Wellll there being nothing to do in the really nice spaces and places was slightly quite muchly annoying, didn’t feel like I was exploring, because I wasn’t really discovering, because there wasn’t too much to discover, unless I pretended I was the first person ever to discover elfroot, which I did pretend a couple of times and no one was impressed It’s a shame really because I really liked all the regions and they had a great feel to them, but they were so empty of things to do they woulda been better off as a backdrop and the resources that went toward making big areas that you could run around and do a whole bunch of bananas-nothing coulda went more toward story, because that didn’t feel very meaty, it was mostly bone, which I suppose if we were dogs would be great because dogs love bones Oh and I feel like the inquisitor was pretty bland, I loved what they did with hawke in da2, they coulda done that, I know it doesn’t leave much for headcanons, but neither does neutral soulless do much for headcanons, though I found the American va for femquizzy did give her some semblance of Life, and she didn’t sound like a newsreader like the British one haha... but anyways, the companions were awesome soooooooo yeh . Oh and uhcourse, COMBAT, lack of combat tactics, not that I’m a great tactician and I’m pretty all over the place and terrible with it but I still bloody well liked it and cried like a tiny little tiny small little tiny baby when it wasn’t in Da:i, I mean I found it funny in da:o to make morrigan stay close to alistair in combat to protect him because we all know they secretly loved eachother really Anyways combat felt a bit slow too in dai, and very sluggish, I feel like a slug when I fight in dai... no actually a snail, because they’re slower cus of the shell and all Oh and I hope oghren shows up in da4, I like oghren, and his beard, even if just his beard is in da4 that’s fine cus I like his beard and it’s a shame it wasn’t in da:2 cus I like his beard, so hopefully it’ll show up in da4 cus I like his beard a lot

Health Regeneration potions with the Proximity Heal upgrade did help to mitigate this slightly.
As long as you keep everyone equipped with them and have only one person chug a potion to passively heal the rest, you don't really need to worry about the lack of health regen or restocking for a while. I only ever completed Inquisition once, and it was years ago. I can't remember anything about proximity health regeneration potions. Working on a complete playthrough right now, and am slogging through the Exalted Plains at level 18. Still don't have the right herbs to upgrade any potions beyond rank 3, or in some cases rank 2 - which means that the materials required for this proximity upgrade are likely to be something gathered from the endgame zones such as Emprise du Lion etc. Therefore the mechanic does not solve the "issue" I described earlier, given that a significant portion of the game is spent doing lower level content. Right now I hardly need healing potions at all, because my party rarely takes damage, given that they have weapons that generate guard, and I run a two-Mage party, both generating barriers, so the potion issue is moot. Things were very different back at level 5 when still trawling through the Hinterlands, and things will likely change again when I start facing more challenging foes in Frostback Basin etc. Besides which it's still basically 'potion spam', even if it's just one potion-per-party. It's just not a mechanic I particularly enjoy.

So based off what I've read over the past 3 months, most of the core criticisms boil down to:
Story, Presentation, and Setting
- Poorly structured sidequests - Too many fetch quests - War table actions should have been actual quests/sidequests - Lore retconning concerns - Not enough interesting locales, and too many empty spaces - Lack of a compelling main villain
Characters and NPCs
- Companion personalities - Not enough facial model variety or realism - Too many returning characters - Lack of NPC activity
Gameplay
- Hit or miss combat - Lack of enemy variety - Tactical camera operation - War Table time-sinks - Companion AI in combat - Player classes not adequately fulfilling their role like in previous games. - Companions lacking unique skill trees - Lack of healing spells - No AI tactics option - Grinding for levels to advance the campaign or unlock new areas - Mounts being useless - The sonar ping system
Customization
- Poor hair options - Poor armor options for Qunari and Elves - Inability to obtain all schematics
UI and Technical Aspects
- Limited key bind options for skills - Technical bugs (ex. Banter bug) - Convoluted Menu UI design

Frostbite 3 engine. Especially after everything after DA:I went downhill for Bioware. I understand why EA doesn't want to pay licensing fees for third party engines, but BioWare has developed RPG engines in the past, so maybe they should do that. I can imagine it's expensive, but so is wasting time by making people work with an engine that wasn't designed for any of this.

