Guns in Anthem are completely shit and same goes for most masterworks. On higher difficulties it's impossible to kill a single mob with a whole clip of most of those guns, so they're nearly useless on their own. I really hope they fix this moving forward

It's an action RPG. And I can assure you that my Divine Vengeance is more than "viable". An action RPG also describes many different things. More specifically it's a looter shooter. Are your weapons more than "viable" during the course of the game, or is it the case where you don't get a couple of specific legendaries then you might as well spam your abilities? Because everything I've seen and heard it's the latter. I honestly don't understand your question. Of course it is during the course of the game. And of course you use your abilities. As well as your guns, and your melee. I mean it's an action RPG.

Masterwork/Legendary weapons get special abilities, like thunder damage or priming with fire. This increases their damage (though, still nowhere near combo damage regions though). Although, If you get a good inscription roll on a legendary weapon... it has the potential to be good enough to use. But still, only if you get a good roll. Also, on topic. You guys realise that the cataclysm will basically be just a stronghold, right? We already have 2 cataclysm strongholds (HoR and ToS) so... yeah. ToS is not a cataclysm. Scelos is trying to start a cataclysm and we stop it. So anyway, since you can see in the future how about them lotto numbers? Semantics. 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42.

How much do you use weapons at GM3? Or even at GM2? Because if you do it a lot, I am certain other players kill 3x times faster than you and deal 3x or more damage with ability and combo spam. ? Abilities or combos does not make guns less unique or special. Guns are used to prime and detonate just as abilities, among other things. On all difficulties. I've been so busy playing other games, and not making it to 30 yet in Anthem, that I totally forgot there are "other" weapons available after the new difficulty levels open up. I saw all of them in a vid last night. I stand corrected.

So, are you saying the weapons do get better the further into the game I go. I finished the main story and have not yet reached level 30, or played on any difficulty level higher than "hard". If you're saying weapons do appear that are better than the nearly identical ones I'm getting now, then I stand corrected, I just haven't gotten them yet. For me, as far as right now is concerned, I haven't seen any. We already have 2 cataclysm strongholds (HoR and ToS) so... yeah. I totally forgot about the masterwork/legendary, of which I have none, yet. I had been merrily playing the game watching my crap weapons roll in thinking, is this it. I'm not sure "how" I could have forgotten, but I did. The vids I watched last night and showed the legendary/masterwork weapons are what I want/need.

I finally got to the world tiers in TD2 so will move over to Anthem again tonight. Hopefully my issue from the last time I moved back to Anthem won't be the case, that I'll be the only one in the game. Thanks for the update.

As we're a week from the end of May, I'm expecting new content to drop next week that will pave the way to the Cataclysm that BioWare has been working on. What do you expect will drop next week and how extensive a thing do you expect Cataclysm to be? We're only 3 days away from the end of May so it looks like new content won't be here by then. Anybody have any updates as I haven't checked Anthem, BioWare or EA on Twitter or Reddit lately? At my current level I'm looking more forward to the loot system being updated, but I'll take anything at this point.

Can’t say I care. Haven’t played since I got back from Hawaii in April. I’ve found other things that truly capture my interest, like Stellaris and Dreadnought. And there’s another big update for No Man’s Sky which is guaranteed to be awesome, not hyped up and teased about for weeks/months only to underwhelm on delivery. I’ll boot up Anthem again around September or something.

I'd rather they work on this than try and keep their May promises.

I'd rather they work on this than try and keep their May promises. Rumors are they have a new loot producer in-house (just some chatter and the fact the req has been removed from the career portion of BioWare's website) and are busy with not only Cataclysm but new lore-related missions, new QoL enhancements, loot changes, multiple new Strongholds, adjustments to the store, and UI enhancements. They COULD start the Cataclysm this week but my gut tells me a lot of this stuff launches around or after EA Play.

Whatever they prioritize, there will be complaints that they should have prioritized something else. At this stage, a pipeline of content that's stable and arrives reasonably regularly would be a huge advance on where we are now.

Maybe they're trying to copy "Two Worlds two" model? That game is still receiving DLCs. With roughly, about the same size playerbase.

I'd rather they work on this than try and keep their May promises. Found the details I read in the leak: "Bug fixes - QoL improvements (A patch with both bug fixes and QoL improvements is ready but is being held back to allow for at least some new content). - Multiple new strongholds - A stat screen - Cataclysm - Mastery System replacement (I am told it may or not be called the Mastery System) - Guilds - Leaderboards - New story - New lore - New Freeplay content - New missions - New challenges - New enemies - New loot system - Balance changes - Yes, new Javelin ideas are being tossed around. The team is NOT yet working on new Javelins. - A pilot level increase is being discussed"
