Baldur's Gate III - Spoiler Edition (please read updated OP)

Been playing with a half-wood elf Wild Magic Sorcerer. Had two "surges" so far: a radius healing when using spells, and fog cloud.

I haven't played that long yet (finished tutorial, beach, Dank Crypt, and just entered the Grove), but I am really enjoying the new class. I have spoiled myself on some of the Grimforge content, by watching part of a playthrough on YT (it showed areas not shown in the PfH). Very excited to get there. This is probably one of the few times I wish our old saves carried over from previous patches, just so I could go directly to the new area. I'm impatient.

If you are playing a Wild Mage Sorcerer, talk to Ethel in the Grove...(pssst, there is a Wild Mage dialogue options. Take it! )

I just read they finally gave the versatile tag to spears! That means you can use it it one-handed or two-handed like 5e says. Before patch 6, they could only be used two-handed.

Now thinking of making a spear/shield character. I love the look and spears need more love in RPGs.

That's way too much trauma for me to handle...

It's early access so you have some zones that are more taxing than others. The Grymforge, latest addition, is a bit rough. I play on Stadia but had a couple of crash there.

It's set after Descent into Avernus, 120 years after BG2.

Sorcerer and Wizard aren't that different, gameplay wise. I think Wizard has more spells? Sorcerers has more options to boost their spells.
You already have a wizard companion, and I think maybe sorcerer has more charisma? It's better as a leader for dialogues. Also the special class dialogues might be better for sorcerers.
You have two sub class for sorcerer right away. Either draconic or wild magic. Wizard you have to wait a bit.

Wizard is not weak per se. You have plenty of interesting spells, like grease, magic missiles etc...but you can die quickly. You can also get a special class spell at some point the wizard one is pretty ok. I thought the sorcerer one was meh.
I never played a wizard but always had the wizard companion with me, and I had no problems.

On paper the game should run smoothly enough, but this is Early Access, so optimization is not the best. Also depends what resolution and graphic options you will use. Cranking everything to Ultra may kill the performance for minimal to no visual gain, even on better cards.