Companions not having their own mounts, and horses that can go no faster than a trot on canter. Can we get some galloping horses in DA4.
More substance to areas. They were large and beautiful, but fairly empty.
Having areas where it was always either daytime or nighttime. Can we finally get a Day/Night cycle. You did it in Anthem, so we know you can do it.

I hope there's more variety in NPC faces in DA4. I hate seeing That One White Guy With A Mullet everywhere in the world. Sometimes, there are multiple versions of That One White Guy With a Mullet in the same space. I know, right? How dare people not have access to a decent hair dresser while the world is ending?

The War Table. I hate that fucking thing in DAI, especially when it's involved in side quests and romances, it kills a lot of pacing, immersion, and some of the operations are just huge wastes of time that offers very little to game's overall sense of leading a vast army/spy network/diplomacy agency and all I got was disappointing rewards and some cheap fan service and a HUGE amount of time wasted waiting for that that damn thing to allow me to advance in side quests and romances.
Now the War Table in MEA now that was FUN if I wanted to jump into the MP, I could (I don't play MP) or I could use it to send out strike teams that I could level up and upgrade their gear and it didn't affect my single player campaign and I was rewarded with weapons, armor, money. crafting supplies and so on. Since the missions were all MP I felt like I was commanding a vast army across the cluster, now if BioWare took that version of the War Table and made it with Dragon Age MP stuff I would have NO problems with it.

It's very expensive and time consuming to develop an engine in general. As far the morons running EA are concerned: "Frostbite works for all our games so why waste money paying Bethesda/ID/Zenimax to use the Unreal or whoever created the Unity engine when we have an engine that works just fine for us?"

I thought Inquisition did a lot more right than wrong.
The side missions weren't the greatest. I'm probably the few people who enjoyed the war table missions, but can understand the concern that some of them should have been turned into fully fledged side missions.

I've been trying out again with the archer set up. Few hours in...
Obviously i still hate the grindy open world Still hate the forced religious role Still got a weak companion cast but that's my very subjective opinion
One thing i absolutely hate though is time limited dialogue. Solas is chatting to me in the intro and the choices pop up and i'm deciding which suits my character when suddenly times up and we have to move on. Don't understand this desire of bioware for flow, why not give players space/time to think if they want

Many good points have been raised here, I just wanted to add:
Autosaving AFTER a major decision-making scene. That’s honestly the worst time to autosave; I used to have to remember to save before talking to any companion just in case I said something silly.

So many. But I'll try to be fair about it as possible.
-The quests are more like a chore which makes it boring, repetitive, and the side quests does not impact the main story whatsoever.
-Can't change my character's body tone, because I want to make my elven character more sturdy and toned. And I hated how the elves look like stick people.
-The party-based MMO gameplay feels like a chore at times, and the game punishes players for playing solo. They should provide an option to play solo or with companions without penalizing by making it harder without companions.
-The cinematic animations look like they're cheaply designed and it looks very horribly done. They should start using mocap to start making better animations.
-Combat gameplay feels slow, bulky, and a bit stale at times. They should start making DA4 an Action/RPG to introduce action combat as well as tactical elements.
And most important of all: They should get rid of Frostbite Engine and replace it with an engine to help design RPG mechanics, cinematics, combat and enviromental design.

8. Cartoon villain: Please write a better main story villain or just make Solas the main baddie, he was fine. Coryfish on the other hand was embarrassing.
Solas it's just Corypheus 2.0 but with a bit more character development because he got more screen time but that's about it. Thank you!!!!

To me one of the things in my mind that impacted a lot of the problems I had with the game was the design decision to have the game segmented into being completed in 20 or 100 hours. Because of other decisions that went along with that I think it led to a lot of the other problems I had with the game.

Better hair is definitely needed in DA4 if there are is anything that MEA did do better than DAI for me it was tha tas they gave us bettre hairstyles and hair physics as well which was a nice touch. Fifa's done a nice job with the hair in that game especially on the girls when playing womens football.
Another thing I think MEA handled bettre was the worlds were tighter and not so spread out which I think can be a pain in DAI MEA I think got this just about right. DAI's open world was just a little bit too open.
Other than that I'm pretty happy with how DAI turned out.

Yeah I didn't mind the war table but then I'm quiet a slow deliberate player who takes everything in when playing games like DAI s oby the time I was ready to go back most of the missions I had selected were done

If you're going to have something like the War Table at least provide some sort of log we can go back and consult. Some of the multi-chain missions were impossible to follow.
