Yup fun gameplay really sucks in a game. Well, ignoring your obvious sarcasm, it does actually suck that anthem has fun gameplay. If it didn't have fun gameplay, the game could've just been trashed with the other parts of the game, and we wouldn't even have a forum about anthem anymore. But now... now the gameplay just has you hoping. Hoping that they kinda fix this, even though you know they won't. And that feeling sucks. Or sucked. Not anymore for me. I'm over it now. I've gone to the dark side and pretty much given up on the game. You're feeling the same sentiments as most Destiny players did in D1 and D2. Fun gameplay that was hampered by a lack of content and no sense of direction for where the game wants to go. The first three months are never a turn around point for games like these, and ultimately it usually comes down to needing significant gameplay overhauls to get it back in the right spot. This was the same for Destiny with The Taken King and Forsaken, and with The Division 1 with Patch 1.8. Anthem, assuming it makes it this far, probably wont feel better till a year after release. The longer you play, the more depressing the experience will be for you. I haven't played Anthem in months, though I still keep up with it; in terms of news. You shouldn't feel bad for doing so, or bad for the game, as ultimately it turning out this way is their fault. They can continue to keep trying to improve the game, and you can also decide to not give them your time. And if you decide to come back, the content will be free.

I got to talk to Casey Hud... uh I mean uhh.. that.. guy.. who looks like Casey This build seems to be better optimized in graphics or I'm dreaming. Anyway, the whole time I played the first mission I had this nagging thing saying to me "dont play it, you'll get spoiled". Argh. Then soon the game crashed to desktop.

I grew frustrated at the lack of content/toxicity and just took a break. I’m planning on playing it again later on.

Except my sentiment is not aimed at anthem or it’s lack of content, it is mainly aimed at bioware’s ways.
But whatever, maybe a break will do good no matter my reasons. I’m still doing dmc5 and atill have rdr2 on my list so i’ll be good for a while. They can postpone the cataclysm to august or september for all i care, as long as they do it right.

Bioware should manage hype and expectations better. Even the word 'cataclysm' generates its own hype, because while it does just mean a violent natural event, it is usually historic in nature. Overwhelming. Epoch-making. So now this generates expectations within the community "oh a momentous and overwhelming event, we get to participate in history, this is going to be freaking epic!!!" because cataclysms are just epic. Then the livestream dropped and it underwhelmed ... and by all reports the build on the public test server hasn't exactly been blowing people's minds, and those expectations probably wouldn't be nearly so high if it wasn't called a cataclysm. Oh, fun tidbit though. IIRC the first time WOW really mucked up in a big way was when they released their expansion called Cataclysm

I wouldn't go expecting it from them.

So instead of just adding an option ingame to switch to the test server we now have another game in the library that we need to download and we can't even play with our Javelins? What good is a level 30 pilot with no equipment... forced to play on low difficulties because of that. Given the state of the actual game I'd argue we already have a test server up an running

If you can't test with what you got and are used to how can you properly test it. They could have just added an option in the main game to connect to the test server with your account/pilot and... well... test things there with it. The playercount is already low as is and now they split them up even more with that. Haven't seen anything like that in any other game before. Even in ME3MP they managed to do all this within the same server. It wasn't official back then and more of an invitational thing where a few players were able to test balance changes (and even content) before they dropped. I'm not sure what they expect to happen but I don't think they'll get a lot of constructive feedback if they do the testing like this. Then again, I'm not sure what they are actually looking for in terms of feedback as long as the elephant in the room isn't addressed.

Quite a hilarious situation from an outside perspective. Did they test new stuff in TOR like this too with separate test servers and dummy characters?? Sounds dumb. Looks like they're still drowning in the mess...
I would recommend people stop beta testing this game for Bioware!

Andrew Johnson @untdrew Anthem PTS Update: We’ll have an updated build of the PTS going up at around 1pm PDT/4pm EDT. You will have to redownload the whole build for this one. (Although we hope to have smaller downloads for future updates.) PTS servers will go down for about ~30 min prior.

Andrew Johnson @untdrew Here are the main notes [PTS Update]: - Improvements to many UI elements - Improved tutorialization of cataclysm mechanics - Creatures easier to see at a distance - Stability no longer downs players instantly but begins attacking shields & health once depleted players go down

Did they test new stuff in TOR like this too with separate test servers and dummy characters?? Sounds dumb. Yes, they did initially. Then they added the option to transfer your toons to the SWTOR PTS server. And the PTS server is still separate in SWTOR as far as I know. How much they listened to their PTS player base...is completely another matter.

I'm surprised at the awesome silence in here. EA was talking about Anthem and good 'ol Ben was kinda on the defensive. He said a lot about nothing.
Ben is eagerly looking forward to feedback. Well, here is some you've heard before":
(1) It's loot Ben. It always was about loot and reward.
(2) Forget about playing with friends. How about just playing?
(3) Remove puzzles requiring co-op. (4) How about inverting the maps? It's always "come in from the south and proceed north". Have randomized entry points. The map will look different.

I thought puzzles were fun to do? They have always been a key part of BioWare games, it's not just about shooting? Inverted is interesting, that was done in DAI I recall.

ME*MP is peer-to-peer, hosted by someone in the group while Anthem has dedicated servers. Just a guess: - those invited to test new content downloaded the new version, so that's what was running when they hosted matches. - with Anthem, you need to download the new content and then login to a server compatible with it to play.

I'm in a server called The Forge with about 1000 members that is supposed to be the or a big Anthem discord server (with 4 EA and/or Bioware persons there too). Now even the mods and owners of the servers admit this game is lackluster and the cataclysm was lame and nothing special. When I read their comments and look at the games they're playing I found out that barely several people play Anthem there daily, most people there haven't played it for weeks or months. They mostly play games like Overwatch, Borderlands 2, Destiny, League of Legends, Rainbow 6, WoW, Minecraft, Elder Scrolls online, Black Desert online, Final Fantasy XIV and Warframe.
So stop with your stupid fanboyism and shilling for Anthem the mediocre.
