from the Investors too, and boom... new and better product to fix the broken image. They have the money, studios, people, and time to make great products... they should start actually making something great again.

Well, is nothing new. DAI have the ME3 ending and its own DA2 backlash to fight with at the time. DA4 will not be different in that regard, with getting both MEA and Anthem backlash against it. If DA4 get to be a good game (and I don't know why, but I have for now a good feeling about it, contrary to Andromeda and anthem. Can still change when news came out of course, but I'm going to enjoy the good feeling for as long as I can ) I feel DA will get the Arab Phenix of BioWare title. I guess for now is all a wait and see aniway.

In my cycle, we didn't need to ask This thread is quite alright.
Anyway, I enjoy Anthem, and being a paying customer I'd like to see it improve and hopefully get some staying power. However, I'd burn its servers to ash if it meant getting another good Dragon Age game.
I didn't know I felt this way until I ready your post.

It is now DA4's time to be the focus. More than enough time has been spent on Anthem already. Bioware cannot afford to release a rushed and flawed DA4 due to all its resources being used to try and fix Anthem.
LOL, That's what I've been saying about Andromeda and Anthem before the games came out. Did anyone listen?.

Bury Anthem. It's a lost cause. All hands on deck for DA4.
Ouch!
DA4 = MP + live service... Another Ouch!
My only curiosity at this time is its story development. If DA4's story = same as Anthen's HUB = First Person Viewpoint.... well, I know what to expect = no NPC chars to take with you in battle or exploration.
I agree with you that Edmonton must focus on DA4 and avoid past mgt mistakes.

Anthem may have been a blunder, but I honestly doubt Bioware would pull that one off in a game for a well-established series where people actually, you know, spend time deciding on each individual facial feature for their characters. That's just plain delusional.

As the story of Warframe shows, any game that is expected to offer continued live service and new content to go with it, for years to come, needs the full attention of a rather large dev team, and in the case of BioWare those devs would need to be diverted from DA4 and/or SWTOR. If Anthem ends up with a skeleton crew, all we can realistically expect is free play events and minor bug fixes and balance changes - not enough for any longevity given the dearth of content, eroding player base and numerous issues. A no-win situation if I've ever seen one. But Anthem seems the most expendable one to me, so my suggestion would be to make it quick and painless...This is not an option. People bought a game when they were promised it will keep being supported for a long time. If they cut all support right now, they might be facing legal repercussions on top of the absolutely destroyed reputation. You mean like Andromeda? I'm still waiting for the Quarian Ark. And no, some damn book doesn't count.

I'll spell it for you, then. The ability to create your very own face means diddly squat if you can't see it in 3rd person cinematics. So, to repeat.. If DA4's story = same as Anthem's HUB = First Person Viewpoint, your "... spend time deciding on each individual facial feature for their characters..." means nothing as proven by Anthem.
On the other hand, if DA4 is truly an aRPG as in DA:I with the accompanying char customization feature and NPC chars companions as opposed to co-op play, then this discussion is moot.

They, both EA and BioWare, have expressed the exact opposite.

Here's EA's execs comments on "Anthem" to investors just yesterday in their Q4 2018 call: "We continue to invest heavily in Anthem, with developers working on game quality, content, systems and game mechanics. It's great original IP and we've doubled down on the product." "We are delivering on our commitment to players with deep live services content for Ultimate Team, Apex Legends, Anthem and Battlefield." "Fans of Battlefield V, The Sims 4, and Anthem will have more great content and new ways to play in the year ahead."

Anthem is a loot shooter that had us choose between pre-made faces rather than having us make our own. It's a world and a half of difference between that and an RPG featuring a fully-fledged character creator. Now, I might be a naive kid with no idea regarding how games are developed, but I don't think anyone at Bioware would think it's a great idea to turn DA into a first-person game, especially when it'll most likely feature, you know, an actual character creator. Anyone who says so is either overly pessimistic, or is spreading misinformation. I have no beef with the former, but the latter is beyond irritating, regardless of intent.

They'd be pretty nuts to do such a thing. To take an established IP and basically gut one of the core experiences of the game to mimic that of a basic looter shooter would be met with plenty of venom and hatred (some from me). I just don't see them doing that unless they're actively trying to destroy everything.

Yes, we all want that, even me. But, my understanding is that DA4 is a live service game. This means minimal content at launch. "Minimal" at this time is undefined but I don't expect a full blown aRPG.... On the other hand, Anthem shows what happens with a skeleton story... players will finish the main arc in no time. If Bio is smart and I hope they are, they will give us a full blown aRPG as a core design.
